  1. Good for you to have shot the fountain show. Looking forward to it in 2 weeks.

    Thanks.

Be sure to check the platter for times. We missed it the first couple of nights because we got there too late. They only run the show a few times a night. When we were there the last show was 10:15pm.

    Have a wonderful cruise!

  2. Loved it. Thank you once again.

By the way, you have no idea how many times I have watched the nougat being sliced on your first video :D Great editing!

The nougat store was located in Old Town, Aix-en-Provence (Port of Marsaille). It's a wonderful town with narrow and busy streets lined with numerous stores selling local flavors. This particular store was located near the plaza that was somewhat like a farmer's market.

What was special about this nougat is that it's made with pure honey and contains no sugar. Absolutely delicious!

One of the best cruises I've ever taken. Appreciate you reminding me of the beautiful ship and ports. On from June 25--July 16.

Also caught a glimpse of one of my favorite guys on the cruise directors staff.

Matt33. We've had him on a few cruises and he always cracks me up.

    Pam

Yes, the cruise director's staff was cool and energetic. I enjoyed their programs and company.

  3. Thanks again for all your kind comments and compliments.

Jerica21: I hope you'll enjoy your upcoming Med cruise!

Mrsgoggins: Thanks for sharing the link. I hope your family members like the video too.

    Clarea: Thank you for watching!

I actually have more videos of the ship and the cruise and I'll post more if anyone is interested in seeing them :)

  4. Thanks everyone for your prompt response! Really appreciate it!

It's perfectly fine to buy the bottle and share it with the table. My husband normally buys the drink package for himself and then buys the 40% off wine at dinner for me. No worries, it's allowed.:D

Thank you for sharing your personal experience. That's exactly what I'm planning to do -- the package for myself and bottles of wine for da wife in the dining room.

The wine purchased by a pax with the AIBP can be shared with anyone. Since I told you this, I think you owe me some of that wine!

If you are on the Royal Princess next Saturday (Barcelona to Rome) I'll be very happy to share my wine with you :)

  5. Thanks all for your response.

One more question: This is our first time doing self-disembark with Princess (first time with an early flight to catch in FCO). So how does that work? Do we just go line up at the gangway at 6:30am or so and just wait for disembarkation to begin? (We are ruby only so no access to the platinum lounge.)

  6. I am fully aware that I am not supposed to share drinks and I am perfectly OK with that. However, if I purchase a bottle of wine in the dining room under this offer, may I share the bottle with other people in my party?

Note that I am only getting a discount, and not the whole bottle for free like wine by the glass. So logically, I would say that I should be allowed to share the bottle.

    Thoughts, anyone? Anyone had experience?

    Thanks in advance!

  7. The Royal Princess arrives at 5am. What is a realistic time that disembarkation begins? We are going to book a private car transfer to FCO. What time should I ask the driver to show up at the ship? We have a 11:40am flight to the US (NOT to EU countries) so we need to be at the airport by 8:40am at the latest.

Any information and advice will be appreciated.

  8. It's more than just being "fair" or "unfair". It has to do with being competitive in the business. This is an area where Celebrity wins big over Princess. On Celebrity, EACH elite member gets a cocktail reception each evening, and breakfast is served at the Captain's Club Lounge with bloody mary and mimosa (versus no private breakfast on Princess).

  9. Two questions:

    1. These 2 cabins are in the same class (BC) and therefore, same price, as their neighboring cabins but the picture shows that it has a much larger balcony. Does anyone have experience staying there and can comment on the size of the balcony?

    2. At this location, I would assume that noise is a major issue -- coming both from the pool area as well as the stairs/elevator right outside the cabin. Could anyone comment on the noise issue or share your experience?

    Thanks in advance!

  10. Could someone please clarify which transportation (vehicles) are allowed to pick you up right at the ship, and which are at the outside gate -- that is, you'll need to take the free shuttle to get to them.

We will be in a tight schedule and would like to make sure we book the right car that will met us right at the ship.

    Thanks in advance!

  11. I looked at your image source and it is not a direct link. Your image source is:

    Celebrity Reflection

Which is a link to a flickr page. To post a picture on the body of a post, you'll need to copy and paste a direct link as I show you in the beginning of this thread. A valid direct link will always end in .jpeg

Correction: Should end in .jpg (although some websites may use .jpeg but it is rare).

