We were on the Elation and went into Freeport this past Sunday. There are a few excursions from Carnival- beach day (Taino beach), sailing, snorkeling or diving. We thought that the excursions from Carnival would be super crowded so we chose to go own our own to Paradise Cove and Deadman's Reef and it was very nice. Only 15 people total there! There was a lot of beach erosion but they are working hard to get things back up and running. The snorkeling there was very nice from the beach- lots to see and water clarity was good. https://deadmansreef.com/ They also have video updates on fb. It was our driver's first day back to work in over 5 weeks! Everyone we met were happy that the cruises are coming back- jobs and money back into the economy. The driver said that Port Lucaya Marketplace might be up and running next week. It will depend on when you go how many more offerings that Carnival will have.

Thank you so much for the update! We sail next month and were wondering if it would be worth the trip to Paradise Cove. Your review will help us tremendously!

  2. We just got our cabin assignment (BA balcony) and it was a slight upgrade, but it is a "connecting cabin" with the cabin next door. This is on the Jade. Is this a bad thing?

Celebrity has external connecting cabins and so it's not a big deal. Does the cabin have internal connecting doors that are not sound proof? What is your experience?

    Thanks!

    Kel:)

Hi Kel! We'll be on the Jade with you! We've only had connecting cabins on Carnival ships, but they were never a problem. We didn't hear anything louder than what we've heard in non-connecting cabins. I think we have a connecting balcony room this time, as well. Maybe we'll be next to you....it's all good....we're pretty quiet....lol!

  3. I have fairly severe motion sickness (watching a train go by, swinging, watching a merry go round, etc.). I take one Bonine each morning and evening, starting the evening before we sail, and have never gotten seasick on a cruise, even in the middle of a hurricane! The Motionease oil works quite well, too!

    Enjoy your cruise!

  4. OP - you are basically asking us to do your research for you. Grab some guides, read some forums and then come back and ask some questions. All of us who have been to that side of the Caribbean have things we like and things we avoid.

Lots of people like Victor Boden in Roatan, I don't, nothing that he offers interests me. Others like LFK, again I don't.

You need to figure out what you want and then ask us specifics so that we can give meaningful responses.

zqvol, we've done a tour of Roatan with Victor Bodden twice and loved it both times. We leave in 11 days and would like to do something different this time. I've considered LFK, but we aren't sure it's for us. What do you like to do in Roatan?
