  1. Hi, just booked a cruise on NCL Joy in August with the Free open bar promotion. What does this include exactly? Gratuities were charged, does that mean when ordering a drink I don’t need to tip? I’m not a big drinker but thought what the heck, first real vacation in 8 years and traveling solo.

    Thanks for any clarification.

I just booked a 9 day (Sept 3-13, 2022) Bermuda cruise on NCL out of NYC ($1150 cruise fare in a studio). Stops in VA Beach, Orlando, and GSC with an overnight in Bermuda. Triple points if you're a latitudes member.

Just booked this cruise only leaving on August 14. First time as a solo cruiser. Booked a club balcony. Didn’t think I could handle a studio.

  3. Just off the Gem. We ate 2 dinners in the Grand Pacific MDR. Both excellent meals. Loved the chocolate volcano cake. Service seemed fine. I think planning is a big part of the meal. If you have plans to see a show after your meal, make a reservation. We ate at Blue Lagoon once and Garden Café once for dinner and 3 speciality meals. Blue Lagoon was the worst and while Garden Café was ok we didn't think there was enough choices.

  4. Hi,

We just returned from the Gem today. We were in a 2 bedroom family suite number 11024. We LOVED it. The whole trip was fantastic. I'm not sure how the original poster missed the sign in the terminal that was directing you to the Suite/VIP line. If you knew that's where you should have been from reading CC you should have been looking for it and not just taking the first person's directions. We got signed in and directed to the VIP Lounge. We only had time to grab a cookie when we were escorted on the ship and shown to the elevator to take us to Cagney's. At Cagney's we had only given our lunch order when the announcement was made that rooms were ready. I did not expect or need an escort to our room. I had done enough research to know where our room was.

Never going back to below a suite category again.

  5. Does RC have any round trip cruises to Quebec ever and where and where do they leave from? I looked at there website and could only find one way cruises to Quebec.

    I normally cruise on NCL.

    Thanks in advance

  7. We have used ginger pills in the past during cruises to avoid seasickness. We do remember starting to take them 10 days prior to the cruise, what we can't remember is if you take 1 or 2 a day. Does anyone know?

    Thanks

  8. I called the access desk regarding this same issue. My wife is unable to walk long distances or stand for long durations due to MS. I was told they have a limited number at the terminal for passenger use for embarkation.

We decided to purchase a lightweight transport chair for her. That way we would have it onboard and for excursions if we need it.

In any case call the access desk and let them know what your needs are.

  9. Hi,

Are there porters available in the parking area to help with luggage etc? We are 4 adults and one 17 month old. One adult uses a wheelchair so we will definitely need someone to help us.

Do you park and then take your luggage? Or can you drop off some and then go park?

For disembarking can you get porters to help go to the car?

We are trying to decide if driving ourselves is a better option then having someone drop us off and then pick us up.

    Thanks

  10. On my last few cruises...NO pick ups at pier...had to cross the street.. both with or without a porter..

(though I have no idea how they handle those in wheel chairs--that would be a question for NCL special needs department)

    Thanks for the replys.

Will the porter go across the street with us?

  11. Hi,

When leaving the terminal in NY on the ground level, is it possible to have your transportation pick you up at the entrance?

We are on the Gem next month. Taveling with wife in a wheelchair (unable to walk distances do to MS), son, DIL and 17monthold grandson. Not sure if we're going to be able to get ourselves and luggage accross 12th street to be picked up by a family member.

    Thanks for the help.

  12. Hi,

I'm looking for the Freestyle Daily that gave all the activities for the Guppie Program. I know I saw one recently but can't locate it even doing a search. I can't remember if it was in someone's review and was posted with all of the Freestyle dailies from the cruise.

We are on the Gem next month with my son and daughter in law and 17 month old grandson.

    Thanks for your help.
