I'm so soory i've no idea what you mean as I do not visit the Casino.

Overall I,ll quit this Review, because i' ve never had such a bad cruise like this time..

We have a few MS and  balcony in a row, Deck 6 Aft.

If you are used to sleep  on daytime you are fine on this ship. Otherwise Avoid ....

They start  live music in the bars below stateroom at 1145 pm, playing until 1AM and then DJ Party on sunset bar starts until 3AM.

My mistiake this time: I traveled by car to the port this time, therefore i've to come back to Savona....otherwise i would have quit this cruise and flew home.

My conclusion: never again Costa, not even for free....

Dang!😬   I’m doing my first on the 26th on the Smeralda.  Hope I have better luck at the buffets and with the noise.  I have an interior cabin so I’ll keep my fingers crossed!

Can I bring a small case of diet iced tea aboard my ship (Costa Smeralda)?  I don’t like soda because of the fizz.  Most cruise lines will let you bring 10-12 cans/bottles aboard, but after reading all this mess about Costa and them not even serving tap water free at dinner, it makes me think they’ll probably not allow it. I’m from the USA if that makes any difference.  Your thoughts?

Their website, sadly, says no drinks of any kind are allowed to be brought on the ship.  I was surprised they didn’t even allow one bottle of wine to be brought in!  Might I suggest getting some individual packets of the diet iced teas to add to their mineral water.  ALSO, I have worked around the water issue by taking an empty yeti cup on board in my checked baggage.  I get ice buckets for my room several times a day.  I let it melt and use that for drinking water.  That combined with your packets might be your work around!

I am doing my first Costa cruise, on the Smeralda, leaving 1/26/24.  I’ve cruised over 20 times but this is my first European!

Has anyone used Costa’s bus service from Civitavecchia to FCO airport before? How was it?

and if we’re scheduled to arrive in port on the Costa Toscana at 8:30 AM, is a 1:50 PM flight safe or is that cutting it too close?

Did you have any issues arriving to the airport and getting checked in?  Did you have sufficient time to check your luggage and get thru customs without rushing?

  4. we are on the Carnival Paradise arriving in Cozumel on Wed, Aug. 8, hours 11am - 8pm. What time do downtown shops close? This is first time we will be on a ship that arrives late AND stays late. My recollection is that they close at 5 or 6. We are doing a 3hour snorkel excursion and think we may need to schedule shopping first. Thoughts?

  5. i don't want to travel with a bus load full of other cruisers to LFK where I stand in line with 60 other people to pay to hop on the ferry. Someone mentioned Rony's but all it shows on their site is cab ride RT but standing in same line as others when we get there. So for a party of 5 their cost for their driver to take us there and back is $25 pp. PLUS standard fee at LFK. Someone mentioned "shore excursions" .com but nothing pops up on google outside of Cozumel. Any suggestions?

  6. Go every year; however we only did the tour the first year, and it got us hooked. Ever since we just tell our driver to drive us there first thing to get our 10 bars of chocolate . They close around 1:30 in pm so don't go late!

  7. got this off the tsunami adventures website. they do snorkeling tour out of caye caulker for $35 pp for 3 hours as well

    SNORKEL FOR FREE CAYE CAULKER

You wouldn’t think we would want to tell you about free snorkeling, when we have all these wonderful tours we want you to go on.

Well, we all want somethings for free. It certainly isn’t going to be as good as a one of our reef tours, however it will surely be fun and hopefully you will be able to see lots of marine life.

If you have your own snorkeling gear, then great, if you need fins, we have them for rental for only $5BZ or $2.50USD if you need the full set. Mask, Snorkel and Fins we rent all day for $5.00USD a set. If you want a week, then you pay for 5 days rental and get two days free. It’s not entirely free but a heck of a deal.

The best place to go Snorkeling for Free is at the split. I often recommend to people to start from the end of our dock and swim around there and then onwards towards the split over the Sea grass beds, where you will see sea stars and young corals. Swim down along the seagrass edge towards the split bar area, swim along the wall, tons of fish. Dive down and under the ledge there is a few nurse sharks hiding out. You may see some lobsters hiding in the cracks. Swim accross the split and snorkel through the mangroves. Lots of fish hiding out in the mangroves.

Be careful crossing the split. Look both ways twice and then swim across fairly fast and get to the side of the mangroves.

If you are a little more adventures, swim around the whole South island of Caye Caulker. Stay close to shore. We do not recommend swimming out to the reef with out a canoe or kayak and life jackets, as well as permission from the Caye Caulker Marine Reserve.

With a good eye you can spot hidden Sea Horses wrapped around the mangrove roots.

If you have plenty of energy consider renting a canoe or kayak with a friend. We have double canoes and 1 double kayak for rental at Tsunami Office for $25USD all day or $7.50USD an hour. You can paddle out to the Reef, with permission of the Caye Caulker Marine Reserve and a $10BZD per person fee. So this pretty much defeats the purpose of FREE SNORKELING….but if you need more information about this, then you now know it is available
