Hi -- we're booked on an Avalon river cruise in August with Avalon's travel insurance. My understanding is that our flight to Budapest (using airline miles) and one-night hotel pre-cruise stay won't be covered should something happen. What is our best way to be covered for both airline incidents like lost luggage and medical incidents for the two days? Thanks.

And now we're NOT sailing. Avalon posted a more complete list today of cruises that are and aren't operating, and it looks like we're toast:

Just talked to Avalon -- the Canada postponement has nothing to do with America; they're still planning their first cruise July 20 and then August departures. Reasons have to do with their third-party arrangements in Canada that they don't have in U.S. We're still ready to go on August 11th.

Hi Loreto. Wondering how you found out how full your ship was -- is it online somewhere or did you get the info from Avalon/your TA? We're booked on the August 11 Danube Jewish Heritage cruise scheduled to start on land in Prague, assuming Czechia is open to visitors by then! Have already booked air, but wouldn't be surprised if we have to skip Prague and go directly to Nuremburg.

So my better half is a first responder, and we applied for and received this certificate. There seems to be a catch, however. The way I read the promotion, she cruises free only if I pay not just the going price, but the full non-discounted price. Which if this is the case, doesn't make it as great a deal as it seems. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

Thanks Daisi -- found the notice on the Avalon website COVID-19 page new this morning, which I've been checking regularly. Having TA rebook us for the same 2021 cruise with the $200pp credit. From what I can read it's not so much readying the ship itself but the unclear border issues with the countries involved having U.S. and Canada passengers.

You do not want to see me wear it on the balcony!

Hi -- we're sailing on the Meraviglia on December 8 in a Fantastica balcony cabin, first time with MSC. If we tip our steward, will s/he be able to get us bathrobes? Or are we best bringing our own? Thanks for any advice!
