we were on this one! LOVE MATT! also miss the glass elevators and the soaring atriums, this was our second Vista cruise because we loved the itinerary and Matt SO MUCH. I was a little disappointed with some of the service, but I can't wait to read your review!

Loving your review! May need those patches.

I am loving your review. We are sailing 6/2 on the vista, and we are also from GA. Will wave to you when Vista comes in on 6/2.

Are the pools open at boarding in Miami? My 6 year old is chomping at the bit to swim as soon as we get on the ship. I am trying to plan what he should wear so that he doesn't end up on the ship with pools open or opening soon without swim trunks.
Thanks in advance.

I kind of wondered too. We've talked a handful of families into all cruising as a group later this year. Some have not sailed before and are alarmed. I've tried to explain there has to be some extraordinary circumstance, a fall like this is NOT the norm.
but kudos to the posters who knew a troll when they saw one... And I agree with the listed "potential causes" - it's heartbreaking and BIZARRE.

we did it on our last cruise and it was totally worth it for us. I hit 15 the first night, mostly just to see if it was doable. I think the rest of the trip I didn't go over 12. But if you have approx. 6 drinks a day doing the math.... you are coming out ahead. I think Carnival offers it because not everyone drinks as much as my group. So they do make money on a some people who just drink about 6/day, but then you have people like us and our friends who almost max out daily. the program is popular enough that they keep making money, but also convenient enough that a bunch of people enjoy it.

we sail on Sunday. I'll see what I can get.

we sail on Sunday! So glad to hear this.

Great review so far.
And I agree, Matt is the best CD I have ever sailed with - many are not that memorable, but he certainly is. As most women would agree, hard to mention him without remarking on those gorgeous green eyes :halo:!
I completely agree! Matt was the best. My hubs, myself, my 5 year old son all really enjoyed every interaction with him. Even my one year old daughter would light up and giggle when he'd talk to her.

I am not sure, I want to say we paid about $12.50 for each adult for the thrill theater. There is also some food options you can pay for - Bonsai Sushi, Seafood Shack, usually under $20 each, but some tasty options totally worth it. We spent a little $ in the cherry on Top candy store, and we also bought a coffee card at the Java Blue coffee shop, so we could get a latte or something every day. We paid extra for the Dr. Seuss breakfast, it was a little pricey for my opinion, but we would probably do it again anyway. Obviously the add ons are optional, you don't have to do them. We also ate at the steakhouse the first night as we were celebrating, and enjoyed our free bottle of wine (you get that if you go on the first night of the cruise).

I enjoyed your review. I have a question. we aren't in a Havana, because we are bringing our small kids. But I am wondering. I have been on cruises where the pools were not open until after boarding and closer to sailaway. But my five year old would be struggling if he wasn't able to swim the second he got on.
Do you remember if they were open when you boarded? If so, I'll just put him in swim trunks that AM before we head to the port.

Anyone know if you can purchase the use of the spa amenities for the duration of the cruise?

We have been a couple times and gone to Bayahibe Beach. WE really have loved it there. We don't do the day resort thru carnival, but we take a taxi to the public beach there and rent chairs.
