  1. Looking to book a cruise in Dec. with Aruba being one of the stops. Is there anything we should take into consideration before we book as far as covid requirements go? Not necessarily mask wearing, but more of testing requirements for cruise passenger visitors? We've both been vaccinated, but just trying to pick the best cruise itinerary during all the covid restrictions. Thanks for any replies.

  2. It's me again, lol. We are planning to get to New Orleans on Friday now instead of Saturday. I found a 4 1/2 star french quarter/bourbon street using 2 adults and 2 children. Any idea what i'll probably end up with? The rate seems great at $104/nt.

Also, I've already booked the fulton st. garage, has been able to edit their length of parking once booked and paid for? Or can I show up a day early and pay for an extra day?

    Thanks, Scott

  3. Hotwire automatically books 2 bed rooms if available...priceline books 1 bed rooms. I call ahead to make sure I've got what I need. Some hotels will work with you others won't. I've never had a problem at Riverside. I would say the only thing you'd have to worry about is if they don't have any 2 bed rooms available that night. If you don't want to chance it here are the other options I recognize on hotwire that night using 2 adult, 2 child: Hyatt Regency $114, Intercontinental $108, Le Pavillion $99, Astor Crowne Plaza $115, Omni Riverfront $137

So do you think calling Hilton Riverside before I book would be helpful? Once I book, there's no cancellation/refund is there? Will it tell me once I book what type of room I got? Sorry for all the questions.

    Scott

  4. Riverside is $118 on hotwire for 8/15. It's 4* French quarter/Mississippi river with 90% recommendation marked down from $308 with "weekend deal".

I think I see the mix up. Im trying to book a room for 4 people. (Me, Wife, and 2 daughters. When I enter 2 adults, 0 children I see the deal you're talking about. Do you think I would get a double bed room by booking it with only 2 adults?

    Thanks, Scott

  5. The best deal I could find at the Monteleone is $229/night. Priceline had it for $158/night but it wasn't a double bed. I started looking at our 2nd choice which is the Hilton Riverside but can't find it below $217/night. I wish I could find that one for what everyone else has been getting it for. We are staying Aug. 15th for one night precruise.

  6. Hey guys, my wife is wanting to stay at either the hotel Monteleone or the Roosevelt. Does anyone know if hotwire is currently offering either of these?

  7. We are staying at the Comfort Inn. At first glance, it sounds expensive. A little over $200.00. But-- It includes breakfast, pick-up at the airport- hotel to pier and pier back to airport. Considering the cost each way from the airport, I think this is a good, worry-free deal.

Is this Comfort Inn in Orlando or Cocoa Beach? Do you have the address?

    Thanks

  8. Tool ~ the nice thing is your late arrival. You are docking at Havensight (the much better docking area in my opinion and much closer to Red Hook to catch the ferry to St. John). Oasis of the Seas is in port with you (at Crown Bay) and that's a lot of people. But they arrive early (9:00 AM) so by the time you are arriving at Trunk Bay, they will be heading back to their ship.

If it were me, I'd be heading to Trunk as soon as you dock! You won't have much of a wait anywhere for taxis at that time of day. If you are off your ship at 11:00, you will easily make the noon ferry, be in Cruz Bay by 12:20 and could be at Trunk Bay by 12:45. The 4:00 PM ferry return will give you plenty of time to get back and have a little time left for shopping at Havensight.

By the way, for future reference you can google St. Thomas Cruise Ship Schedule and find where your ship is docking.

    Have a great cruise!

WOW, that sounds awesome. We will definately be heading to Trunk Bay.

We will be in St. Maarten the next day (18th). Do you know what ships will be in port that day?

    Thanks, Scott

  9. You want the 11229 or 11235...these are under cabins on Deck 12.

You do not want any 11230 or 11236 as they are under the gym. We've been in 11234 and 11236 it can be very noisy early in the AM. We switched last May and were in 11209 and 11225...quiet.

Let me add that views in ports depend on which itinerary you are taking. On the Eastern, you will have nicer vistas of the harbors in St Maarten and St Thomas on the port (even) side as the starboard side has you looking at the pier areas. In Nassau you're most likely to see another ship. On the Western cruise, port gives you views of the piers going north in Cozumel, Mahogany Bay complex in Roatan, and if they stern to in Costa Maya you'll see the old resort (Cha Chi?) and pier area. On the starboard side on Western you'll see the beaches to the south in Cozumel, a beautiful view of the hills in Roatan, and most likely water in Costa Maya. Of course in Belize, you'll see water and an occassional glimpse of the port area on either side, depending on the ship's swing.

Thanks, i suppose we'll be booking 11229 or 11235. Now, i'm not too ship savy, so is this port side or starboard side?

    Thanks, Scott
