They do NOT do the first for you... they ONLY book a time slot and you still have to pick a place when you get on board.  I just spent over an hour with RCL trying to get an answer on why I can see a UDP booking for Day 1 (August 5th sailing) of a time BUT no place?  They confirmed that only the slot is reserved and you still have to pick a place when u get on board.

Damn, it was so much easier when u could prebook everything before the cruise... Shows too!

In my Cruise planner it shows me booked for Chops, 8 pm, 1st night.

Is there somewhere we can see when drink packages are discounted before we book the cruise?

We have found a Royal Caribbean cruise we really like but the cost of the drink package is holding us back.

Book it - you can cancel the drink package and rebuy it as you see better prices. Our October 30 on Harmony shows $69.99 and I'll pay that, but it will be lower. You just have to watch

  3. It is in Cocoa Beach, not CC—about 4 miles south, 2 blocks off the beach near Ron Jon’s. Cape Canaveral has a Country Inn & Suites, Radisson (older but great pool with grotto and pool, pool bar), Residence Inn, and new Homewood Suites. I work in CC and happy to give you info about restaurants and things to do.

  4. I work right there. If you are Hilton Honors, there’s a new Homewood Suites, for Marriott, a Residence Inn. Then there’s a Country Inn & Suites, and the Radisson. All are within a mile or so of the Port Canaveral cruise terminals in Cape Canaveral. There is also great casual waterfront dining with fresh seafood in the Port—Grills’s, Fish Lips, Rising Tide, Seafood Atlantic.

  5. The Appleton Rum Factory is at least a 2 hour drive (each way) from any of the major ports in Jamaica (Mo Bay, Ocho Rios, or Falmouth). We have gone there twice and it is a very nice tour (land based vacations, not cruises). Nice tour, unlimited free tastings.

There is The Hamden Rum Company which is fairly close to Falmouth. We haven't gone there yet.

Local food - hard to go wrong with Scotchie's, Pork Pit, or Miss T's Kitchen.

I was just looking at it--it's spelled Hamden Distillery.

How far from the Port are the eateries you recommend?

  6. I noticed this week they are not open--yesterday was my latest trip past there. There is a sign on the door but haven't driven in to read it. Could bd vacation but doubt it--I read yesterday that July is our second biggest tourist month. They seemed to have lost momentum when they moved. They weren't a local dive anymore. But seriously, people come to Florida in July--on purpose?!

  7. I live near Cocoa Beach--my company frequently uses Residence Inn, Radisson, Country Inn and Suites and International Palms. The first three are not waterfront--but Intl Palms is a huge resort with a lot of differently configured rooms. It is in Cocoa Beach proper but only a couple miles south. It is an old Holiday Inn Complex and somewhat dated but clean and friendly. They have a great outside bar on the ocean and great pool/playground.
