We were on the same cruise in a Haven Aft Suite. We met our Butler Richard on day 2 and told him our snack preferences which he totally ignored. We did get a snack every day but left 99% of it because it was things we didn’t like. I asked him for mixed nuts and he left something similar to the mix available at bars throughout the ship. I picked through the mix for the nuts and left the rest. The half empty bowl sat there for the entire week and was not replenished. We also reported to him that we didn’t think our air conditioner was working properly. Don’t know if it was looked at or not but it wasn’t very cool in our room all week. This was our fifth Haven experience and frankly none of our butlers have been very good.

Richard was ours as well!! I guess he wasn't busy working on others! One day he brought a cheese plate that looked like it came from someone else's room with pieces eaten!

  2. We just got off the Epic on Sunday March 8, 2020. Did not meet our butler until I called for an afternoon room service order on day 4. And one other day we had breakfast delivered. We were in a Haven Aft cabin, so this maybe was the case. He delivered random snacks only a couple of times. Our room steward was good, so we were not unhappy!

  3. We had this on the Epic last week with this premium plus package and were very happy with the glasses of wine and champagne offered by the glass with this package, and bottles of Aqua Panna at dinner, or Pelligrino if you preferred! Espresso martinis, Don Julio and Woodford Reserve  was excellent too!! And of course the cartons of water anywhere on the ship!

  4. I've been on the Seaside and Preziosa, both from casino. Preziosa is a beautiful ship but casino is very small, and we had a very port intensive itiniary, so the casino was only open after dinner each night and was hard to earn points. But otherwise, there are non stop flights to Guadeloupe out of NYC, which is very easy to get to. We upgraded to the Yacht Club on both and was excellent and worth every penny.

  5. We boarded in Guadeloupe and the main gate guard would not let anyone with luggage on the ship before 2:15pm! We arrived at about 12:15pm. By 1pm, there were about 100 people waiting to get into the main gate, in the hot sun without water or restrooms (and tons of luggage). There were many people that had 1pm boarding time on their documents, so it was very upsetting.

I was a little worried about the haven butler experience “outside” of the haven. Was it still worth it for the room? Or would you suggest not bidding on those and just keeping to the ones I think the Haven area?

The room is so big, but we were not in it that much, and the weather wasn't so great to lay out on the balcony. It is good exercise though! We also had breakfasts delivered to our balcony 2x on port days. If you're already in Haven, prob not worth it, unless really good price or a deluxe owners suite, or if you have extra people.

  7. I have the dailies but don’t know how to or where I would post. Anyway ours was the Guy Harvey cruise so there were a lot of activities for that.

There is Norwegian Night out, 80’s and Glow parties in Spice H2O outside.

Brat Pack is now a show in the main theater and Choir of Man is in the Supper Club. Excellent shows!

Aft haven penthouse 9318, huge balcony and rooms. Although butler was not the greatest. Our friends staying in the Coutyard got extra snacks, ours just sporadic.

  8. Thanks for the info on the casino, I hope you enjoyed the cruise! Was the point system pretty transparent? Meaning is there a set amount of cash in for a point? I'll be doing my first MSC cruise, also comped from MoSun, next month and deciding what I want to bring for a bankroll :)

Also, how were they about the comped drinks in the casino? I am wondering if we stop in to pick up a drink before dinner, will we have to settle in and play for awhile, or can we just grab a drink at the bar and move along?

    Thanks!

We upgraded to the Yacht Club, so we had included drinks everywhere.

I'm not sure the exact points per $, but seamed a little better than ncl.

  9. I brought my hair flat iron last week with no issues. We also brought a small fan and extension cord.

The hairdryer in the YC, is located in the desk drawer, with a very short cord. I am tall, with long hair, and it needed to sit down to dry my hair, on the low block stool under that table. It does the job, but takes a long time. The hair salon was short staffed, so if you want a blow out book early.

  10. You could get it through the slots in the casino. Just register your cruisecard in one of the machines, request an amount to be charged to your onboard account; when the machine shows the amount has been transferred to it, press the payout button. The machine will issue a ticket in the amount which you can then take to the cashier for payment in cash.

    My downfall!

I tipped extra our butler, room steward, wine steward, main waitress, concierge desk, and casino waitstaff (per drink), and pool servers. We never waited for anything, always greeted by a smile, and they all knew my name and drink.

  11. Just got back from the Msc Seaside comped cruise from Mohegan Sun. (We paid to upgrade to the Yacht Club.)

The casino is small compared to the newer NCL ships, with only penny machines at slots (maybe 2 $1 machines), continuous shuffle blackjack, roulette, and a couple other table games like Texas Hold 'em Bonus, and a game like Spanish 21 without the 10's. There were $10 min tables. There are no craps tables.

There were a lot of asian babies machines, quick hits, the locking wilds, sopranos, and 1 penny wheel of fortune machine. Some of the machines had changeable denominations 1c, 2c, 5c and 20c.

There were 6 video poker machines unfortunately in the smoking side of the casino, which has terrible ventilation.

Their comp system is very different from CAS. They give you a inside cruise certificate after you earn 10k points, and an ocean view after 15k points, and you have a year to use it. They actually issue the certificate to you on the last night of the cruise. Your points don't carry over but you can convert them to free slot play at 500 points to $5. They don't use the points to take money off your final bill, but I did get a comped dinner at a specialty restaurant.

Service and staff very friendly and attentive, and the hosts are available to answer questions.

  12. I emailed the hotel, and they said they had about 1/2 of their rooms damaged from the hurricane, and it is water damage that was not discovered until recently. (mold).

I'm glad I'm not staying in a moldy room, but you all are correct. I feel Hotwire should have booked me in an equal or better room at their expense. Well that did not happen, and they lost a good customer.

I booked another room at a nice hotel, and I will enjoy it!

  13. I booked a 4 1/2 star hotel in South Beach last April for $250 for my upcoming trip Jan 2018, for one night before our cruise. I received an email today from Hotwire that the hotel Shelborne South Beach is over booked and we can no longer stay there. They gave me the option of Hotwire booking another hotel, or refunding my money plus $25 hotwire credit.

I looked and most of the nice hotels on the beach are over $400-600 since it is prime time and about a week away! So I called the Hotwire number. The woman told me the only hotels 4 1/2 star were available for my stay was one in Vero Beach (what!) or I could go down to 3 star hotels in Miami. NO THANK YOU!!

This is not a nice surprise, and I told her to give me the refund. I did book the travel insurance though them, and she had to transfer me to the insurance company so they could refund my $10. This insurance doesn't do me any good, when I have no hotel! The guy from that company, Alianz, said, oh I will do you a favor this one time and refund your $10. This doesn't even make sense for him to say that, since I did not cancel my hotel, either the Shelborne or Hotwire did!

Anyway, from now on I'll pay the extra and not book with Hotwire,
