  1. @Cruiseonthebrain.

Where do you live?? I am asking because here in California there are many acupuncturists available and I know there are others in many states.

I am well informed about these things as my son practices Chinese medicine and has 2 clinics here in San Diego. He has colleagues in many other states.

    @welshcorgie

Any condition, like Crohns, where the patient has had it for a while , takes more than 1 treatment like sciatica.

IF there is a new injury , like you've just pulled a muscle and are in pain, then the acupuncture works right away ! I hope your son finds something that works for him!

My son is 30 yrs old and has had it since 15 yrs old. He has no colon left. If he can have any positive results at all with it I will be extremely thankful. We live on the Minnesota/Wisconsin border an hour north of the Twin Cities so if you know of anyone that has worked with Crohn's patients please let me know. I am an RN. Medically he has tried everything and also experimental drugs. This would be a godsend!

  2. I am going to book my son for acupuncture for his crohns as soon as we board. He is uncontrolled and the pain meds aren't working very well. He does go to a pain clinic. He is willing to try it on the cruise. Anyone else had it for crohns control? Oh, the meds for crohn's other than pain meds don't work for him either and he has tried everything. We are grasping at straws, hoping for a miracle. Say a prayer that this works.

  3. Okay, it is sold out.

Just because I would like to know, where does it sail out from to end up at San Juan on Feb.2? I am just wondering if it is worthwhile keeping an eye out on this ship in case someone cancels their trip.

It sails from Miami 1/23 and arrives in SJU 2/2 and then back to Miami. B2B Journey cruises.

  4. Does anyone know anything about these guys? We are doing two journey cruises and will be on for 21 days and are wondering how energetic and fun they are. We have had a blast with WEE JIMMY and several others but have never run into either of theses two. Any thoughts???

  5. I can't seem to find my answer maybe someone can help...I know there's only been two or so journeys cruises so far but I'm curious about the 80s throwback stuff. Is there an 80s themed deck party? Or is it just a daytime thing? Trying to figure out what to bring for throwback clothing if anything.

    Thanks

I've been looking also. Another question--what "island" entertainment did you have?

  6. I just got off the Sunshine March 7th. I was skeptical after I booked the Sunshine and read all the reviews. Thank goodness I am an open minded person. I think she is one of my favorite ships even over the dream. I will admit that the chair hogs are ridiculous ( I seen a lot of people have a hammock & lounger at the same time & others who just abandon the chair for hours) this seemed to be a problem on sea days. The food was awesome, so many endless possibilities, that I didn't get to try everything even though I tried real hard. So many bars with endless drink possibilities. Alchemy...all I can say is WOW!!! The bar staff is incredible, it is like I work of art. the live entertainment was great, I always made a point to see Brian...the others were great too, (Brian was my favorite). I enjoyed the other entertainers as well, the juggler, the shows, the comedians. The dance club was different in the fact it was in the lounge where the shows were held (a little too big, even though they didn't use the upstairs). Our balcony room was spacious, def enough room, it stayed cool, the trick being the air conditioning cuts off when you open the balcony door. I wish there was a fridge. The workers were exceptionally nice, eager to always help. The water slides were fun. Due to rough seas the rope course wasn't open much. I loved how the lido marketplace was split up, so I never witnesses any lines. The serenity deck was great, just wished there were more hot tubs & bigger pool. I hope the rumor is true that the Sunshine is coming to Charleston, I would sail her again in a heartbeat.

IMO any cruise, or land vacation for that matter, is what you make it. If you believe that it will be bad it will be. We will be on the Sunshine with 5 of our grandchildren in a week or so and are also on the next Sunshine cruise the following week with our adult son and his fiance'. We are very excited! What more could you ask for to do if you were a young person or older, for that matter? Will let you know how it goes when we return. POSITIVE ATTITUDE BEGETS POSITIVE RESULTS!!!!!!!

  7. we do our laundry , that morning , for the second week, the laundry rooms are locked, but just ask and they will open for you...no one around, fast..

It is the most amazing feeling in the world to see the passengers leaving and your NOT...

Enjoy , and be prepared to do more B2B cruises as they are addicting...we will be doing our 10th in Feb..

We also do laundry-----nice and quiet.

  8. The Valor does not appear to have started using the new menu. Can anyone who has been on the Valor recently post information about the Dinner menu for the Main Dining Room?

Does anyone know when the new menu program will expand to all of the ships?

We just got off on Feb. 2 and they still had the old menus served the same way as prior.

