  1. You can buy ANY drink without a package...and you don't have to "pre-purchase" packages....You can see how it goes, and if you feel you'll come out ahead with the package, you can buy it on the 2nd or 3rd day (if you're on a 7 night cruise). They pro-rate the number of days. Be aware that all adults in a cabin must purchase if one does.

I was told by Princes, that even if you didn't buy the drink package until day 3 or 4, you will get charged for the full length of the cruise. Is that correct? TIA.

  2. This should be a DEAD link. I sailed on the 2/8 on the CB. She was cleaned and cleaned again the week before, which was the week after the outbreak. There was no NORO that we were aware of on the 2/8 to 2/15 on the CB. If there is news of a new outbreak lets hear it. Old news serves no one and makes folks apprehensive without need.

I disagree and we too, were on the Feb 8 cruise. People need be aware.

Thanks for the previous post today. Knowledge is the best medicine.

  3. Thanks for the heads up! We're sailing out on the 1st this Saturday. I'll watch out for any emails from Princess and have advised my TA to do the same.

Hi fellow Canadians. We are boarding Feb 8.... Wish us luck as we wish you calm seas.

Thanks Pam, for your wise input. You have so much experience and we appreciate your comments. Too bad some folks do not see that you are just being helpful.

  4. He is a pilot and is out of town often. He will respond. I am attaching photos as well to anyone who emails. He said he called the State department and they just said they will document it as a statistic. We are willing to report it to any news entity because we want to get the word out. We are not very knowledgeable concerning how to go about it.

We feel so fortunate we survived this. Miss Venezuela was not so lucky.

We just don't want this to happen to someone else. They may not be so lucky.

Thank you for sharing. I certainly have taken note of all the comments regarding this incident.

    Everyone.....stay safe.

  5. No different than any other destination at a beach in the summer.

There are peak times everywhere and summer is considered a peak time.

Cruises are also much more expensive in the summer than fall or winter due to families on vacation! Same with spring break, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

There are several new hotels as well as the older historic hotels recently refurbished. There are always a few not so up to date hotels anywhere. Just depends on what one is willing to pay.

    Hi there

As noted in my previous post, do you have any other suggestions that would be helpful in the Galveston area.

Thank you very much in advance.

  6. Looks like your looking in May and August correct? The last couple of summers have been the busiest in a number of years. In May there are a lot of Graduations and people coming in for them. In August we get a lot of the folks that don't want to vacation in June/July when there are so many kids because school is out. Check the calendar at Galveston.com and see if there is an event going on the weekend your looking at that also may cause higher prices. Good Luck! :)

    Hi Janet.

We are planning on staying in Galveston on February 15 for two days following our seven-day cruise out of the new Port of Houston. I have tentatively booked the Quality Inn on the Seawall Drive. Would you recommend this hotel? If not-which one would you suggest in the $100 area per night? As noted before, hotels are very pricey but we would like to explore Galveston. Would love to stay near the old pier.

Do you have any other local suggestions that would be helpful?

What is the traffic like coming from Laporte to Galveston? Is there a less traveled entry and exit from Galveston?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Karen
