    Hi Arno.

Just off the Silhouette and Capt. George is the Master.  I asked him till when and he said he would be going on vacation on 12/1.  Cruise Director was Sue Denning (just boarded in FLL on 11/8).

I really miss that they don’t publish the Whose On Board info anymore!

    Pat

They do publish it.  We just got off the Equinox and the Who's on Board paper was in the rack by Guest Relations.   On ship that we couldn't get one on was the Edge.  They were on a "green" program.

Dan will not be on the Reflection in March. He will be going back to Equinox after his vacation sometime the middle to end of March

Dan was back on the Equinox this past week.  I think he's one of the best CDs I've ever had!!  So funny and what a voice!!  We had Martin Bruehls on the maiden voyage of the Edge and he was awful.  Planned virtually no activities. He was the worst of over 35 Celebrity cruises.

The CD was Martin and he was a bit odd, but seemed like he was around a lot.  His pants were about 5 sizes too small and he spoke like a cartoon character, likely because of said pants.  I saw some English spelling, so I mean TROUSERS, not underpants.  I didn't inspect his underpants.

I can't say that we were interested in any lectures at sea, so we didn't really count those as activities.  I wouldn't really need any IT lectures, unless they were done on a professional level, so that's a moot point.

He was the opening CD on the Edge.  He was awful.  Almost no activities planned.  He was replaced after just a couple of cruises.

Deeva, I just got off the Edge. I gave our butler the info about Arturo - she will make sure his boss hears about the jewelry and they have your email address. She was very touched that someone went to the trouble of getting in touch with Arturo!😀

Thank you Marilyn!  I appreciate your help.  I sure hope you had a great cruise with no visits to medical!!!

Do the cabin stewards have access to the safe?   We've had a problem with the safe on two occasions, and someone from Security (I think) had to come and open the safe.  The steward said he couldn't do it.

    Thanks.

I was told by Celebrity that the room stewards sweep every safe when cleaning the room at the end of a cruise.

I don’t think they will remove and replace modules.  Hard to understand how they could do that in a few weeks.  More likely they will strip them down inside and renovate.

I heard that each room module would be taken out and a new module slid in.  Maybe someone cruising can ask again.

My thoughts on reading your original post regarding the reward were that you should possibly find someone you trust that is going to sail on Edge and have them hand deliver your reward to Arturo in a Thank You card from you.  That way, if they cannot find him, you will be assured that you will get the money back so you can try again at a later date with someone else.  I know the time is limited before we all cruise on the 20th, but maybe there is someone near you in north-central FL who can do this for you on another voyage.  That way you would know for sure that he did get it.  Just a thought...

Thanks!  I appreciate your input.  Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who is planning a trip on the Edge.  Hopefully, I will get it to him!

How sweet! I will certainly try my best to make contact with Arturo. I will also pass on the comments to GS (if that's okay with you) so that he gets recognized for this and will hopefully get some sort of recognition. I've had people we have commended on the ship receive extra time off or some other reward. One said he thinks he was promoted because of our praise for him. We saw him on the last cruise on the Edge and he ran up and gave us hugs and it was great to catch up. So, if he is unable to accept cash, I'm sure high praise in an email would be appreciated as well. 😊

You can pass this information on to whom ever you want to on the ship. I’m talking about a massive amount of jewelry that many people would’ve just taken and fenced somewhere so he really needs to be praised for his honesty. I would love to know who I should possibly try to contact so he gets rewarded for what he did.  If you have any suggestions, I will try to get in contact with other people. I appreciate you trying to do this for me. He deserves it.

    Interesting...Thanks!

    Marilyn,

I have a big favor to ask of you.  I've been desperately trying to get in touch with the room steward from my Dec. 9th Edge cruise. I had a senior moment when leaving my cabin and I left all my jewelry in the safe.  He returned every last piece of it and I want  to give him a big reward.  Would it be possible for you to give my email address to your room steward and ask him to pass it along to my room steward?  I have to discuss with him how I best could get this money to him.  I was in room 9230 and my steward's name was Arturo.  Hopefully there is only one Arturo and your steward would most likely know him.   My email is deeva211 at aol dot com.  I would really appreciate it if you could get this info to him. Thank you so much!

Well it was people like me, a Diamond X'er who stopped Royal from its Dynamic Dining crap.  I was on the maiden voyage of Quantum and never backed down.  The Edge is basically an upscale copy of the Quantum of the Seas, with the same Dynamic Dining rooms, but with a different set of names.  The concept and menu style is identical.  Notice that no menu changes during the week and they all have the same things offered, in the lower menu.  Yep, this Quantum's Dynamic Dining, all the way!

