  1. Hi all - I am thrilled that we were upgraded from our oceanview guarantee (last minute booking) to Concierge Class cabin 9179! We haven't cruised without a veranda in a long time.

But - when we select our own cabins we generally avoid this deck, fearing noise from the public space above. Should we be concerned about this? There are still a few scattered veranda and cc cabins left on the ship (we sail this Sunday) that we might be able to switch to. Right now, they show these open cabins: Veranda 7107 (mid ship) and 6029 (forward - is the wind an issue in forward verandas?), and Concierge 8162 (one cabin off the aft cabins). Would much appreciate help from anyone with thoughts on this. Thank you!

We always stay on Deck 9 and love it. I've never been bothered by any kind of noise from above. We actually stayed in room 9179 our first time on Deck 9. It's great being so close to the pool and buffet. You just have to go up one flight of stairs. We'll be staying on Deck 9 again this November in Aqua Class. Absolutely love the overhang as well. It's nice to sit out there if it rains and stay dry :)

  2. My very first cruise was on the Chandris Amerikanis. It was awesome at the time. Smaller ship and you got to recognize everyone on board within a few days. Oh those incredible midnight buffets with all the fruit sculptures and ice sculptures and REAL baked Alaska parade's with the baked Alaska actually flaming. The cruise itself just felt a lot more intimate.:)

  3. The CVS at Beach Place sells beer and wine. It is about 2-3 blocks away. There might be a bigger selection at Plaza Liquors on Las Olas Blvd before the bridge. I would highly recommend Casablanca Cafe next to the hotel...they serve gourmet food in a historic home with a beach view, and the piano bar there is fun (how great is that?!?). If you want fine dining, Steak 954 in the W and Via Luna in the Ritz Carlton are good. In Beach Place, Lulu's Bait Shack has good casual seafood. Sonic just opened there too and of course there is a Hooters. Just past there is H2O which is good. There are a bunch of cafes after that, mostly not too good. Casa Del Mar and Spazio have had some good reviews but I tried them both and have not had good experiences. Keep going and on the west side (across the street) of the Courtyard Marriott is Coconuts, highly recommended, on a marina. If you keep walking, you will find Bahia Cabana. It's super casual, on a marina. The food isn't special but the fried fish is always good and it's just a fun place to go. On weekends they have bands or DJ at dinnertime. This is over a mile from the hotel but it's a nice area for a stroll.

Thank you so much for your response. I really appreciate all the effort that you put in to answering questions and giving recommendations. YOU ROCK!!!:)

  4. We have booked the Alahambra Beach Resort for three days before our cruise in November (3021 Alhambra Street • Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304). I know that it is about a four minute walk from Beach Place. I'm wondering if there is any place nearby where we can buy beer and wine to take back to our hotel room? Also, which places to eat would you recommend near there. Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated.:D
