What a fantastic job you have done and how much help you provide is unbelievable. If you ever make it to Arizona I invite you to come and stay with us and visit our State!

I hate to bother you again I know you must remember me. I have read and read the Frommers book and would love to have a month in Stockholm! But one last time can you help me organize a few days going from our hotel ÖRLOGSHOTELLET Teatergatan 3, 111 48 Stockholm

My husband and I will be arriving in Stockholm on May 25th and will be there for 4 days

before we board our cruise ship Celebrity Silhouette.

We plan on arriving taking a taxi from Arlanda airport to our hotel to check in by 2 pm .

    Our hotel is

    ÖRLOGSHOTELLET

    Teatergatan 3, 111 48 Stockholm

The evening of the 25th we plan on doing the Canal Ride eating and then retiring for the night.

Will the Stockholm Card give us unlimited access to the Hop on Hop Off Boat?

Are there any discounts for foreign seniors purchasing the Card?

We plan on buying the Stockholm Card, should I do it online or wait till I arrive?

The cost of 2 Cards for 2 Adults for 3 days would be $193. Will the 3 days be enough to see everything below? I want to keep the cost down as much as possible.

Starting the 26th what would you suggest we so day on 26th, 27th, 28th

    Gamma Stan

    Vasa Museum

    Drothingham Palace

    Djugarden

    Montelus vagan

    ABBA Museum Stockholm City Hall

To Vaxholm by boat and return by Bus

What order would you suggest we visit these sites from our hotel to make the most of each day 26th 27th.

On the 28th we leave our hotel and go to board the ship which will be in port till 3 pm on the 29th. So I hope on the 28th we can do the Vaxholm trip in afternoon and return by bus

    early pm on the 28th

Is it possible if we are well organized??? thank you so much!!!

  2. Desdichado62,

One last question from me. What will temp in F be May 25th to 28th and will it be colder in St Petersburg. Coming from Phoenix Arizona winter closes are very lite--nice sweat shirts lite jacket and jeans, tennis shoes. Will that work as we cruise to Amsterdam or should I include shorter pants like capri's I happen to be very comfortable at 85 degree and dress warm at

    65 F

In Phoenix Arizona we have very little to no humidity so 100 F degree feels comfortable.

I assume gloves, hat scarf and umbrella might be needed

once more help please, Does this sound like a good itinerary from our B& B

For our 3 days in Stockholm. It is supposed centrally located it is

    Drottning Victorias Örlogshem

    ÖRLOGSHOTELLET

    Teatergatan 3, 111 48 Stockholm

Mon May 25th arrive Stockholm Amanda airport at 11 am----train or taxi to our B$B which is better with luggage train or taxi and what would it cost? we are 74 and 78 but in good health.

I think by 3:30 PM we would be checked in hotel and ready to so something

Thinking of canal tour but 2 hrs to get overview Stockholm

http://www.stromma.se/en/Stockholm Under the Bridge tour? Your thoughts/

    Under Bridge, 2 hrs

    Royal Grand Tour 1 hr

    Historical Stockholm tour 1 hr

The Under The Bridge Tour is suggest that will give us best overview of Stockholm

Tues May 26th because our B&B centrally located is it walking distance

to to early go 1st to City Hall, walk to Royal Palace for see changing of

guards see other museums in area, then on to Gamla Stan were we we can spend much time as we want, is this realistic taking our tie walking?

Wed May 27th at 8:30 am Vase and Djurgarden ( we have to get tickets to Vase Museum before we go I think can we walk from our B&B?

Thurs May 28th we leave our B&B Drottning Victoria and check into Cruise Ship Celebrity Silhouette- with luggage should we take train or bus are cabs, least expensive with luggage? The Ship is docked at F638 Frihamnen in Stockholm. there are others fro the cruise also staying here so we might be able to share a taxi if one can fit us and luggage. I think it is a 30 minute ride to the dock right?

After checking into cruise ship at 11 am we could like leave the ship and do the boat to Stockholm Vaxholm? Is it worth it to go by boat and return by bus? or should we do something else? our ship does not sale till the 29th so we are in no hurry and thought while others are arriving for cruise we could see Vaxholm.

Any other suggestions on what;s close to our B& B and other things we should not miss on our 1st and last trip to this area?

We arrive May 25th and are from Phoenix so will weather be cold for us- used to warm weather and our winter clothes consists of jeans sweat shirts and light jacket,

Thank you so much I the more I read the more the more I not sure we are seeing the things we should in our 3 + days.

should we have credit card with chip or Rubles in Stockholm---we are not big eaters-so basic ethnic food is will we be looking for.

