  1. Thank you so much for posting and including photos of food and scenery.  We are booked on our first Regent cruises-- a back-to-back from Trieste to Barcelona on May 25 and Barcelona to Bilbao on June 6.  I just familiarized myself with Regent's dress code, which states: "Evening attire can be Country Club casual, informal (sport coat and tie recommended), or formal (black tie optional)."  We're trying to travel light.  My husband was not planning on bringing a sport coat and tie.  What do you recommend?

Hopefully when you sail the great majority of staff will be well trained and experienced. We saw no one with an attitude problem.

Call me a cockeyed optimist, but I'm anticipating a great first cruise on Regent.  I'm sure that Regent upper management is following these posts and will do everything possible to ensure that future cruises go more smoothly.🤞🤞🤞

I am on Voyager now for its cruise from Lisbon to Barcelona. It is day 1 . . . a sea day. So far things are looking pretty good. I will start a new thread with my observations from this cruise. Stay tuned. Chris.

I'll be eagerly following your posts, also.  We are on the Voyager on back-to-back in May & June-- Trieste to Barcelona & Barcelona to Bilbao.  I hope you have a wonderful cruise with more good than bad experiences.

Testing passengers? Not unless they HAVE to. If you test positive you get 11 days in a cabin on deck 6...and that's about all they will tell you.

Thanks for the info.  That actually seems reasonable.  We are booked on back to back Voyager cruises beginning May 25 from Trieste (formerly Venice) to Barcelona then Barcelona to Bilbao.  But before Regent, we'll be coming off of a Viking River Cruise.  Viking tests daily and Covid positives are taken off the boat to a quarantine in a hotel at the passenger's expense.  We're thinking of canceling Viking and hopefully our Regent cruises won't be going to Hades.

  5. We are booked on the Canada-New England cruise on The Enchanted Princess October 8th - 15th.  We've always stayed in mini suites on Princess ships, but it will probably be too chilly in October to enjoy a balcony, and we thought the extra room and panoramic view, plus the extra benefits for a full suite would be a good trade-off.

  6. We have a Chase Sapphire Reserve credit, which includes pretty comprehensive travel insurance, as detailed below, when you pay for your trip partially or in full with your credit card.  We have always purchased a separate policy, but I'm considering saving the money and relying solely on this benefit.  I'm interested to know if anyone has any experience, positive or negative, in using this travel insurance.

    Trip cancellation/interruption coverage $10,000
    Trip Delay Reimbursement $500
    Lost Luggage Reimbursement $3,000
Baggage Delay $100 per day for 5 days
    Emergency Evacuation & Transit $100,000
Emergency Medical and Dental Benefit $2,500 ($50 deducible)
$75 per day for 5 days for a hotel if ordered by attending physician
    Travel Accident Insurance $1,000,000
Travel and Emergency Assistance access to a dedicated phone line 24/7.

This discussion leads us back to the classic analysis that someone inserts from time to time. Today I guess I'm the one inserting it

To figure out if Regent (or any other cruise) is worth the price, particularly as compared to other cruise options, one must look at (1) price; (2) value to you; (3) quasi-tangibles, and (4)  intangibles.

WishinIweretravelling, thank you for this great information.  Hubby and I are in the process of booking a Regent back-to-back on the Voyager:  Venice to Barcelona (May 25 to June 6) and Barcelona to Bilbao (June 6 to June 16th).  With the exception of the value for alcoholic drinks-- we may have a glass of wine at dinner-- I think Regent will be a perfect fit for us.  We are planning on being in the entry level Guaranteed Deluxe Veranda H category, and hope that our excursion choices will still be available when it is our turn.

  8. While on a Princess Norwegian Fjords cruise in July, 2017, we were in Bergen and did a Segway tour. The guide took our group on a tour of the city, through the fish market and along lots of back roads.  The highlight was traveling up a steep hill -- almost as high as the furnicular -- where we enjoyed a breathtaking view.  It was the most fun ever!

Hello all from on-board Viking Sky. We boarded yesterday (Monday) and sail away at 6pm today for stops along the coast of Norway and then off to Iceland.

We will also be on the Aug. 13th sailing for this cruise and it will be so helpful to have your first-hand account.  Please include comments about any excursions -- through the ship or outside vendor -- you take. I eagerly await your next posts.

Sorry, I think my thought got posted prematurely.  As I was saying, we almost canceled our upcoming cruise from Reykjavik to Bergen because of the difficulty in finding reasonable flights out of Bergen to get back home to Orlando.  But then my husband suggested connecting in London.  I booked a shuttle on Norwegian Air, leaving Bergen at 9:15 AM and arriving in London Gatwick at 10:30 pm.  We will spend the night near Gatwick and fly home the next day on a non-stop flight on Virgin Atlantic, using our Delta frequent flyer miles.

Correcting my typo:  The flight arrives in London Gatwick at 10:15 am-- It's a 2 hour flight, loses an hour.

  12. Touristbay, is there anything worthwhile to do in Greenock? The cruise terminal has a great website and it sounds like there are staff to greet us and recommend excursions, but I've heard that the only thing to do in Greenock is to leave.

  13. I will take notes and report back early June. :D

We have private tours with others on our roll call in most ports. Our cruise includes the Tattoo in Edinburgh, but it's from the Glasgow port. We're doing that one through Princess. My husband is golfing in Glasgow/Greenock and at St. Andrews while in Edinburgh. From which port are you going to Liverpool?

  14. Very exciting !!

We are on the May 23 British Isle Cruise.

Best advice.... Get to know your fellow cruisers on Roll Call and link up with them on private tours. Princess charges ridiculous prices. Also, we purchased most of our tickets,ie, castles, HOHO buses, Beatles Experience, Titanic Experience on line. Didn't want to waste time standing in line. Also eliminates a lot of foreign currency to bring.

This cruise has been on my bucket list for years, and my husband is treating me for my 65th birthday ! I am so excited and I know you are too !! :D

My hubby and I are on the August 15th British Isles Cruise. I hope after yours' you'll post a review.
