  1. Better late than never. I wanted to finish this trip report, so, here is Day 4!

Day 4 was supposed to be our Cococay, Bahamas day. This was the day that hubby and I were looking forward to since we had never been to Cococay. I read in one of the CC boards that you should get in line for tender tickets as soon as you can so that you can get an early boarding number, so, that meant being in line by 7:30 a.m. Tender ticket distribution was held in Two70. I am glad I arrived early as there was a line at 7:20 a.m. When I received my tickets (group #12), I also picked up towels for the beach and then went back to the room and reviewed the Daily Compass.

Around 9:00 a.m., we were approaching Cococay. We were excited, but, soon we learned that we would not be visiting the island. The captain explained that the swells were too high making tendering dangerous. I then watched as we sailed away from Cococay. :(

The captain and cruise director kept the passengers informed. We were told that the captain received permission to dock in Nassau a day early and that the ship would spend the night in Nassau.

We arrived in Nassau at 1:00 PM. We decided to stay onboard today and explore the ship. It was a beautiful day. We walked around and relaxed on the upper deck. I also had reservations for NorthStar. I was a tad bit apprehensive since I am afraid of heights. I put on my ... well you know, and, really enjoyed my experience. It was a great view.

Reservations are highly recommended as the standby line was long.

Our entertainment for the evening was Spectra's Cabaret.

We arrived early and were able to get front row seats. However, It is best to sit in the middle because the entertainers do not stay on stage. Overall, I enjoyed the music and the show.

  2. DH hates onions and wanted to know if there were any in the spaghetti sauce? Hope you all had a great trip and a happy anniversary.

I did not notice any onions in the spaghetti sauce.

Easy question from me. We were on the Grandeur in October and the Freestyle machines kept running out. Was that an anomaly, did you run into issues getting drinks?

There were some instance where the Freestyle machines did not have the selections that we wanted.

  3. Wow! Congratulations on being selected for the marriage game on your anniversary trip – how special is that?! I hope as a participant they give you a copy of the DVD.

Looks like you're having a wonderful trip.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post the daily compass and the menus every day, it's very helpful to all of us future cruisers. DH and I sale on the same itinerary April 2.

It's my third cruise and DH second.

    NCL Breakaway Sept 2014

Thank you! They gave us a video of the show on a USB drive. I hope you had a wonderful sailing!

  4. Day 3 - Port Canaveral, FL

We ate breakfast in Windjammer. We managed to find a table pretty quickly. The selection was your standard breakast fare - pancakes, waffles, sausage, eggs, fruit, cereal, baked beans, etc.

After breakfast, the ship was just about to pull into port. We were able to find some chairs onbthe pool deck (Deck 14) by the window.

DH & I were off the ship by 12:45 p.m. Don't forget to take your Sea Pass card & photo ID. You can't use your Wow band to get off the ship. DH & I purchasedate Wow bands the evening of Day 2 since we are use to MagicBands at WDW. The Wowbands are similar. You can use them the same as your Sea Pass card except for the disembarkation/embarkation process.

We didn't have any plans of going to the theme parks. We planned on family coming to the port to meet us which they did. We had lunch at Fishlips. Lunch was very good. I really enjoyed the sweet potato fries.

After eating & catching up, we were back onboard the ship. Since the Bionic Bar was open, DH decided to get himself a Long Island Ice Tea. To order your drink, you touch your Wowband or Sea pass card to the tablet & place your drink order. It was neat watching the arms move, however, the delivery system could be smoother. Almost half the drink spilled out of the cup when making its way down towards the purchaser.

Tonight, we had reservations for "The Gift" before My Time dinner. The set design for the show was topnotch. The performers were wonderful. The storyline ... That's where the show lost both DH & I. We know the gist of what the show was about. This show would definitely not be on our must do list.

We did not have reservations for My Time dining, but, there wasn't a wait by the time we arrived. Service tonight was lacking. We had to ask for butter several times, it took a while for our server to come over to us, and our water glasses were not refilled until dessert. The food, however, was good.

After dinner, we headed over to the Love & Marriage Game Show. When we arrived at the Royal Theater, one game bingo was about to begin. I think the single cash prize was $300.

