Not too encouraging. Hoping with the new ship, the cruise amenities will be better.
We enjoyed a Rhine Christmas Market Tauck Cruise and really enjoyed the markets. Food on the ship was also mediocre. The ship could have been Ponant, I do not now. The chef needed to get some training.
Have no intention of going to Iceland and taking dressy, formal, clothing. We will dress very appropriately for a nice dining room.
Next summer, we go back to Oceania. We really enjoy traveling with Tauck, so hope it goes well.

Ponant's new La Laperouse is in Iceland now. We are confirmed to sail this new ship the end of July. We are traveling with Tauck Tours.
We are not planning on taking "dressy"clothes. Nice casual.

Good morning,
We are a family of 13 and all have been assigned different boarding times in FLL. Check out of hotel time is 11:00.
Can we all go check in for cruise at one time and board around 11:30 --12:00?
Also, what is final decision on taking a few bottles of water on board the ship?
Thank you so much.

I know, they keep the ships pretty chilly. Taking a few wraps and sweaters.
Thank you.

We are confirmed on the Tauck "Fire and Ice" Iceland Cruise/tour this July. A new ship, Le Laperouse.
We are hoping the ship is ready. Suppose to be starting its journeys in June.
We are hoping it will be exciting.

How can we purchase a bottle of wine for our dinner at 40% off? We are not purchasing a drink package.
Thank you.

The dress code is such an ongoing subject. The cruise lines send out statements about "no jeans" in the main dining room at night, then they change it and it's OK, because people complain they do not look nice.
I admire the effort, but those of us packing are trying not to take what is not needed.
From what I have read, there are no washing machines on the ship.
Thank you to all for helping. So appreciated!

This subject seems to change frequently.
Sailing Allure in June. Have four "young men" 7--17!
Are nice, no whole blue jeans allowed in the main Dining Room for dinner? I know shorts are not allowed.

No, it was not a gift. When we confirmed our new booking in January, a comp. reservation fee was included for 1 dinner reservation in a specialty restaurant. It was a promotion for booking a veranda cabin.

Hi all,
When we confirmed our cruise on Allure of the Seas, we also confirmed a cabin with a veranda. With this cabin type, 1 dinner for 2 could be confirmed with no reservation fee, in a specialty restaurant.
We are celebrating a birthday in Chops one night and already made reservations because there is family involved.
Can the complimentary reservation fee be applied to this advance reservation?
Thank you so much.

We have Joyce confirmed for June and she has been a pleasure to work with.
We have asked for some beach time (her choice) for the kids.
Shopping
Marigot Market and Village of Marigot
Either Coralita or Cole Bay hill for views
And.. I have read several posts on watching the airplanes coming and going from the airport. There must be something special about this, so I mentioned it in my post. If there is additional time, we will go and do what Joyce suggests.
Since this is our first island visit, I am depending on her, unless these requests cover it all.

We are a family of 13 and getting very little assistance from RCCL for dining reservations. We are working on Main dining room, we have My time dining, in June.
The last time we sailed with RCCL, they FINALLY came through for us. we have asked, on this "large" ship, for either a table for 13 or 2 tables next to each other, so we can help some of the kids.
Does anyone have any suggestions of how to go about this? We are working around entertainment reservations. Have one specialty restaurant confirmed.
Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks to all for your remarks. We have confirmed the Hilton Marina with a tower view room.
Will either walk to Total Wine or ask Uber to stop on our way from the airport to the hotel.
-
I think we are now changing from the Hampton Inn to the Hilton Marina. I like the idea of sitting out and watching the cruise ships sail in.

It has been a while since we sailed from FLL. We have enjoyed many destinations, but for some reason, this choice has not been easy.
As I have worked difference websites, including Hilton Honors, ratings and rates vary, information elaborates about location and it can be frustrating. It is just one night, but there are certain items we need to get in our short time there.
I do appreciate your input and love that Total Wine is in the area. Perfect!!
Thanks again.

Thank all of you so much for your time and suggestions. Looking at Hampton Inn and Embassy. I like being in close proximity to conveniences. Would love to have some Cuban food. That would be a treat for a night.
Thanks all!!

I have read many reviews and do not have a designated area to overnight prior to a cruise. Would appreciate some clarification of what areas to confirm a hotel and some suggestions. Not familiar with the area.
Looking for a 4 or 5 star hotel, shuttles would be nice, but not a must.
We will not have a car, some choices for dinner would be good, along with a grocery or wine shop.
Thank you so much.

It needs to be deleted from forum!!!!!!! Sorry

Our first experience with the FLL cruise port and would greatly appreciate a few suggestions.
We are looking for a nice 4 or 5 ** hotel that offers airport shuttle, either comp. or $$.
Convenient to where we overnight, would like a a store to purchase several bottles of wine. We will not have a car.
Thank you SO much for your time.

Your father will make that decision later. That is a good deal but I also, can eat dining room and personally, your father will want to do the buffet one night. He enjoys that.
I will wait until he gets home and let you know.
That cruise planner works well and you can snag some deals.

We just confirmed Joyce for our family in June. Glad to read your post. I am now working on sights to visit with her. There are 13 of us... children and adults. How long was your tour? Anything we absolutely cannot miss? Thanks
-
We are going to visit for a day in June. Since there is a number of us, we have booked a private tour I contacted 3 companies and decided to use Joyce Prince Tours. We are building our own tour. We have 5 children and the rest adults. Looking fun ideas for the day. Thanks

We actually sailed the Danube on Uniworld a few years ago. They do a super job and the staff is excellent. Last year, we sailed the Rhine River for the magical Christmas Markets with Tauck. There is pro and con to either. Uniworld, the cabins were SOO small. After 8 days, we were ready to get off.
Tauck on the Rhine, offered larger cabins and we were more comfortable. We do not book smaller cabins and always outside. Truck Tours is partially known for their meal choices. This was fair. The beautiful ships belong to Podant, so it is their crew who prepares the food. It is a French company.
Of I had to compare, I would probably go with Tauck. So much comfort and there are many opportunities to "do your thing."
We are going on their new ship this summer to Iceland.

Tauck is excellent. We are also on a land tour to Morocco in March.

We just returned from a great week on Allure. One grandson has severe allergies to nuts and other related foods.
RCCL was right on it, paid a lot attention to the concerns and we had no problems.
The staff would give us the menu for the next night's dinner and he would order ahead for special care.