I actually liked the new dining arrangement.  That was one of the few things I did like on the Edge!!

Looking at the first picture, I really can't believe they have eliminated the true desk area and replaced it with this goofy sliding table concept.  This table thingy is completely non-functional and they have provided sharp corners on it to boot.  I wonder how many time people will run into those sharp corners on a 7-day cruise.  I may need to bring some of those plastic corner protectors we used on similar areas when our daughter was a toddler.  It appears that if that table is left in the extended location it would several cramp access at the corner of the bed.  Celebrity must not have invested in cabin mock-ups before they committed to these cabin concepts.  Someone should get fired over these cabin designs.

I'd rather have a drawer under the desk than that stupid slide out!

I'm a little confused...trying to envision these items in the S class ships, or do you mean these are features in some of the Edge class cabins but not in the concierge cabin you were in?  If you mean the S class, where was the shoe cabinet?  Been on every ship in this class and would love to know what I missed...LOL.

Yes, the typical IV cabin on the Edge has these things.  The accessible does not.

  13. I have been vocal about the things I did not like on the Edge.  The bars, the lack of activities during the day, the fact that I could only get Caffeine Free Diet Coke at some of the bars,  the IV "Florida Room" and the lack of nice music to enjoy while having drinks.  I really need to say that I thought the ship was absolutely gorgeous!!  Our room, an accessible concierge, was large and beautiful.  What it lacked compared to other cabins (the secret shoe cabinet, the drawers in the safe closet, the shelves on both sides of the mirror in the bathroom, the tiny hanging closet and the drawer under the sink) was made up in the actual size of the room.  We made use of Kelly's pillows by using them as foot cushions on the balcony "table."   The food was the best on the 35+ cruises I have taken.  I loved the 4 main dining rooms.  It was nice dining in a more intimate venue.  We booked each on for 2 nights except 1 for Tuscan.  I really loved the chance to sample the "Specialty' selections based on the theme of the dining room.  And I loved the 4 oz. filet mignon and mac and cheese from the kids menu that I ordered for dinner, 4 times I think!!  The Eden café was great for sandwiches.  They also had the best brownies I have ever had on a ship!  They were actually brownies; not cake!!   The service was 5 star!!  As an example, I did the dumbest thing in the world upon leaving the ship!!  I left all of my jewelry in the safe!  I didn't realize it until Monday evening.  On Tuesday, I filled out a lost and found claim.  Of course the ship wouldn't be back in port until Sunday and then Christmas intervened.  10 days after I left the ship, I got an email saying the jewelry had been found and it was being Fedexed to me.  I received it the next day!!  All of it!!  Maybe some of you can help me with a big problem now.  I want to send Arturo, our room steward for cabin 9230, a huge reward.  But how do I get a message to him? I know they move around the ship so he may be in a different area each week.  I really want to get his email so I can figure out with him, how to send him money.  For those of you about to go on the ship, maybe you can ask your room steward if they know Arturo.  Many thanks to those who attempt to find him for me!!!

Question about disembarking... Can you do "self-assist" to get off the ship, meaning you walk off with your own bags in tow as soon as the ship clears customs?  I have an early flight back...  Thanks and thanks again for taking the time to write all this!

Yes, the first groups off were the people hauling their own luggage.  Exit to the Gangway is right next to the Jewelry shop on deck 5.  Next to Raw on Five.

Will there be  wine tasting, cooking expos,  guest  lecturers, concerts in the lobby area, music in Cafe Baccio???..

No, there was none of that.  I did see a wine tasting though when I was exploring.  There were 6 people at it.  The whole Top Chef concept from 3-4 years ago is gone.  No cooking demos.  No music except canned blare!  The grand piano in the martini bar was not used.  We did finally get a guitar player for a hour the last night of the cruise.  When I first got back, I complained that there were no planned activities during the day other than paid spa things and paid exercise classes.  Somebody said, "there were activities!  I went to laser tag!"  He posted a picture with 4 people there!  I don't call that an activity that most cruisers would attend.

Along that lines I NEVER expected to see Ballroom dancing to be offered on The Edge. EDM (Electronic Dance Music) Latin; even maybe Swing Revival but DEFINITELY NOT Ballroom!

