  1. You're correct, we were supposed to be on that cruise for the 30th. Our flights cancelled along with our hotel reservations. The biggest problem right now is being able to fly in to SJ. That is not likely to happen easily anytime soon.

I was on supposed to be on the Sept 30th cruise as well. Yes, the cruise was cancelled.

Fortunately we get our money back.

My flight with SW was not canceled. SW resumed commercial flights flying to San Juan yesterday. In fact, my flight is currently in air enroute to San Juan as I type this. I canceled the flight yesterday and am asking for an exception to the no refund policy (currently I have a credit that needs to be used by May 2018).

  2. Thank you. And that reason is exactly why I haven't called RC yet. I am going to wait until we get to the point when RC makes a decision about the 9/30 cruise.

I am frustrated like so many others. I realize the hurricane is no ones fault and out of everyone's control. However, RC can control the way they respond to this situation.

This is our first time on RC and our first time dealing with a disaster of this magnitude. So although I am not going to say I will never sail RC again, it does put a sour taste in my mouth.

We have been offered a 100% FCC for our cruise. I am going to hold off accepting as they said in their email that they will continue to asses the situation. The cruise scheduled to depart on Wednesday has now been canceled with a 100% refund.

  3. I had misread your question initially.

I do not know the answer to your question. Frankly speaking, I think if you called Royal directly 3 different times with your question, you would get 3 varying responses. I do believe if you had accepted an FCC prior to cancellation notice you would have to hold the FCC and not be able to convert it.

I hope you get a satisfactory result and also come back to give us all the benefit of knowing what happens.

  4. They would likely just give you another FCC. If you rebook under a non-refundable deposit that portion would be lost to the next FCC.

I apologize I am not understanding your response or maybe I did not ask my question clearly.

IF a 100% future cruise credit is offered and I accept it but then on the day of that same cruise for which I accepted the FCC RC decides to cancel the cruise now offering a refund back in the original form of payment, can I call RC and cancel the FCC and accept the new offer of the full refund?

  5. I am on the Adventure Sept 30th cruise. IF they offer a FCC and I accept and then later they cancel the cruise, if I have accepted the FCC does that mean I can't switch to the full refund offer? I am just trying to figure out my options.

  6. No worries for cruisers on Adventture. You don't need to be there until Wed and it's a late sail away. If you need a hotel, check anty of the Hyatt. They were during Irma.

Actually, I believe they changed the time of the Wednesday sailing. I believe it's leaving at 4 or 5pm.

  7. They have been cancelling day by day. no one is flying there today or tomorrow. It will keep going

Exactly. But someone stated that SW had canceled through the end of the month already. Which at this point is not a true statement.

  8. Good Morning,

Can anyone who may have recently been affected by the changes to certain itineries on Eastern Caribbean cruises possibly advise which cruise port RCCL are replacing St Thomas with? I'm doing Nassau, St Thomas & St Kitts in November but I've not seen any information from my TA as yet but looking at reports it indicates of the 3 planned ports St Thomas will not be receiving Ships for a while.

    Thank you.

Right now, Adventure is going to St. Croix and Allure is going to Labadee.

They are notifying people about 4 weeks out.

    Just monitor the RCCL website.

  9. did you try to do a dummy booking? You can't

Just because you can't do a dummy booking doesn't mean all flights are cancelled. As of 9:30est tonight they have not been canceled through the end of the month. I just got off the phone with SW.

  10. For some reason, I can get this to show on the website...can you send another screen shot about Anthem modification from the bottom of the page please? Thank you!

Anthem of the Seas: September 23

Due to the forecasted track of Hurricane Maria, we will be modifying Anthem’s upcoming itinerary and replacing our call in Bermuda with calls on Portland, Maine and Halifax, Nova Scotia. We are very sorry for the impact this storm has had on your vacation. Given the change to this sailing, we will be adding a 50% refund of your cruise fare to your onboard account in the form of a refundable onboard credit. Pre-booked shore excursions will be refunded to your original form of payment, and you will have the ability to book excursions in our new ports of call once onboard.

  11. When booking online, we had to pay gratuities for MTD. There was no place to remove those gratuities. We weren't given an option. I now understand we could have called to have them removed but in my mind, not necessary for us as we would have had to pay them anyway and we do not have any credits.

Since we already paid the gratuities , will I need to watch our account and make sure we don't get charged gratuities on a day-to-day basis?

People are saying they did away with the requirement of prepaid gratuities but we did not have that option when we booked in Fall 2016 for our Sept 2017 cruise.

  12. Probably too late to remove the gratuities now since you are beyond final payment, but you could call whoever booked your cruise and give it a try.

Honestly, I am ok with the gratuities already paid for. If someone provides outstanding service I will be sure to tip them additional. If I get subpar service then I will take that up with the person at that time.

And I booked the cruise through the RC website myself. I did not use a TA.

  13. Well, you could be the first to notice a new policy change. We shall see if it's reported by anyone else.

    We are new to RC.

We are on Adventure in about 8 weeks. When we booked this cruise about a year ago, we chose MTD. That same message about prepaid gratuities was there. And they were added into our total price. Not having cruised RC before, we just assumed it was standard procedure.

  14. I am on the telephone with them right now. The customer service rep can't seem to find the JS Guarantee that I am pulling up on line. They keep quoting me the price for the non guarantee.

When I had called earlier, the gentleman that was assisting me did quote me the JS Guarantee. And I can pull it up on line right now while on the phone with them. I should have switched earlier today :(

  15. If you are booked under US/Canadian rules, they will normally allow you to change to any other available JS if you don't like the assignment.

Is it true you find out the assignment for guarantee when you arrive at the ship or can you find out earlier?

We booked under US terms and we are past our final payment date (which was last week)

  16. I called RC twice...between rudeness of customer service and all background noise of other customer service agents, I had trouble getting questions answered and hearing the muffled voice of the customer service reps talking to me.

We are currently booked balcony #9310 on AOS. We are paid in full.

With today's sale, we can get a JS guarantee (so we won't know until we get to ship which cabin) for $79 less.

    My questions:

    1) is this something we can even do without penalty?

    2) is it even worth it? It's just a friend and I cruising. We leave the kids and husbands home.

We prefer a higher deck but would go lower if it will be a much better experience. From what I could understand we could get floor 6,7,8 or 9 with the guarantee.
