  1. Rachel - Just an FYI - I am not seeing any of the photos you posted. You might check the posts on "the other forum" from the group that just disembarked - if I recall correctly, it seems to be an issue with Silverseas blocking some photo hosting sights - but they found a way to get around it. Looking forward to your posts - we have not been to Dutch Harbor or Kodiak yet either, and it's on our bucket list.

  2. I am enjoying your thread Jackie, as we will be cruising Alaska on the Mariner next summer. Getting some good ideas for shore excursions. We only cruised on Mariner once before (we did the Circle South America in one of the standard suites - it was pretty cramped for a 70+ day cruise!), so thanks for the photos of the PH suite - it looks MUCH roomier! We are trying a Horizon View for Alaska (just so we have the great rear facing balcony), but we are signed up for a PH suite for the 2020 World cruise. Hope they keep adequate storage a priority on the upcoming refurbishment!

  3. I am really missing the old "list" view under the search results where I could see lot's of cruises listed at one time on the same page - now only get 8 or so per page. Agree with previous comment about the shore excursions - wish we still had the "list" and could just select the ones we wanted to read about instead of scrolling thru the entire list.

  4. Thanks Jackie! We cruised with Jan on the Circle South America Cruise a few years back and then met up with him again on a Navigator a couple of years ago.

Titos here in Austin is about $20.00 for a 750ml bottle - Grey Goose about $30.00, but I like Titos better.

Sure am envious of the cooler temps you guys are having - sure beats the 100 degree weather here in Texas!

We too have noticed different behaviors among the groups on excursions over the years (we too are Platinum cruisers with Regent). Oddly enough, we have noticed some of the "rudest" behavior on those cruises where we have a lot of repeat cruisers. My DH and I tend to just resolve ourselves to "bring up the rear" - we hate the pushing and shoving for position, and we honestly like the back of the bus! So it works out for us - we just sit back and shake our heads and smile!! Or, like you, we just end up venturing out on our own a lot.

  5. It may not be on the menu, but they do stock quite a few flavored vodkas, mostly Absolut brand - I have seen Citron, Kurant, Mandrin, Pear, & Apple We are Long time Regent Cruisers, and have mostlty been successful in getting our special requests. For the past coupe of years, we have found you need to try and make special requests at least 3 months out, especially for cruises originating in Europe, as they have to get the product shipped to the embarkation port, and many times it comes from Florida.

  6. My husband and I are long time Regent cruisers. We always sit by ourselves. As TedC said, when you arrive at the main restaurant (Compass Rose) you just tell them you want a table for 2. During peak times, you may have to wait for a spell. We like to eat late, so we usually don't have a problem being seated right away.

We cruised on the QM2 once and were in the Queen's Grill. The Compass Rose is much larger than the Queen's Grill (probably a bit larger than the size of the Queen's Grill and Princess Grill combined). We sat at the same table every night in the Queen's Grill, so that will be the biggest difference for you on the Regent cruise. There is no reserved seating.