They used to hire dance hosts on Celebrity!!  They got a free cruise to come and dance with the passengers.

Let's really NOT OVERREACT. The hysteria (yes I'm using this word) from people who have NOT STEPPED FOOT ON THE EDGE IS BORDERLINE IDIOTIC. There are NOT roving gangs of Edenists marauding all over the ship. If you're sitting at the Martini bar or relaxing at Cafe al Bacio YOU WILL NOT SEE AN EDENIST. I was on the ship SO I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT.

    JUST STOP THIS!!!

Now you are passing on misinformation.  Just because you didn't witness it doesn't mean it's not happening.  I read in Café Al Bacio every day for about 3-4 hours (nothing else to do as there were no planned activities during the day)  and every day the Edenists came through and tried to interact with the cruisers.  I was on the ship Dec. 9-16.  Maybe there was enough negative talk about this that Celebrity made them stop but I doubt it!

Royal Caribbean have always offered this but not sure with Celebrity.

I have never been given a welcome aboard drink on a Royal cruise but Celebrity always has Champagne, Mimosas or OJ when you board.  20+ Celebrity cruises and they welcome you aboard with drinks every time!!

I've followed along with some pretty thorough and balanced reviews of the recently launched Celebrity Edge.  I am ever so appreciative of the comprehensive pictures, details, and even personalized answers to individual questions that have been provided by VTCruising and a few others.

    • a balcony table that's big enough to have breakfast
    • balcony loungers or comfortable seating
    • a ship library
    • intimate cocktail lounge areas ideal for conversation
    • reasonable charge for Thermal suite pass

Based on the above list of things that make you happy on a cruise, I think this is a wise decision.  You will love the Silhouette (my favorite ship!!)  Enjoy!!

So the misinformation continues to be spouted out about the Edge.

There are actually NINE bars serving alcoholic drinks for non suite guests.

    Martini bar

    The Club

    Casino bar

    Eden

    Magic Carpet

    Resort bar

    Sunset bar

    Café a Bacio

    Ocean View bar

I had the drinks package and it was used just as much as on my Reflection cruise earlier this year.

I would respectfully suggest you go back to your travel agent and ask her to stop misinforming her clients.

I was on the 7 day revenue cruise on Dec. 9th.  I don't think you TA gave you misinformation.  She was absolutely correct about the bars on the Edge.

Martini Bar-  You're lucky if you get a seat and most tables are for 2 so you can't sit and talk with other cruisers.  LOUD piped in entertainment except for the last night when they had a nice acoustical guitar player and singer.  Oh, in Cozumel, they brought aboard a very good violinist for 1 hour.  I understand that the Dec. 16th cruise actually had live music in the Martini bar before dinner every night.  Hopefully that will continue but why didn't we have that on our cruise????

The Club- Freezing cold.  No servers.  You had to go to the bar.  Few places to sit.  People were sitting onthe tomtoms!!!  A poetry class was being held in the same room and when they were through, they began a music mixing class.  No live music to enjoy except at the Elite + party.

Casino Bar-Not a place for pre and post dinner drinks.  No entertainment unless you enjoy the slot machine sounds.

Eden-Would be a good place if they had some live entertainment and I'm not counting the Edenists in that!!

    Magic Carpet-Closed for dinners.

Resort bar-After showering and dressing up for dinner, I'm not going to sit on bar stools at the pool.

Sunset bar-No servers were there when I was up there.  Again, it's outside and there was no live music.  To get there, you have to walk through the smoking section.  I went around to the port side to find a way out and couldn't so I had to walk back through the smoke to get out!

Café Al Bacio-Doesn't serve beer.  Limited wine and alcohol.

Ocean View- I'm not going to a cafeteria for pre and post dinner drinks.  Enough said!

The is no place like the Ensemble lounge and Rendezvous lounge on the Edge where you can enjoy drinks and live music.  Go back to the M and S class ships for that.  I hope they don't ruin those in the Revolution!!  I agree with the poster that stated that Celebrity has no reason to have more bars.  Most already paid for their alcohol packages so why make it easy for people to get drinks.  They'll make more money if you don't drink.

    When were you there?

Do they pass through or hang out?

Did they do their thing quietly so folks who were not interested could sit in peace or conversation.?

I hope our afternoon tea and coffee  time out won't be disturbed.  Mellow guitar would be nice!

I was there between 10am and 3pm.  They would hang out for a while and then move on.  I just ignored them and read my book.  They were quiet although there were a couple of times when they went running through.
