  1. I guess for our next cruise I will have to pack a package of Schar hamburger buns and ciabatta rolls so hubby can have a burger and a decent option for use as a roll to have with escargot.  While my home made rolls are better, they need to be frozen and used one by one, which is not doable on a cruise.

  2. My husband is celiac.  We have not been on a cruise since the pandemic began, but the last time we were on the Summit, we had the same poor experience regarding the availability of any decent gluten free bread.  In fact, the ONLY gluten free bread they had available that cruise was raisin bread - Very unappetizing if you are looking for something to have with escargot 🤮  I also find it amazing that they cannot do better than this regarding bread/buns/rolls, since even Culver's can provide a decent gluten free hamburger bun. At one time RCCL had gluten free bagels available.  No idea if they still do.  There are many decent options available pre-made today that Celebrity should be able to source.  I am not a professional baker but over the years through trial and error I have successfully made delicious gluten free hamburger buns, bread and rolls that far exceed what is available pre-made, and I know if I can do it, the professionals at Celebrity should also be able to do it.  I hope Celebrity reads these boards -- and looks into providing better bread options for their gluten free cruisers - they do a really good job of most other gluten free options on board.

  3. We are also splurging on this cruise with a sky suite - to celebrate our 45th anniversary.  I am sorry that you are not being offered a price reduction.  When I spoke with the person who informed me of the change she initially refused to give us any price break.  I pushed for it, or suggested they upgrade my cabin instead.  She put me on hold and then came back in a few moments and told me that she had adjusted the price and that they would still give me the $400 OBC.  However, I still do not see evidence of that $400 OBC on my reservation when I view it online.  I booked directly with Celebrity - no travel agent involvement.  I have heard that the rules are different though in the UK when it comes to pricing.  If you booked through a travel agency you could try reaching out to them for assistance.  If you booked directly with Celebrity in the UK, you could try calling them again and requesting nicely, or give the captain's club a call and see if they can assist you.  No matter what happens, I hope you enjoy your cruise.

  4. We were on the short 4 night cruise on the Summit, just prior to her drydock.  The service was good, but I have to say they dropped the ball with available gluten free bread most meals.  They offered only raisen bread with dinner twice, even after we discussed the issue with the restaurant manager.  Gluten free raisen bread is fine toasted for breakfast, but it is really totally not fine for dipping in Olive oil at Tuscan Grille 😞 - I believe they were busy cleaning out/using up the supplies, and simply did not have a good selection available.  Something to consider if anyone in your party has dietary issues.  While it did not ruin the cruise, it was definitely not up to Celebrity's normal standards when it comes to caring for special needs.

  5. Celebrity called me yesterday re the June 2nd Cruise.  They made an itinerary change taking the cruise from a 12 night to an 11 night by leaving out Rijeka, Croatia.  For us it is ok - they adjusted the price a bit, and offered us an additional $400 OBC.  I would bet there will be an itinerary change for the cruise that follows as well.

    • We are booked on the June 2 sailing - I spoke with our Celebrity Agent and he indicated it looked fine from his end, and perhaps it is just sold out.  However, it does seem strange that all the early June 2020 sailings for Infinity have disappeared from the website - none there except the June 28 sailing.  I'm not sure that many sailings sell out that far in advance.  I am a bit puzzled.
