I have another question. On some of the ships there were these kiosks where you could swipe your card and get a print out of all charges that you've made on the ship. How do you get that with the Medallion?
I just got off the Royal this past Saturday. There were 2 kiosks on deck 5 near the Passenger Services desk. All you do is press your Medallion on the appropriate place on the screen and it prints out your charges as usual.

The Wine Makers Dinner looks yummy. What dining room is it in?
-
I live 10 minutes from the Port of Los Angeles. We have bright sunshine and no smoke as I am writing this. In fact this area has had no impact from these horrible fires.

Thank you all for your replies. My late husband and I attended the Winemakers dinner 2 times a few years ago and they were longer cruises. But this time I am going with family on the 7 day and I would like for them to experience it also.

Does the Royal Princess offer the Winemakers Dinner on a 7 day cruise?

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Which dining room is used for lunch on embarkation day? Sailing this coming Tuesday ( Sept. 11) to Alaska.

I just returned from my first solo cruise, the Star Princess 15 days Hawaii. I had early traditional dining (5:30) and it worked very well for me. I was at a table for 8. There were two married couples, two single women friends traveling together, another widow and me, a widow. All were very friendly and compatible. We had very pleasant meals, and great conversations. I had breakfast every morning in the MDR and always asked to share. Always seated at a table for 6 or 8. It could be a mix of couples or others having breakfast alone for various reasons. Lunch was at various venues, never in the MDR. I had been a little nervous about how the dining experience. Maybe I was just lucky.

Just returned from the Star Princess cruise to Hawaii. For both Friday's it was listed in the Patter for passengers to conduct the service.

This past August we stayed at Les Jardins de Eiffel which is a small hotel with a nice buffet breakfast included. It was a few blocks from the Rue Cler Market street which has many restaurants and shops. Also about 3 blocks from a Metro station and 10 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower. Our room was small by American standards but very nice with a nice modern bathroom. The best part was that we had a great view of the Eiffel Tower from our room and the bathroom.

We used Smiths this past August from central London to Southampton. I would certainly recommend them.

For location I would choose the Hilton Green Park. The neighborhood is outstanding for theatres, sights, the underground, Chinatown, Soho and many museums all in walking distance.
Agree totally. We stayed here for 5 nights the past August and it was a great location and very nice hotel. Also just across the park from Buckingham Palace and that area. Just behind the hotel was an area with several Pubs and some other restaurants as well. The included buffet breakfast was very nice.

Dear CRUISE2RELAX (the OP).
Were the central stairs open both for heading TO your muster stations and then after for heading FROM muster back to cabin?
We were just on the Royal and the central stairs were open both to the muster station and after from the muster station.

I don't imagine you can get robes in an inside stateroom, or is that possible?
Thanks
There are robes for everyone in your cabins. Sometimes they are still in the laundry on embarkation day, but just ask your steward for them.

One secret that is no more: You used to be able to order fresh berries at breakfast in the main dining room. Not any more.
This must be pretty new. I was on the Island for her last 2 cruises before her dry dock (the Panama Canal and the T/A to Venice) and had fresh berries every morning.

The last time we applied the credit to the statement rather then OBC.
This is what we did also.

In answer to the OPs question, I have never contacted Princess about this. To me, that smacks of looking a gift horse in the mouth. They offer what works for them - their rules and their perks- and my choice is to take it or leave it.
Agree completely.

Hi Sue, thank you for posting. I'm on this cruise in August so am very interested. I had already seen your other postings and have enjoyed them. No questions at this time but will look forward to hearing more from you.

Nancy 48, thank you for posting. We are on this cruise in August so will be following along. I had already looked at your postings on the other board. Very helpful information. I'll be looking for more.

I used to get a blanket when I asked. The last three cruises on Princess they said they didn't have any. ??? I always do get a top sheet.
We have always gotten a blanket and top sheet when we asked We have been on about 28 cruises the last two Back to Back on the Island before her drydock.

As far as I know only the Grand Princess, Sapphire Princess, (and with the expanded menus and larger venue) Regal Princess and Royal Princess.
:D
We were on the Island before it went into dry dock and they had Alfredo's in Sabatini's for lunch. Pizza only but very good. There were 5 choices.

Yes, you get it all at once. They will leave the lids on the plates if you so desire, but you do need to be ready to eat every course one after another.
And don't order a desert with ice cream. We did, not really thinking about it, and it came with the rest of the dinner.. The desert still was really good even with melted ice cream. We did put the dish in the refrigerator but with no freezer it melted.

On previous cruises I've never been sure how to handle the dirty dishes after we enjoy the food. I know tossing them overboard or hiding them under the bed are inappropriate, but do we leave the tray in the room for the steward to have to deal with or leave in the hall for fellow passengers to trip over? What do you think works best?
We always leave our tray in our room. I think it is much better than leaving then in the hall.
Medallion has not arrived

We also are sailing November 19 and received an email the medallions had been sent. And also the tracking number says the one we have is invalid.
