  1. This is my first cruise with Silversea after 40+ cruises, primarily with Seabourn. I was interested in reading so many positive experiences with Silverair when my experience has not been positive. We paid for upgraded flights and all seemed to go well until I checked my flight on the Icelandair website and found I was in premium economy. I had my agent contact SS to find out why I was not in Business since that is what I paid for. They first said they could not accommodate because their contract was with Icelandair who doesn’t have Business Class, I think it’s called Saga, so what. My response was if you can’t accommodate,  schedule my flight through another city where I can get business class on a larger Icelandair plane. Against the rules, can’t do that. Rather than go through the back and forth which occurred several times, we got no satisfaction and SS became more adamant that they weren’t going to do anything. My cruise is in 5 weeks and I doubt it will be resolved. All I want is the international business class seating I paid for.

left unresolved it will be my only sailing with Silversea.

  2. I called Seabourn yesterday to ascertain their plans regarding changes in itinerary or cancellations as we are on a 12 day December Caribbean cruise. I was informed that Seabourn will make decisions concerning itinerary changes for the remainder of 2017 in two weeks and all persons scheduled on those cruises will be notified by email. There are no plans to cancel cruises.

  3. I recommend you try one of the online TA's. I have sailed Seabourne 5 times and on every occasion I been able to beat the Seabourn direct price by a few hundred dollars pp and still receive a shipboard credit. We are prohibited from mentioning names but there are some discount brokers that provide excellent service. I have booked four cruises this year through an online discount broker who recommends decks, cabins and sailings. They even send me interior pictures of the cabin before I book.

  4. My wife & I were on the November 27th sailing of the Sojourn as well. We felt the food was quite good and actually more options than on previous Seaboun sailings. I recognized several crew members from the smaller ships that told me they had been transferred to the Sojourn such as Bogdon the restaurant manager and Nelson the bartender. Their were several waiters in training and we experienced a number of occasions where the courses were delivered in the wrong order, such as salad before appetizer, and waiters were confused about who ordered what. I had a conversation with Bogdon and Annabel the cruise director about the experiences and Annabel stated that management was aware of the problem & it was being addressed. We found the staff & crew to be courteous and professional, although service was not what I have experienced in the past. I would like to think this was an anomaly and that Seaboun will get its act together. This was a cruise that started with having the captain being replaced after the previous captain had a heart attack and it seemed that it took a few days for things to settle down.

  5. On our cruise in the caribbean last month I did not find that Tuxedo's and DJ's were in the minority on optional formal night, just the opposite. There were however a number of men in dark suits and some in sport coats or blazers. some even without ties. It did not appear that anyone was turned away.
