  1. I realize this. I wasn't addressing the: "I have never given it any thought, but without a docters declaration and paperwork from the embassy i'm not allowed to taked them with me." part

I was addressing the: "Are these things available in the US in some big shop of pharmacy or even on the ship (legal ofcourse!)"

I saw that he got the right amount to take with him. But in case something fell through or that didn't work out, I wanted him to be fully informed

I was addressing the people telling him that the US customs or the ship wouldn’t take his medication away from him. I was making it clear that it was his local customs, not US customs. Also, people saying for him to take Benadryl..that isn’t going to help him if he has a sleeping disorder.

  2. The poster isn’t allowed to bring his prescribed sleeping medicine to the US due to custom laws in his country due to the class of drug that it is. He needs all the required paperwork he mentioned in order to get through customs with it, not US customs or Carnival. But it looks like he found a loophole and is going to be able to bring the exact quantity he will need for his trip. Hope you have a great time! I’m cruising in December and it can’t get here quick enough.

  3. Nope, not a good drinker. If we make it through 3 beers a even on a sea day, that would be a lot for us.

When DH and I did the spreadsheet that has been provided graciously on CC by someone much smarter than I, who had the skills to actually create that kick butt spreadsheet, that also had the 2018 prices listed we would make out better if we didnt get the package. - That is if we simulated properly.

Once one gets on a cruise who knows what will happen. We may like those drinks more than we think...lol And there is a high probability this could be the case, as it is a Christmas Cruise!

We will be bringing a bottle of wine, champagne and small oj cartons for morning mimosa so the ocassional specialty coffee or alcoholic frozen drink along with our beers wont send us over the edge even if we do have a bill at the end of the cruise.

We can handle carnival making money on us the 1st time.

If we find its completely different on this carnival cruise than what we thought, we will forgive ourselves for not getting the package and use that information to do something different moving forward.

Now, on to check in for my first cruise coming up....in less than 29 days. No decision needed here for package or no package. The mates Im sailing with on this one dont drink and therefore, I would not even come close to needing the package.

99 days for my carnival cruise!! - Wahoo. I will report back on whether I was wrong or on target for drinking.

Where did you find this spreadsheet at? Can you put a link for me?

  4. If you are sailing on a 5 day out of New York or Galveston where you can’t use it until day 2, they will only charge you for 4 days even if you preorder it.

I’ve already preordered for my 7-day out of Galveston and I paid for 6 days.

Thank you Greg, that’s what I needed to know. I thought I put Galveston in there, sorry about that! ;p

  5. Would it be cheaper to buy the Cheers on the boat the next day since they prorate the price when you do that. Otherwise, if you preordered it and can’t use it until the next day you pay a higher price. Right? Or does it even itself out. I know you pay more on the ship for it, but only pay for 4 days not 5 like when you preorder because it goes by duration of the trip, which is 5 in my case. Help!!!! I’m needing a better explanation, they didn’t offer this on my last cruise. :D

  6. If you're leaving from Galveston you only pay for the number of days you use, regardless of whether you buy it in advance or onboard. The difference is, as you said, the cost in advance is $5 a day less. So if your cruise is 5 days, you only pay for 4 if leaving from Galveston. The cost would be higher onboard.

Thank you Shady Lady, that isn’t really explained in much detail. Just when you purchase it makes you choose the duration of the sail (5 days), but have no way of knowing that it will only charge me for 4 days because I leave out of Galveston. Glad to know that I won’t be paying for 5 days and only get to use it for 4 days.

  7. If cruising from Galveston or New York, then Cheers! doesn't kick in until day 2 ... you will have to pay for drinks individually on day one.

Glad to see this response as I have a question about it. Help!!!!
