You may not even have to miss the lobster roll at One Pool Grill. They often will have the lThobster roll available there. I would ask upstairs in the morning at breakfast if they will have lobster rolls at the grill for lunch.

Thanks so much.  I love lobster roll and will definitely take your advice.  As much as I love it, I do prefer the "Connecticut lobster roll" which is poached in butter and served on a toasted, buttered hot dog roll.  The other is lobster salad really, but I still love it.  Thanks again.

  2. We just received our much anticipated email from Princess.  Our medallions have shipped.  We're in Florida.  I'm thinking perhaps the package will arrive about Wednesday.  Fingers crossed.  Our cruise is December 18 on Enchanted.

  3. Ah!  When I go into the web version on my laptop both my future cruises show.  I click on manage my cruise and the correct Dec 18 summary shows, but when I try to open the personalizer the Jan 4, 2025 only shows.  I've tried with my login and with logging in with the voucher number.  Same thing.  I've resigned myself to the fact that there is nothing we can do about the IT department of any cruise line.  I have more important things to stress over.  This will be a ten day relaxing cruise and nothing, I mean nothing, will get in the way of our enjoyment.  Everything will work out as it should.  I thank you for your suggestions.  I truly admire everyone on the forum because there is always someone willing to help.

  4. Thanks, everyone.  I tried using the "chat" three times.  Really a joke in my opinion.  After waiting my turn, I put in my problem.  Waited and waited.  No reply other than "thank you, Jennie, for waiting.  LOL!!  So, I texted my travel agent.  Within a few minutes it was done and charged to my AMEX.  Problem remains that I cannot see it anywhere, but I will print out my AMEX charge and cross my fingers.  Enchanted Princess, here we come!

    Best regards,

    Jennie (Port St Lucie, FL)

  5. Good morning:  yesterday we got the email that our bid was accepted to move from a balcony to a mini suite. We had put in two different bids for two different types of rooms.  The higher category is what was accepted.  It's a ten-day cruise and the accepted bid was for $150 pp for the entire cruise.  The cruise is 62 days away, so I was surprised to hear this early.  This was our first experience on bidding.  The room originally booked was for a guarantee balcony room.  Hope this helps.

The "Thermal Suite 10 Day Cruise Pass" will give you access to the Enclave (including the hydro therapy pool).  The Royal Class ships have the therapy pool, but the Grand Class (older) ships do not. We have had the pass on the Regal and the Discovery and used the Enclave every day.  The pool helped to relax sore legs and backs after some long excursion days. The 7 day pass on the Discovery was $149, and the 12 day pass on the Regal was $299.  The 10 day pass on the Enchanted is $196.

  7. Please clarify for me.  New to Princess, but seasoned cruisers.  We're taking the ten day Christmas cruise on Enchanted.  We want to book the Enclave for the therapy pool.  I'm not sure what it's called and don't want to book something else in error.  I see a package that is $198 pp for the entire cruise, but it doesn't' mention the pool, only the therapy rooms.  I would really appreciate any assistance.  We're both in our 80s and due to mobility problems stay on the ship.  This would be a great addition to our cruise.

    Many thanks,

    Jennie

You should also be aware that a portion of the SD cover charge ($35/$39) is for a gratuity.  So, you have provided extra tip that way.  If you feel the service warrants more, then by all means feel free to add some cash.  But there is no expectation to do so.  The same applies to charges at casual dining.

Wow, didn't know that either. After not sailing for five years it looks like I needed a refresher course.  We always pay auto gratuities before boarding and then extra as appropriate. So many changes have taken place that it boggles the mind.  Your kindness and patience have clarified this 84-year-old mind. We will leave our wallets in the safe and just use the new, modern way of charging to our room and so much more with medallion.  Happy sailing to all.

I don't understand your distinction. Assuming you leave the standard Crew Appreciation, that is shared by all of the serving staff, including Alfredo's, specialty restaurants, and MDR. If you want to tip extra for exceptional service, that's up to you - but it is tipping extra. Personally, I would be much more likely to tip an MDR waiter who served me for the entire cruise than a specialty restaurant waiter who served me only once.

There does not have to be a bill for you to sign. You don't sign a bill every time you buy a drink. They charge it to you and it shows on your onboard folio.

Thanks.  I haven't been on a medallion cruise and we don't drink, so no bar experience, so I thought you sign something.  We do tip waiters if we have the same one.  We do tip extra to the room attendant and specialty venues.  It's clear now.  Just didn't want to not do the correct thing.  Thanks again.

    • Thank you, everyone, for your replies.  Of course we don't tip in the MDR.  There is no charge there.  Specialty restaurants, yes we do.  No, we didn't tip before in Alfredo's because it was included like the MDR.  This is entirely different.  We never ate a la carte.  There has to be a bill to sign for the $8.50. I'm sorry for being so dense.  Thanks again.

  10. I got any email from Princess early this morning informing me that our Sky Princess cruise March, 2022 was cancelled because of deployment issues.

I was shocked, thinking we were safe with a cruise so far out.  They gave no offers for rebooking anything,

    Just an FYI for y'all.

