  1. Has anyone ever seen NCL anything like a Black Friday deal on the purchase of cruise gift cards?  There are other cruise lines that offer 10% off gift cards through various rewards programs but I have yet to see anything for NCL.

No, mine is (G)great (W)azoo. LOL. Couldn't think of a "W" one other than that!

I have one with the same initials (Are we not allowed to use real names?)  In any event, I had never used her previously but need help in trying to plan cabins near each other so reached out to her since she is the one named on the emails I receive. Have never gotten a solicitation by phone from her.  Well, she went above and beyond helping me track down latitude reward numbers for my sister in law (so she could get the 20% discount) who hadn't sailed with NCL since 1996 and had changed names since sailing then. She answered many question s back and forth through email all before we had even booked.  I have always been a self booker but because of all the help she provided we all booked through her and I will continue to do so.  She didn't offer any better price than I could find online but because I know she'll receive credit in some form or another I was happy to use her.

  3. We are planning a family cruise that would require 2 cabins, myself, DH, DS, Adult Daughter & Boyfriend.  We are thinking of booking DH & boyfriend in one cabin and getting them both the drink package and then booking the other 3 of us in a separate cabin.  DD and Myself would not really drink enough to get the full value of the package so it would be better for us to pa as we go.  We are not looking at sharing the package with the guys but since I believe one person in a cabin cannot purchase the package without everyone doing so, I thought this would be a good solution.  Any issues with the cabin steward when he/she sees different people in the cabins?

  4. I had read that some cruise lines had gone to only giving straws upon request which is what I was expecting when asking for one with my first BBC of my 10 day Med on the Star and to my dismay they said they didn't have any straws at all. Had I known this I would have brought my own because it is no fun drinking a blender drink without one. Every time you tip the glass it hits you in the face. I had to ask for a spoon :) I get wanting to be environmentally sound but then every drink you get on the pool deck is in a plastic cup so there's that.

  5. I was on the 5/24-6/3 10 day med on the Star. This was my first NCL cruise and first Mediterranean cruise. My opinion on this topic may not be very popular, but it is just my opinion. I view this itinerary as a more port intensive cultural cruise and therefore feel like the experiences to be had on this type of cruise are lost on small children. They are less likely to appreciate all of the historical sites and more likely be stressed out on all of the long days of touring in very busy, tourist populated ports of call. I did make note that I did not see many children during our stay. In speaking with one of the kids club staff members that we bumped into while in Monte Carlo, I was surprised to hear that there were 95 children on the ship, though she only had 5 in the kids club. I think they must define children as anyone under 18. In any event, I thoroughly enjoyed our experience and think that this type of Freestyle cruising is perfect for a port intensive cruise like this. Unlike previous cruises that we have taken, we felt no pressure to get back to the ship in order to make a specific dinner seating so we were able to make the most of our times in port.

  6. I don't know so much that people are intentionally bullies and won't move away from the door for others to get out.

I think in general, the problem is that most people are stupid. They don't have the basic brain power to realize when the elevator stops, someone behind them probably has to get off. They stand there oblivious and irritated because they think someone else is going to try to get on the already crowded elevator.

It's not that people are bullies, it's that people are stupid. I think a good tactic would be.....not just "excuse me" but " excuse me, can I get off here"

Now that's funny right there, and sadly true.

  7. We just got off the Magic. There were six couples booked with our own individual booking numbers. We all called to link them only for dining purposes. When we checked in we all had the same table assignment on our S&S cards. No need to visit the Maitre D

  8. on the magic they definitely have sports on tvs in the red frog pub. I personally sat my rear end down in the magic red frog pub and watched snippets of sunday and monday night football. i even ordered the $3..33 wings.