Once bingo was over, the game show started. Of course, since we were celebrating our anniversary, I wanted to get on the show. DH did not, so, we say off to the side several rows back.

Kevin, the Activities Manager, picked the contestants. Couple #1 were the newlyweds who were married on the ship the day before. Couple #3 were the longest married couple who were willing to participate. There was a couple who have been married for 61 years. They declined to participate. The couple who participated were married for 57 years. For both couples, their family/friends were there yelling for them to participate. For the second couple, Kevin picked 3 couples who were married for 15 - 25 years. Though we didn't have any family sailing with us, we were one of the three selected & after competing to get on stage, we became couple #2!

The game show was a lot of fun. The newlyweds won & received some nice his & her watches. We received a gift pack with Royal Caribbean logo products.

After the game show, we headed back to the room stopping pass Sorento's & Cafe Promenade to refill our drink cups at the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines & get some pizza & snacks.

  5. Love your review.

We are also interested in the % of people that get dressed up for the format nights, as we are sailing on April 2nd too.

We like to get dressed for the format nights and my DH normally takes his kilt. We are unsure whether to take our formal attire as not a lot of posts talk about the formal nights for Anthem since dynamic dinning is no more.

Looking forward to reading more about your cruise.

Can you comment on how people were dressed for formal night on day 2? What percentage dressed up vs. nice dress vs. casual. Thanx!

Thank you for taking the time to post while on the ship - appreciated and happy, happy anniversary.

We sail same itinerary on April 2 !!!!

A good percentage of people were dressed for formal night more on the second formal night of the cruise. There was a range from not dressed at all to formal dresses & tuxedos.

  6. Day 2 - Sea Day

DH & I didn't leave the room until it was almost time for the Meet & Mingle (MM). The Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle was held in the third floor of the Musical Hall at 10 AM. Kevin, the Activities Manager, was present the entire time. Dru, the Cruise Director, made an appearance & welcomed us aboard the ship.

    29eeee98913e30bf6e10cbab29441ab3.jpg

Mimosas were served & raffle tickets were given to all attendees. Raffle items were bottles of champagne, red wine, and white wine, as well as, some Royal Caribbean logo items.

After the raffle, the MM was pretty much over. We did not take a group picture though I offered. DH & I stayed and talked with another couple (Susan & Steve [emoji112]).

DH & I stayed in the Musical Hall for Bingo. I did not win any money [emoji17] but, I did win a Royal Caribbean hat

After Bingo, DH & I ventured into the casino. I really like that the casino is not on one of the main floors, in the middle of the ship & you don't have to walk through the casino to get some place else (unlike Norwegian Breakaway or Carnival Fantasy). Since we are not big gamblers, we only played the penny slots. We didn't win, so, it was off to lunch.

Our first stop was the Solarium Bistro where brunch was still being served. The selection was pretty good - scrambled egg whites, pancakes, French toast, sausage, and other items. We then went to Windjammer for a broader selection. It was your standard fare - hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, salad & sandwich fixings, etc. While walking to Windjammer, we ran into Shrek.

We walked around a little, but, didn't do much. There were different activities happening on the ship throughout the day and evening.

For dinner we ate at Silk. It was formal night. Pictures of what we had are below. Menus are in the next post.

After dinner, we had reservations for Spectra. However, during dinner, Dru announced over the PA system that the shows scheduled for the evening would be rescheduled to Day 4 for the safety of the cast. The ship was swaying a lot which was making me queasy, so, after dinner we went back to the room. This is the first time I had sea sickness.

  7. After we got settled in, it was time for the muster drill. Our muster station was in the Royal Theater. After the muster drill, we stopped by the Bionic Bar, but, the arms stopped working so we moved on.

We sat in Sorrento and had some pizza, people watched, and then headed back to our room to wait for the Welcome Aboard show at 6:30 p.m.

The show started a little late due to technical difficulties. The Anthem of the Seas band was very good. Dru did a good job engaging the audience. The comedian, Phil Palisoul, was funny. DH is thinking about going to his adult comedy show.

Since we have My Time dining, we decided to go to dinner after the show. The line wasn't too long & we were able to be seated immediately.

The food was not bad. We are not "foodies" and don't expect to be blown away. Overall, we were satisfied.

We did not go to any shows as we were pretty tired.