  9. Thanks for that! Though we have never had a problem with anyone, it's nice to know that we will be with some gay friendly cruisers! I haven't exactly mentioned it on our Roll Call but everyone else seems to be very friendly also. You will most likely see us at the roll call meeting. When/where is that exactly or have we decided yet? :)

Not as of yet. We had briefly discussed it a while ago and if memory serves me right we decided on the aft pool bar but no specific time. Many people will be using the Cheers program and don't want to pay again for open bar at an official Meet and Greet.

  10. We are not GLBT, but are very glad that you are joining us on the cruise. We were on the Glory last year during the GLBT cruise in November and it was the best cruise that we have ever been on. We met the NICEST people ever. I would say that about 1/3 of the cruise passengers cancelled their cruise a week before we left when they found out who was going to be on the ship---Well, THEIR LOSS. Welcome aboard!!

shawne71- You will have to come and see our cabin as we are in the UPPER deck aft wrap on this cruise. We were in the same cabin last year and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the balcony. We spent most of our time there and also had many sunset viewing parties with others that we met on the cruise.

Look forward to meeting you all and check out the other roll call.

  11. Out of all the ports, I would have to say that this was my least favorite...which is kinda hard considering I didn't even get off the ship in Belize. But it's true. And at the end of the day, I know there were plenty on Legend that echoed my sentiments.

It was a windy day, and the sea was raging, so it was announced that we would be tendering from a different location that day. We never heard this announcement because for whatever reason, announcements were not piped into our room. I don't know if this was just an issue with our cabin, or if this is something CCL doesn't do anymore. But, if you want to hear the announcements, you had to be out of your room to do it. So, the tender chance was a nice, port-day surprise.

Itinerary said we would be in Cayman from 10am to 6pm. All the water activities were cancelled by the Cayman Port Authority, so no one got to see stingrays that day. CCL still had some excursions available, but they all seemed so overpriced...which is what they should call the island...Overpriced Island.

Anyway, by the time we got our tender stickers, and were herded off the ship, we set food on land at 12:15pm. We had tender sticker 24. We talked with people who had earlier ones, they didn't get to the island not much earlier than us. I don't know if this was because of the choppy water, or if it had to do with two other ships visiting, and tender boats had to be divvied up between the three. To their credit, a HAL ship seemed to use their own tender boats.

    Back to the island...

We set foot on ol' terra firma, and what greeted us nothing short of chaos. There were shuttles and taxis there. Tour operators waving signs around and asking if you wanted to go "kiss a stingray". (Slutty stingrays!) Log and I just wanted to go visit the Turtle Farm and stop downtown. We were passed off to at least five different drivers, each one giving us different quotes on how much they would charge us that day. Another family (with two cute twin girls) were also having a frustrating time as they wanted to charge the same rate per little kid as they did grownups...which was $15 per person. So, for a family of four, it cost them $60 just for a cab right. Not including the $10 per person to get into the Turtle Farm (I hope they charged a reduced rate for kids).

So, the cab driver packed his van tighter than grandma's colon, and we were whisked away to the Turtle Farm...we we were allowed 30 minutes because the driver was not willing to wait any longer than that for us. We were not able to join a guided tour. Instead, we raced around, snapping pictures, touching turtles, and doing a fly by the gift shop. I would have enjoyed staying there longer, but Dale the Sullen Van Driver would not have allowed it.

We inquired if there was a restaurant that served plantains (Log loves them). Dale recommended a place called Breezes. Oh, they had plantains, but it was only served with only one particular dish (they were not willing to budge on this) and you could not order them as a side. The drinks cost just as much as the food, which wasn't that stellar to begin with. Between Log and myself, we each had an average lunch, and one drink each. Total cost $70. I understand that the Cayman dollar is stronger than the American one. And I understand that they have to import pretty much everything on the island. But $70 for a subpar lunch seems a bit ridiculous to me.

By this time, we were completely turned off of the whole island, so we decided to forgo the shopping, and just go back to the ship. We found a really nice shuttle driver this time, and she gave us a ride back to the tender loading area, where they proceeded to overload the tender boat and chug back to the ship. Just as we got back on the ship, the skies opened up and rain came down like the angry fist of God. Which sort of summed up our feelings about Cayman nicely.

In Cayman you can take the city bus, which is a van, and it only costs $0.75pp if my memory serves me right. We were in Cayman and took the bus back from the Turtle Farm and it took us right to the port with 2 or 3 stops along the way. Just go to the bus stop signs on the main drag and they will be by every 15-30 min.
