When is your cruise? We did a Copenhagen round trip on the Dawn last year, mid-September to early October. We did not see the Northern Lights (too many clouds at night). We still had a great time. The leaves were pretty much peaking and it is a beautiful part of the world!
Oct 3-17. It does look pretty!

Personally I would have thought September was too early?
You are more likely to see the northern lights in winter, between the months of October and April, because the night sky is darker in winter and there are fewer daylight hours.
We are sailing OCT 3-17. There are Northern Lights focused excursions as “Select” excursions

I don't know whether this came up in your research for this cruise, but Hurtigruten has a Northern Lights Promise on their cruises:

It honestly was between Silverseas and Hurtigruten. But their ship is like a ferry vs a luxury cruise. There’s no onboard activity except eating and the naturalist discussions. Rooms appear to be rather bear-bones as opposed to luxury. And their excursions are not Northern Lights focused, such as evening outing, as offered on Silverseas.
Am I being too positive about Silverseas?

My husband and I just booked this itinerary and are super excited. Did anyone go on this cruise itinerary and NOT see the Northern Lights? Any “must do” excursions? Clothes - What is the recommendation for outer layers/type of layers?
We are new to Silver Seas and are looking forward to being “all inclusive”.
Thank you!

What about Provence? Has anyone done Lyon to Arles? We are considering this itinerary for 2020. We did Bordeaux in 2015 on Uniworld. We had a great time but we traveled on buses quite a bit due to the water levels. Love Uniworld though. Now actually considering AMA. Any suggestions are very appreciated!

Stay south of 5th in south beach. A quiet neighborhood a few short blocks from the crazy excitement. Also the beach here is almost private. Look on Airbnb for affordable, beachfront options

We recommend using airbnb rather than a hotel in south beach. You can get room for 4 at an affordable price and be at the cruise terminal in 10 mins by Uber.

LOVE your review so far! We are looking forward to our Dec 27 sailing...2 weeks from today! Yay!
What drink package did you choose? My DH wants to get one if the packages, for exactly the reasons you've stated. And also so we can grab a drink everywhere and not worry about costs going forward. He wants the Ultimate but I think the Premium is good enough. There's a $10 a day difference.
Thank you for your replay and please keep the reviews coming!!!

We were booked on the Oct 18 Uniworld Bordeaux sailing...and then I saw your link. I emailed my travel agent and she was able to book us on the Oct 11 sailing and we saved almost $3000. I really appreciate it when Cruise Critic members look out for one another.
Thank you so much!

We just to back from the Millennium in Alaska. I HIGHLY recommend you upgrading your drink package to the premium package. You can do it before you go so that it is indicated on your key card, so there's no issues. With the premium package, you can get practically anything you want...any martini you want, any bottled beverages or specialty coffees, any bran of alcohol, and most glasses of wine.
We like our alcohol and truthfully, we never felt deprived.
I believe the premium package is $11 a day per person. Well worth it! One martini a day pays for the entire upgrade

Millennium 9156
SHIP: Millennium
CABIN #:9156
DECK #: 9
CLASS: Family Stateroom
AREA: Aft
BED NEAR: Center of first room
QUIET?: Yes
BALCONY VIEW: Starboard, aft corner. We saw the entire side and rear view
BALCONY SIZE: HUGE!!! This balcony is larger than most staterooms
WIND A PROBLEM?: No
SOOT A PROBLEM?: No
PROBLEMS/COMMENTS:
We have been on many cruises and this was the absolutely best balcony EVER!
We were truly amazed when we put our key in the door for the first time and were directed into a long private hallway with another door at the end. We unlocked that door as well and were surprised to be in a two room stateroom, with a full bedroom and separate living area, large enough to have two more family members (there were two pullout couches in that room). Beyond the living room area was the largest, most amazing balcony. It was so large, there was a large teak table with 4 chairs around it (and it could have easily had 2 more chairs comfortably around the table) in addition to two full size lounge chairs. And there was still plenty of room!
Part of the deck was covered by the sitting area from deck 10, where others sat and ate or drank during the day and evening. The noise never bothered us. We ordered room service breakfast several mornings and sat outside, enjoying the views. It was also the most amazing place to privately watch the Hubbard Glacier, when everyone else was crowded on the deck above us. We almost felt guilty having all that space to ourselves...almost, lol.
We truly loved this balcony and spent time each day enjoying the views. It was nice sailing in and out of port each day, as well as seeing the sights each afternoon. Definitely worth the splurg!

We would love to see animals on one tour (bears, moose, eagles)
We would love to do whale watching on another
Would love to see glaciers...not opposed to a float plane or helicopter (never did either)
Perhaps panning for gold or seeing huskies
I welcome specific suggestions
Thank you everyone!

This is our first time in Alaska, and I always value the opinions I receive on CruiseCritic! Please let me know what excursions are a MUST DO. With the huge list of excursions to choose from, I'm confused.
I am 47 and my husband is 51. We are open for adventure, looking for culture and would love to see animals.
Also, although we've cruised many times, this is our first Celebrity cruise and appreciate feedback on that as well.
Thank you!

I appreciate your thoughts. I'm still not sure what we will do. I'm somewhat concerned that a Sound of Music tour may be a bit corny, and I may miss out on the non-Sound of Music beauty of Salzburg.
Thank you!

We are going on the Uniworld River Beatrice and i need some advice...I am a huge Sound of Music fan. Would we be better off booking an outside Sound of Music tour or will the sights seen on the included Salzburg tour suffice? I'd love some opinions. We are traveling on the Nov 10 Passau to Budapest cruise.
Thank you!

Northern Lights Copenhagen to Copenhagen (Denmark through Norway) Recommendations

Thank you!!! I’m hoping, on the excursions at night, to see colors. But seeing them in general would be amazing