  5. Appreciate the info on the Hop on Hop Off Bus-we will try one

    Question:

My husband 78 has some difficult walking long distances without stopping and resting a little

We arrive West Harbor in Helsinki Sat May 30th at 10 am and would like to go straight to

the Rock Church---what best way to go? Can we hire a Taxi for 4 hours? What would cost?

Should we do the taxi to the Rock Church and take our time walking down (rather then up)

Is there a walking map to use if we decide to walk down at our own pace without getting lost

and still seeing as much as possible?

If there are areas to stop get a coffee or something every 1/2 mile we will do fine

Would it be a scenic walk or should we get a tram down?

  6. Boat tours: either of Historic or under bridges will be fine. Especially since you will do Djurgården on your own later.

    Transport from airport to hotel:

A taxi would cost a little over 60 US dollars, the airport express train would cost about half compared to taxi according to current price list.

Add about 15 dollars if you want to take taxi from the railway station to the hotel.

As for Vaxholm, Strömmas classic ships does not have trips to Vaxholm on weekdays in May.

The Cinderella boats will probably have connections but no timetable is available at the moment.

However, Waxholmsbolaget WILL have connections but the time table for May is not available yet

These boats are not bookable. You just show up 15-20 min before the boat leaves.

Tickets are usually bought on-board and the ticket price is 50 SEK one way for you (reduced price),

    Cinderella boats website: http://www.stromma.se/en/Skargard/Cinderella-Boats/

    Waxholmsbolaget website; http://www.waxholmsbolaget.com/visitor/resa/resmal/vaxholm/

For the return trip, no time table are available yet.

Whats your feelings about the location of this B&B

Drottning Victorias Örlogshem B&B located at

    Teatergatan 3, 111 48 Stockholm, Sweden

  7. Desdichado62,

Well I am back for you advice! Finally booked a B&B that sounds reasonable for Hubby and me. You gave me such good information on were to start first on our 3 days in Stockholm before our cruise May 28.

Would you please review my idea of were to spend or start each day as listed below? This being our 1st and last trip and both in our 70's I would greatly appreciate your input.

Mon May 25th arrive Stockholm at 11 am----train or taxi to our B$B which is better with luggage train or taxi and what would it cost?

  8. Do you think buying a Stockholm Card for our 3 day stay before the cruise in May will save us money? We are staying at Central Hotel in Stockholm close to Central station-at least that is what I have booked so far--with hopes price will go down in few months.

With you previous help this is what I put together for our 3 days stay before we board the ship:

Mon May 25th arrive Stockholm at 11 am----train to Central Hotel and check in

I think by 3:30 PM we would be checked in hotel and ready to so something

Thinking of canal tour ( not sure which one) but 2 hrs to get overview Stockholm

    Under Bridge, 2 hrs

    Royal Grand Tour 1 hr

    Historical Stockholm tour 1 hr

The Under The Bridge Tour is suggest that will give us best overview of Stockholm?

After the boat tour we would be ready to get dinner and back to Central Hotel

I think this would keep us awake and doing something till bed time.

Tues May 26th because our Hotel is walking distance

Start early go 1st to City Hall, walk to Royal Palace for see changing of

guards see other museums in area, then on to Gamla Stan were we we can spend much time as we want

Wed May 27th at 8:30 am Vase and Djurgarden

The boat trip to Vaxholm when times are posted

  9. Hi JoAnn,

Do you mean the Hotel Brouwer B&B on the Singel Canal?

I haven't stayed at the hotel but it is very centrally located. Trams 1, 2, 5, 13 & 17 depart from the tram stop only a few blocks from your hotel (Nieuwezijds Kolk). These trams will take you practically anywhere you want to go in Amsterdam. It is a lovely city and very walkable (or use a combination of walking + tram).

You are quite close to the cruise terminal - about 15 minutes by tram or 10 minutes by taxi. I would recommend a taxi to/from the port due to your luggage.

If you plan on visiting the Anne Frank House, make sure that you purchase your tickets online. The queues are usually quite long.

I have been to Amsterdam many times, most recently last May. Email me if you have any specific questions (my email link is at the bottom of my post).

Yes it is hotel Brower, I could not find your email address would you mind emailing me at jmccurdy1@cox.net I do have several questions beings we will be there for 3 days

I am looking at tours that might be reasonable for areas ooutside of Amsterdam that are kind of "must see places"

Also can you suggest places we should visit on our own beings we are centrally located.

I would like to find a tour person like a taxi or van that would be willing to do tour for 2 or maybe 4 people if I can find someone else from our cruise that is also staying a few days after the cruise, sharing the cost means we get to see more.

Any suggestions for reasonable restaurants close to Hotel Brower.

