Thanks for your reply Hank. My husband and I actually agreed to try to do the whole trip with just a carry-on each. I guess I was just fantasizing about storing an extra suitcase and having more clothes and shoes for the cruise.

We are flying into Rome a week before our cruise and traveling to Lucca and the Cinque Terre. It would be great to store some of our luggage at Termini. Does anyone know if it is possible to store your luggage at Termini for as long as a week? Thanks.

Well, darn. My husband is the cigar smoker and I like to sit with him when he smokes but I prefer being outside instead of a smoky cigar bar. I hope there is good ventilation in there.
-
On the Island Princess can you smoke cigars on the outside deck where cigarette smoking is allowed?
-
It's just a suggested time, not enforced.
Yay! Thanks a lot for your quick reply. Since I posted I have gotten another text and another phone call about 12-3:30 check-in.
-
I just got a text, a voice mail message and an email from RCL saying that check-in for our cruise on FOS this Sunday would be from 12p.m. to 3:30p.m.
If I get to port around 10:30 to 11:00 like I was planning will I really have to wait until 12 or later to board? I want to get this vacation started!! :)

Just got off the ship. Verizon charged me 50 cents outgoing .05 cents incoming.
I also have Verizon and I'm so scared I will do something wrong and get charged a fortune when I only want to text people in our group. What did you do to the settings on your phone? Did you have voice roaming and data roaming both turned off during the cruise?
-
Thanks a lot for your quick replies! So if I understand right, I only need to turn off data roaming to avoid huge charges on my bill and need to leave on voice roaming to be able to text?
-
I admit I am technically challenged so after talking to Verizon for a very long time and searching their website, I am still confused. If I only want to send and receive texts from my children who are sailing with me, all I need to do is turn off voice roaming and data roaming and I will not be charged anything extra except $.50 to send texts and $.05 to receive? And the same when we're in port? I am so afraid that I will come home to a huge bill.
Also-what is the catch with the $25/100MB for global data? It seems much cheaper than paying RCL for internet.
Thanks for your help.

I just found this post on the family cruises page, it doesn't answer all questions, but might give you some helpful ideas about the tots program.

Thanks! I had never even noticed the Family Cruises forum!

I am sailing with my grandchildren ages 3 to 8 and hope when someone has the answers to your questions they also can include answers for the younger kids. We will also have an 8 month old in our group so any info about Royal Tots would be appreciated. Thanks

Flowers44 - Thanks a lot for the Beach Cabana info. My DH thinks I fret too much about the details :)
And Linda, hope you have fun on your cruise and sorry about horning in on your thread!

I think there are two Beach Cabanas. The sit right behind the walkway to goes along the back side of Nellies and leads to the OTW Cabanas and onto Columbus Cove. You get a good view of the water and the ship docked at the pier from the Beach Cabanas. There is a wall around them, so I would think that your view of the beach area would be limited. We had OTW #10 on the right hand side of the beach and had wonderful views.
Flowers44--I have reserved a Beach Cabana for our upcoming cruise because we have young grandchildren (3 to 8 years old) and I thought they would be able to get from the beach to the cabana easier. The OTW cabanas sound so much better. Do you think the kids will be able to play on the beach and get to the OTW cabana easily or should I just stay with the Beach Cabana?

My husband and I will be on the Freedom of the Seas this fall with our four children, their spouses and five grandchildren age 8 and under. I signed us up for My Time Dining so we can all get together at least once a day - but is it possible to get a 15 top table?
-
Here's the really crazy part. I love both still (evian) and sparkling water (San Pellegrino). RCI has the large bottles of both available. However, the still water has a screw cap, but the sparkling water has a bottle cap that cannot be resealed. So, the one that can lose carbonation cannot be closed back up, but the one with no carbonation can be closed up tight!
Do you happen to remember the cost of a large bottle of San Pellegrino?

We drove down and it is about an 11 hour drive. We got off the ship and were in the car by 8:30am and got home at 7:30pm...that included time for lunch.
RedHead Texan--we are thinking about driving down from Atlanta to Port Canaveral in November. Since you were in your car by 8:30am to drive home, did you park at the port?
-
Bob--Thanks for the info. The guys will be very happy!

Does anyone know if there is a cigar bar on the Freedom of the Seas?
We are cruising in November with extended family and my husband, our son and two sons-in-law all enjoy cigars. It would be nice if we could corral them in a cigar bar :-)
PS- We know there's no smoking on our balconies!

Thanks everyone for your answers. Since this money came out of the blue we won't feel bad about losing it in the casino. We'll just consider it a cost of entertainment. (But it would be nice to win!!)
-
We had a little money come out of the blue and decided to use/lose it in the casino on our cruise. Do people usually bring cash with them to use in the casino or is there some other way--use OBC or a ATM onboard?
Question about Cigars

We will not be on the Koningsdam until October but it is my understanding that cigars can be smoked outside in the smoking area on the port side of the Sea View pool and bar. My husband will be there smoking his cigars!