Here is the kicker when it comes to college football games they dont have the choice as in the casino. They also would not change the channels for you. what you see is what you get. there was a game on in the casino and in the stateroom but the redfrog said they didnt have it.. i know that was a lie because the next day i came in and a game was being shown that was on that exact channel i asked for the previous day. again, that is college..nfl is different..they get those.

i would think though, that on new years day you would find games on in the pub since people will be clamoring for those games. just dont be surprised if you want to watch the one and only game that will only be shown in the casino.

Are you saying you can get college football games on the TV in your stateroom? We sail the day of the ACC championship (planned the cruise way before I knew this and the game is in my backyard practically :() Go Tigers!

  9. I'd bring it up and ask them if they wouldn't mind carrying a bottle each through for you haha

I would do the same thing! :D Why waste the chance to maximize the number of bottles allowed in your party? We are sailing with family and my in-laws got Cheers, but they sure enough will be each bringing on a bottle of wine for yours truly. ;p

  10. For our cruise in December we decided to get the Cheers! package. With that it gives me more freedom to try new drinks. What is your favorite drink and if you have pictures that would be amazing!

    Thanks in advance!

And since I am on the same sailing with you, I happily volunteer to "dispose" of the drinks you try that you don't like. ;p

  11. Although I have been watching cruise videos for years I just started getting into cruise vlogs. Here are some my favorites thus far:

    1. Seas Cruisers - The Donohos (Amy and Elizabeth)

These are the gold standard as far as I am concerned. I haven't seen anything better and they have a LOT of content. Here is a link to their playlists of cruises:

    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5hyCFNJwGcZOs_76B2JbYw/playlists

    2. SheaParker - Brooke and Garrett

This is the only couple I have ever seen that MADE MONEY on a shore trip :D Great stuff

    3. iamthebosslady - Terri and Tony

My next cruise is on Carnival Dream so I really like that one. Terri and Tony are awesome too! :)

    4. Adventures of Angela and Andy

Shows you details you miss in other videos

    5. CruiseNYR

Only a couple of videos total but worth watching this young couple

    6. sarahproductions113

Great production values being it is from a 17 year old Canadian teenager

I would love to hear about other cruise vloggers I can check out?

You got any to share? ;)

    Thanks

Are you one of the Sea Cruisers Patrons that supports their ability to take all of those cruises? I am not sure if I admire the fact that they have pulled that off or so jealous that they have. Their most recent VLOGs have been aboard the Disney Magic but most of the time spent has been their infomercial type comments about the ears they have purchased from Etsy. They keep saying they brought $1000 worth of ears but they way they are talking them up and showing the business cards for them makes me think that they sure didn't spend that money themselves. Either way I agree that their content is pretty comprehensive, unless you like the night life, they do not usually partake. I also wish they and their kids dressed a little nicer for dinners but then again that could be my catty jealous that they took 11 cruises last year self talking :halo::evilsmile:

  12. I just got back yesterday from doing this itinerary. We snorkeled at both St Thomas and Grand Turk.

St Thomas we did the Turtle Cove Snorkel and Beach break excursion. It was ok. Saw turtles and squid, a few fish and small amount of coral but nothing more than that. The crew, however, was hysterical and fun, lots of drinking after the snorkel.

Grand Turk we did the Conch, Snorkel, and Rays excursion... snorkeling at the reef they took us to at the second stop was decent. The first snorkel stop was just a sandy area, no fish at all, but it was to gather the conch which they made into conch ceviche for everyone to eat at the last stop, the stingray beach. They did a fantastic demo of how to clean a conch, let all the kids pull one out of shells, and then the boat captain had all the veggies already diced up and ready for the conch. It was delicious.

I have tons of photos, and some video, but I just got home last night so I haven't had time to do anything with them yet. I promise to post a full trip report and reviews of the excursions in the next few weeks.

ooh. Thanks I can't wait to read your trip report.

  13. In December we are cruising to Amber Cove, San Juan, St. Thomas and Grand Turk. Of these ports we have only ever been to St. Thomas where we did a sail and snorkel excursion at Turtle Cove. Where would you say is the best place to snorkel given these options?
