I only cruise about once every two years, so I get a good location mini suite and the premier package. Then I just enjoy the all inclusive feeling and don't worry if they came out on top. Of coarse it it skewed in their favor just like the grocery store. They make me buy a whole loaf of bread, and I only need one forth of a loaf. Just get the best and enjoy your cruise.

This blue collar worker and occasional cruiser we be chosing the Premium package. No worry about extra cost. Just relax and enjoy the cruise. And I will try gelato for the first time.

I look at all the changes going clear back to the 90's and wish we could turn back the clock on all the extra cost. I am looking at the bright side of this change. We only cruise around once every two years, so we try to live it up. We will get the premium package and know what it is like to be able to order top shelf drinks, go to specialty dinning, and now Alfredo's and others . Feeling first class for this factory worker is few and far between. And maybe the lines will be shorter and not so many obnoxious drinkers like other cruise lines with free perk drink packages.
Oh, and now I don't have to walk past the gelato. It doesn't take much to make ma a happy cruiser.

You are getting great advice about the Woodford Old Fashioned at Maltings. It is addicting. It is different I believe with Maple syrup instead of simple syrup. Judge it after about the fourth sip. It gets better as you drink it. They had a unique Manhattan at the Brewery also.

The Joy was retrofitted for North American passenger after originally being designed for the Asian market. I have been on both ships. I actually enjoyed the Bliss better.

Anyone that decides to go on a cruise ship is not worried about trying to social distance. That is like saying , let's social distance at the Golden Corral.

I never thought I would say this because I normally cruise at least 4 times a year. However, to get to a cruise I have to fly. Right now, I have no desire to get on a plane. No flight-no cruise. I think airports and planes are the sources and then we become carriers leading to community spread on the ships.
That vaccine will be very important!
I actually feel the same way. And I am staying in the USA.

My answer would be, the same time I would go back to the Golden Corral. Which might be a long long time. After seeing how the foreign countries treated the cruise ships, I may never leave to good old USA again.

Mayor of Miami:

I will cruise again when I feel comfortable enough to eat a piece of birthday cake that the candles just got blown out on . It is a whole new world.

The 'plan' I heard is for pax to board sanitiized buses at the ship, be transported to the tarmac at the airport, go directly aboard those planes on thr trmzc.
They will not be in airport terminal and will not infect any persons on the ground in FloriIa.
Thank goodness they are back. I wonder why once they get off their chartered fights, it appears they are allowed to join the general public on their connection flights home. I am not sure that is a good idea, and it seems to go against recommendations .

Can you imagine what it will be like on board when they hear the Captains annoucment bell tones sound and then hear the Captain announce " We have been approved to dock". Overjoyed.

The Port Everglades web cam shows the American flag waving in the breeze. What a site that will be for the Passengers. I knew we would get it done. It is in our blood. Bring it home.

I would imagine passengers are in cell phone range and filling in their families.

update from brother on rotterdam just now:
no word yet on disembarking. we will be in ft lauderdale tomorrow.
Are you able to text your brother, or email ? Let's hope he soon hears the Captain announce the disembackment plan. I would think isolation will be part of that plan, but I am sure he will be happy . We are hoping everything goes smooth.

Thank you noworever. Your story turned out well, just like it will for these passengers and crew. I can only imagine how you felt every time you heard the sound of the Captains announcements and listened and wondered what was in store next. Let's hope the coming announcements for both ships will be uplifting for the passengers and crew. They need something good to happen.

It seems to me that a hearing such as this would start off with the premise ..."there are people in distress off of our coast, some are americans, some are not....but we as Floridians will come together and we will formulate a plan to help these people....we as Floridians have been helped get through hurricane disasters time and time again and it is now our turn to help our fellow human beings".
We Floridians are blessed with living in one of the best states in one of the richest countries in the world.Let's not see a "man overboard" and sit and argue about how or why he got there, where he is from, whether we might get sued, paid, reelected, praised or criticized. Throw the man a life buoy. It is the American thing to do. It is the right thing to do.Or as JFK said “For of those to whom much is given much is required.”We have fought and died for what is right. They will do the right thing.

Remember highly specialized care is not required for patients with the Corona virus. But highly trained medical staff and the ability to isolate them is. They will have a plan. And it will be a good one.

If we as the most prosperous country with a military that is by far the world's largest cannot at this point figure out how to take 1200 passengers and some? crew off of two ships and provide them with the care they need whether hospitalization or safe quarantine then good luck to us all.
Try not to worry. They will be well taken care of. It is not going to be convenient, but they will have a good plan.

What I am saying is, the US had a plan for the Grand Princess, and also did a great job with the American passengers on the Diamond Princess, for both those that were sick and those that were quarentined. And now they will have a similar plan for the passengers of these two ships. It may not be perfect, but it will happen. And for those sick, you need to know that the US has some of the the best health care in the world. Now let's prove it.

I agree, also a Floridian. These people have to get off these two ships. Arrangements have to be made to let them dock.
It is what we do. And proud of it.

Unpopular Opinion: I'm excited about the changes to Plus and Premier
in Princess Cruises
Posted
I feel like you. I only cruise maybe once every two years. I love having the all inclusive feeling that Premier brings. If I want a twenty dollar drink, I am not going to think twice. Go enjoy your vacation and live it up. The sixty hour work weeks will be waiting when I get home.
