  1. We are booked in an interior state room Riviera deck Carnival Liberty - 1459. Towards the very end. Outside of the long walks to the elevators are there any other problems that I should be aware of

    Thanks

Lets see... Forward, you will hear the waves hitting the front of the ship, especially at night. Near the Back you will feel vibrations from the propellers.

I have been on this deck and had friends at both ends of the ship and they said they got used to the noise. If the seas are calm you may hear nothing at all...

    Happy sailing!!!

  2. One thing I am noticing is that its really not about the cruise line here, its more about the cruise director and perhaps where the majority of the passengers are from... Both are demographics that would be kinda hard to determine before boarding a ship perhaps...

  3. treadmills and weights-- cant you go down one deck?

Actually cabin 1005 is right under where the photographer is standing - That spot should be quiet.

I think we will book it. I like the location... That is, if we don't go with a JS... We are waiting for the prices to be posted in the next day or two...

Thanks for all the help - I couldn't find a photo anywhere...

  4. depends on what area of that front- gym opens very early. those ones across the front are located right under the treadmills. And you might hear people running--depending on how hard they are running.

The cabins toward the left are under the weights-- and people DO drop the weights from time to time.

Do you recall what is on the right side? That is the area we would be under if we booked 1005...

    Thanks for the input!!!

  5. I have been told Holland America Line is the MOST gay friendly. It makes sense since they are a Netherlands brand ship.

When we went a good percent of the crew was 'family'. It was really nice not to feel out of place...

It was probably the most enjoyable cruise we ever did. It was aboard the Maasdam.

  6. Thanks everybody going this Saturday but I sure appreciate your kindness in including me in February. Hope you have a great cruise and I will report back on my mine in a couple of weeks.

I have noticed that Carnival tends to be the 'red-neck' line, mainly because it is the cheapest and the (lol) trailer trash can afford it... They always tend to be the haters. So your best bet is to find a "Friends of Dorothy" group on the sailing and stick around like minds.

If not - Holland America would definitely be the way to go. Most of the crew officers are from the Netherlands and are very GLBT friendly from my experience.

Carnival is fine if you aren't going with expectations of having a gay-ole-time. We have enjoyed our sailings on Carnival, but Ray and I are both very low-key people. It really depends on your tastes I guess. We love HAL, but don't like we have to travel to NY or FL to cruise so we stick with whats more local to VA...