    Happy dreaming,

    Jennie

  11. Dear Jennie,

You truly have my sympathy. I would not have allowed my parents to have to experience your tale.

We sail on Cunard out of Brooklyn and find it a true pleasure even though some do find fault but not like those experienced in Manhattan. We have never had a problem in our six years of sailing out of Brooklyn.

I know Princess sails out of Brooklyn but have not experienced that line.

We had in the past had to use the terminal in Manhattan before it was restored and found it a lot of work to take a cruise and also returning from one. I know of your experiences even as far back to those days in the 80's and 90's. Yes as far back to then. The rushing, disorganization, yelling and struggle one experience coming off a relaxing cruise..

Best Wishes on your Future Cruise Planning may be out of Brooklyn....

BKLYNBOY8, thank you so much for your kind words. Living in Connecticut we thought it would be perfect cruising out of NY because we could avoid the chaos at airport terminals and fatigue of flying. This turned out to be much worse. We will be looking into other options and will avoid Manhattan like the plague. We've already cancelled one of the cruises. Our two cruises on Princess out of Brooklyn were a pleasure and seamless.

Thank you for your warm and caring words.

  12. We disembarked from Oceania Insignia a few days ago, the same time as one of the very large Carnival ships. The terminal was a madhouse and the agents working there were rude and refused to even tell us where the Oceania luggage was. Once outside the terminal with our luggage. we were told that we couldn't stay in that area, but had to cross 12th Avenue to the corner. We are in our 80s and have difficulty walking with a cane, let alone with luggage. We explained that we simply couldn't drag our luggage across six lanes of traffic and then stand on the corner with hundreds of others with their luggage. Because our driver was stuck in traffic, we waited about an hour, being repeatedly screamed at for being there.

This was our first time in over 30 cruises that we arrived in NYC. We have two more cruises booked for next year and I'm seeking an alternative way so as to avoid what we experienced. If we took a shuttle tour or something of that nature where would we get picked up?

I am hoping some of you more experienced folks will chime in and give me some ideas. My husband wants to "pull the plug" on any cruise arriving in New York. We've done NJ and Brooklyn with no problems.

With many thanks for any advice,

    Jennie

  13. First of all, don't worry about the haters. You had a question and the answer is that $20 is not going to get you an upgrade. First, most ships sail full. They will do everything in their power to fill a ship vs leaving a berth empty.

If you want to upgrade your cabin you can see what the current availability is. If you booked through a Travel Agent (TA) you could see if it is possible to change your cabin for the difference in price, but that is doubtful (as everyone would do that in the case last minute price reductions.) If you are past final payment there is likely a huge "cancel and rebook" penalty.

In short, $20 isn't going to do it. $20 can get your assigned table changed in the Main Dining Room, but not a cabin.

We were offered an "upgrade" when we checked in at the pier when sailing on Celebrity Zenith (yes, a long time ago). They offered us a "suite" for $3000 more PER PERSON!. We declined. Our stateroom happened to be two doors down from that suite. It stayed empty all week. We have cruised more than 30 times and each and every time ask for an upgrade or upsell and each time have been told that the ship is fully booked. We book the cabin and location we want, so if we aren't upgraded we are happy where we are.

Have a wonderful cruise and go with the flow.

  14. Have you tried Salonpas cream or patches? It’s lidocaine, over the counter. I use it for my shoulders & neck. I have RA and it takes the edge off the pain when it’s really painful. 70ec61588082c3dfa2143d5f6307bdea.jpg

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Okay, I did respond with quote this morning, but it never showed up.

Thank you so much for the suggestion of Salonpas. I ordered the cream and the roll-on. Even if it helps just a little, it will help my honey get through the day. In fact, I have an autoimmune connective tissue problem with pain in many areas, so I think it just might be helpful for me, as well.

Thanks again for your response and the suggestion.

    Best regards,

    Jennie

  15. There is a photo in the article of what is being sold. Perhaps if it is one of those brands like Real Scientific or labeled Hemp Oil it would not be questioned. The idea of getting it there is a good one but I think the pharmacy is in Hamilton and the price is likely to be higher than purchased in the US.

Thank you, everyone, for your replies. This is made by CBDClinics. It looks and smells like Vaseline and we bought it at the doctor's office. We've decided it's not worth the stress, so it's staying home. The cruise will allow adequate rest and his pain might not be as bad. The ship is small and there won't be much walking at all. This is very new to us (just started about three weeks ago) and we were skeptical, but amazed at how well it works.

We've been on more than 30 cruises, but this is our first on Oceania. It appears that it will be just the right "fit" for us. We are looking forward to meeting the nice folks that seem to be Oceania regulars.

    Thanks again

    Jennie

  16. Please excise my obvious ignorance on the subject. My husband was recently given a jar of CBD to rub on his leg for pain, being told it is not and nothing like e marijuana with no psychotropic properties. We don't smoke or drink alcohol, so it's important to us. It is really helpful in relieving the pain, but we are afraid to take it with us on our cruise leaving in about 2 weeks. We will be in St. George overnight. At our age, we certainly do not want to be detained by authorities.

Thank you for any help. I've tried to research this, but to no avail.

    Jennie