I did find this site but prices are high for 2 or 4 http://www.amsterdamcitytours.com/

    JoAnn

  10. Travelanni

My husband and I in our mid 70's will be docking in Amsterdam on the Celebrity Silhouette on June 9th and staying at the Hotel Broumer B&B for 3 nights. The price was right and reviews seems ok and they have elevator. So do you think this is a good choice of Hotel that will allow us easy access to sight seeing in Amsterdam and then getting the transportation to the airport for our return home to Phoenix Arizona? We depart 2 pm on June 12th.

We are both in our mid 70's and this is our 1st and last time to Amsterdam and we want to see as much as possible.

Beings we have 3 days can you give us things to do for each day that will allow us to see as much as possible using public transportation?

Your advice has helped so many it seems I hope you can share with us some suggestions on what to do and not do.

    JoAnn jmccurdy1@cox.net

  11. Sinppu,

My husband and I will be in Helsinki on May 30,2015. We arrive on the Celebrity Silhouette at 10 am and depart at 5 pm. My husband and I are in our mid 70's and in good healthy but prefer doing some walking and some driving type tours and you suggest a tour or taxi type tour that is approximately 5 hours long and what we should include in our tour. This is our first and last trip to Helsinki and we certainly want to see as much as possible. So rather then trying to find things on our own we prefer a small tour--any suggestions would be appreciated

We will also be in Tallinn, Estonia on June 2nd,2015 from 8 am till 5 pm and again would appreciate suggestions on tours with pick up and drop off at the ship that are dependable and reasonable in price. Are there private taxi's that do such tours or tour groups. One's that combine walking and driving.

We don't want tours that do just drive by's to sights we would like to get out and spend time seeing.

    Thanks

    JoAnn

After checking into cruise ship at 11 am we woul like

to do the boat to Stockholm Vaxholm ( using same boat vendor) and taking bus

bus back from Vaxholm to Stockholm. Can I get a boat at 3 pm

Do you have any idea what time this boat trip starts and how I get from cruise ship

Does this sound reasonable as far as location to our Cental Hotel at Vasagatan 38, 11120

    Stockholm

Will our 3 day ticket cover the boat canal tour and trip to Vaxholm and back to

    Stockholm?

I know I need to buy the VASA museum tickets when we arrive

I can purchase by March or April the 3 day ticket, correct?

I need to make reservations for

The canal tour right when times are posted

The boat trip to Vaxholm when times are posted

Oh gosh I feel like I am such a pain asking you all these questions but really apppreciate your help so we can make the most of our time in Stockholm.

    Thanks

  13. Hi It's Me Again!

I really appreciate all your help and input!!! Thank you so much.

Prior to arrival should I purchase online the bus ticket for 3 days-if so who from?

Prior to arrival purchase tickets to Vasa and Norkiska Museums

Anything else I should purchase prior to arrival?

Is this worthwhile day trip? Stockholm to Uppsala by Train

What time does is sunrise and sunset by end of May

    What is temperature like?

What type clothes do we need --how jeans and sweatshirts?

May 25th Monday we arrive at 12n and need to stay awake and get internal clock

would you suggest we settle in hotel and spend the afternoon doing the Stockholm Canals or the HoHo tour then finding a place close to our hotel for dinner

May 26th Tuesday be at Vasa at 8:30 then to Gamla Stan or the Royal Palace

    May 27th Wed

    Djurgarden

    Stockholm City Hall

    Millesgarden

    Royal Palace

Is there a day trip that you think would be worthwhile? Arriving in several days before everyone else who is cruising let's us miss the crowds in the most popular places I hope.

Any suggestions for good Swedish Restaurants that are family oriented in food and price?

What am I missing or am I going to be lucky to see all of this from were Central Hotel

address is Vasagatan 38, 11120 Stockholm, Sweden –

  14. Thanks so much for your rapid reply. I am 74 and Stockholm is a place my husband and I have so wanted to see. I am retired nurse and hubby 78 retired also.but we are in good health. An this our 2nd and last trip to Europe--We did Med last year and saw so much.

We have been trying hard to fine a hotel that is in good location for sight seeing for 3 days and staying around $200 per day. I we will be there May 25th till we board ship on 28th and depart 29th so we actually have almost 4 days. I am having hard time finding the right area for hotel stay and they are filling up fast. We do want to store our luggage before check in.

Central Hotel---this is my 1st choice what do you think

    Elite Eden Park Hotel

    Hotel Riddargatan

    Residence Perseus

Scandic Klara sounded good till found bedbugs in reviews

Once I get a hotel then I have few more questions---Thank you thank you!

We don't need AC in May do we? We live in Phoenix Arizona and some what used to heat.