  12. I've had no problems posting photos before on CC, but now all of a sudden I can only post links to photos. I have more than 10,000 photos on Flickr, and when I post the photo link to be used for sharing, it doesn't work as it used to. Here's an example. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

  13. Appreciate, Peter, the comments, suggestions and ideas/potentials. I didn't know that we could re-size things through the Photobucket website. I will check it out.

My/our challenge/question is multilevel. ...... Cruise Critic Editor In Chief Carolyn Spencer Brown has been very supportive and even asked and borrowed a few of my pictures to use to illustrate a trip she was doing along the Norway coast.......

THANKS for the interest and ideas! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

    .....QUOTE]

Never said your pictures are not nice. Many people take nice pictures too and then put a link to those pictures in their post. That is really good.

I am glad for you that some official at Cruse Critic person wants to use you photo, I am sure others have contributed as well.

More to the point, I am active on a number of forums and they also have people that post photos. Those forums have asked that the photos be of a specific size, (400X600 or 600X800) and limited them as such because the storage room on their servers was being filled up with huge photoo data. They have also asked posters that quote posts witrh photos to delete the photos of the text they are quoting, again because the servers are filling up fast with extrraneous data. You can imagine how a site like this accumulates data. Cruise Critc would be well served by saving space and money if they restricted the size of the posted images.

All that to say, for a post, a smaller photo still fits well, is still crisp and, takes up considerably less screen size, not to mention server space. A 600X800 pixel image will print an 8 X 10 inch photo very nice and sharp. It does not need to be any higher unless you intend to make wall sized posters.....and if that is wanted, they can always ask you to e-mail a higher resolution photo to them.

If the pictures are stored in Photo Bucket and hosted by Photo Bucket, it doesn't cost Cruise Crictic anything -- that's why they allow us to post large pictures that are hotlinked.

On the other hand, if you attached a picture here (as an attachment), you'll see that it is automatically resized to a tiny size, obviously to save storage space and bandwidth.

  14. Appreciate, Peter, the comments, suggestions and ideas/potentials. I didn't know that we could re-size things through the Photobucket website. I will check it out.

My/our challenge/question is multilevel. First, I have about 2000 pictures on the Photobucket website sized at this 1000 pixel width. These were all primarily done for posting on a website such as Cruise Critic. Maybe the re-sizing would be quick and easy, but then ALL of these newly-re-sized picture codes would need to be manually copied and transferred to be placed under the picture description text that matches each individual item throughout all of my travel files. That's lots of time and effort for copying and pasting, editing, etc. My overall picture library is much, much large and at the original sizes from when shot over the past couple of decades. Some of my pictures even go back to 1970 sides that have been digitized from Europe travels at that time.

Second, I recognized that not everyone has the same, good, higher-speed cable/Internet service. I do lots of survey and research work in this area and fortunately know that more and more people are getting faster, better web speeds. Things are improving in many of the country and world. BUT, others are limited by slower service and/or with computers that are not as fast, having a smaller screen, etc.

Finally, like with flat-screen TV's and cars, different people have varied tastes, interests, styles, etc. Some love things larger with more visual details shown. Others are happy with smaller and more basic. On size, what is the right, best size for everyone?? Many like the 1000 width that I use. Others would prefer a more "medium" size of maybe 800. Or, others might say do it at 600 or 500. Or, maybe 400? A few don't like any pictures at all on these boards, viewing the written word as all that is needed in the 21st Century. Cruise Critic Editor In Chief Carolyn Spencer Brown has been very supportive and even asked and borrowed a few of my pictures to use to illustrate a trip she was doing along the Norway coast.

Did a June 7-19, 2011, Celebrity Solstice cruise from Barcelona that had stops in Villefranche, ports near Pisa and Rome, Naples, Kotor, Venice and Dubrovnik. Enjoyed great weather and a wonderful trip. Dozens of wonderful visuals with key highlights, tips, comments, etc., on these postings. We are now at 113,893 views for this live/blog re-cap on our first sailing with Celebrity and much on wonderful Barcelona. Check these postings and added info at:

Just FYI... if you use the "save and replace" option the codes do not change:
