  1. Feel better soon!!

Costa Cruise and I was 10 years old. My parents surprised us; they told us we were driving my uncle to the airport and then I saw she had packed all of our bags in the hallway. We were the youngest cruisers by far, but it was my family's cruising start and it turned into our vacation of choice for school breaks. We only had a window with uppers and lowers but it was so much fun! I got my husband hooked on them, too. We are excited to be back after a 4-year cruising hiatus (3 for me, I went with a gf for her first time on a cruise)!

  2. I don't think I've felt any more movement on the bigger ships, even being up there in a CLS. I will say, our first one was facing the back on the mini golf side and sometimes the music was loud from the flowrider, but during the day only. I never had any sound issues at night. I think the hallways by the CLS are much less chaotic, quieter, and don't have kids running back and forth. Go for it but beware, you may never want to go back to anything else! 😉

  3. I've been cruising since elementary school and it's been my family's vacation of choice ever since. Then my husband got hooked and he loves it. I had a really bad dining experience - got kicked off traditional dining somehow and found out when I got my seapass, forced to MTD x2 nights with no reservation then accommodated, and the report that was sent to corporate was a lie - and I honestly never wanted to cruise again I was SO frustrated. But, since my husband loved it that much, I tried on the Harmony and all was redeemed. People can make mountains out of mole hills. We like going to different places over the course of one vacation. We always ate in the MDR and now that we're onto suites, we love CK. We go to shows every night and have enjoyed them.

  4. Loved Michael Grimm on America's Got Talent!

On the Harmony during Hurricane Irma we had Jeff Tracta, impressionist and the "Singing Trump" from the most recent season of America's Got Talent. I will admit I wasn't too excited for him as I'd seen the show and I didn't like him then, but he does SO more than just the Trump act. It's fantastic and hilarious! We also had a comedian/juggler as a second headliner later due to the extended cruise.

  5. But OP is flying in so they won’t have a car to drive around. I agree with 138 stay at Hilton Newark Penn Station and come into Manhattan and spend the time there using NJ Transit.

They asked what there was to do in the Newark area, so I told them my suggestions. They didn't say they were restricted to only public transit or walking and sometimes people rent cars to get around. Just a thought.

  6. Newark has the Prudential Center and NJPAC, so you can check if there's a show/concert going on during your visit. As far as shopping, the town over (Elizabeth) has the Jersey Gardens Mall which is the largest shopping outlet in NJ. Across the bay, you can go to Liberty State Park, in Jersey City, which should be really nice in June.

  7. We have been using Newark Long Term Parking (newarklongtermparking dot com) for 2 years now. You can do self park or valet. Before I made a free account with them and prices were the exact same for me, I found valet to be cheaper. They have a free shuttle for pickup and drop off. They can also pick you up in your own car and you can drive off (has to be valet drop-off and for a fee, of course).

  8. Agreed that I wouldn't take a $30 + mug with me like a Yeti. Look for brands like Rtic or Atkin. Currently priced on amazon between 14 - 17 each.

My husband and I each have an RTIC; brought it on our last cruise to keep hydrated on the pool deck. Performs just as well as a Yeti for a fraction of the price. FYI first time my husband used it for coffee, he burned his mouth and ended up spitting it out all over our deck (and he likes it pretty hot) -- it stays HOT for significantly longer than your regular tumbler.

  9. I work for a major airline as mechanic and I suggest you try and get an earlier flight. Even with change fees it would probably be cheaper than renting a car and driving down. Also, if you were to check your bags and the flight is cancelled it could take several hours for your bags to be returned...

Yes! I was one of the unfortunate thousands of people who flew (well, tried to fly) during the bomb cyclone. They delayed everyone in the terminal for hours and then finally did a mass cancellation of all flights. We didn't get our luggage for 2+ hours. I would try to get a flight Thursday night; if they know bad weather is coming they will issue a waiver for you to change flights without a fee. Call and do it ASAP as other people are probably thinking the same thing and those remaining flights will fill up fast. Once/if your flight get cancelled, the whole getting on another flight game gets infinitely more difficult. Good luck!

  10. Yes. We were balcony-only type of people until we sailed in a Crown Loft on the Harmony in September. We specifically booked one again on the Allure - the two bathrooms can't be beat in my opinion. I also love the access and proximity to the SL, CK, and the suite sun deck.

  11. I was in a CL suite, Great cabin and proximity to CK, but imho and “taste” I really did not think the food was that good at all.....disappointing.

I agree re a quiet and pleasant ambiance. Very nice, especially if you get a window table nearest to the ocean view.

Also the bar tenders very good, as were most of the wait staff...... but food options repetitive and lacking flavor .

Just my opinion so don’t beat me! Lol

Sheila! I hope your house is ok; missed you towards the end of the cruise on the suite deck! :)
