  1. We had this exact dilemma a few years ago. In the end we elected to drop our luggage with the porters and then caught a taxi to the local shopping mall (Americas I think). We returned to checkin at about 4pm. No queues and bonus, cabins were ready with luggage waiting outside.

Are Celebrity going ahead with UK guests on Apex despite FCDO advising against international cruises and the inability to get valid travel insurance. Wondering if we are likely to receive a cancellation as we have a Celebrity fly cruise package at the end of August.

Been there done that and felt your pain. Had a sunset veranda booked on equinox for August. Had to move booking to October next year. Sort of took the decision to jump before we got pushed. Had a long drawn out discussion with celebrity about being prevented from entering usa. Celebrity view was not there problem and we could take a fcc less port fees that would be refunded. I opted to move the booking next year.

    Here's hoping everyone stays safe

  3. I had acupuncture on a cruise in 2009 to stop smoking. I was a 40 a day smoker. They recommended 4 sessions at approx 90usd a session. I had the first session and it was like turning off a tap. I stopped smoking there and then and never touched a cigarette since. I had the remaining three sessions to reinforce whatever it did to help me stop. Best thing i ever did and with the money saved from not buying any more ciggies booked and paid for another cruise the following year.

  5. There is of course a parking lot at the pier....not sure of the parking terms...but I would assume you could.

No, absolutely no luggage drop off at SJU for RCI...also there is no luggage valet program upon disembarkment.

    Hi

    Thanks for the info.

I only need to drop the luggage so a short stay will be fine.

  7. That's a no-brainer!!!!

Check out the list of extras you get with YC!

I got the same email although mine said $50 per person per night. It took me about 30 seconds to make a decision then another 5 minutes trying to get through to my TA. The longest 5 minutes of my life.

Anyway to cut a long story short I got a TBD booking on a GUARANTEE YC1. The following day I checked my booking on MSC and it showed 15012 allocated. Even bigger result was all the bonuses from previous booking, OBC, Speciality Dinners and Beverage Packages were still there. Though I suspect the latter one is a little redundant now.

So looking forward to getting on board. Even more so as we are getting a little cheeky cruise in on NCL Sky beforehand. I know it will be no comparison, I just hope NCL Sky won't spoil me.;););)

  8. Hi All

We've been on Davina before and it was so bad we felt we had to repeat the experience again this year.

Go to say the food was so bad we both put on weight during the cruise.

The entertainment was brilliant, the staff were welcoming and the whole experience was worth every minute we spent on her.

Go prepared to have a fantastic time and you will

  9. thanks a lot for the great review. could you comment on the ports and on what excursions (msc or diy) you did?

    Hi Plucasana

    Let me see.....

Grand Cayman ... we just grabbed a shared Taxi (5USD each)to Calico Jacks and hung out at the beach for a few hours. The beach is fantastic, free wifi. The drinks can be a bit on the expensive side. Cayman Brew Bottled beer 6usd each and to be honest it had no flavour.

Falmouth, Jamaica .... Just had a walk round the port area and had a very quiet afternoon on the ship.

Cozumel... We hired a scooter. First they wanted 45 USD plus 15 Insurance. I offered 30 USD total we settled on 40USD. I just love haggling the price. We went out to one of the private beach clubs and just hung out at the beach. Then rode back teh long way round teh island stopping off at various points. Just be aware if you are going to rent a scooter they will show you a nice shiny new one and then try to rent you the old rust bucket. Stand your ground and insist on the new one. Also take photos of any marks or scratches. Saves any misunderstanding when you return.

Grand Stirrup Quay .. Got a very early tender at 0845 and spent a few hours on the second bay as you walk away from the tender area. Great area to snorkel and relax. Went back to ship for lunch and enjoyed a very quiet ship.

  10. Just returned from a 7 day cruise to Jamaica, Cayman Islands and Cozumel. It was fantastic. The food in the MDR was great, every night we managed to eat way more than we should have. The Bars had lots of good entertainment and atmosphere. The shows were amazing, OMG how good were they. We had the Allegrissimo package. It was a challenge to try all the bottled beers but we did our best to get through the card in seven days.

Embarkation ~ We arrived about 2pm and within 30 mins we were on the ship and looking for our cabin. Our luggage arrived about 2 hours later. In my experience that's pretty quick.

The cabin was 12174 an I2 and it was OK for us. Plenty of storage space and nice and quiet. Our cabin attendant was fantastic and kept our room clean and tidy. She always seemed to be available when we needed anything. You have to remember that they have a signal system to ensure that you are not disturbed in your cabin. The signal a small led light just above your cabin door and is activated whenever you put your key card in the slot in your room. You have to put the card in the slot to activate the lights and air con. Air con was adjustable between a narrow range of temps. No probs there it was always the right temp. However the public areas can get a little cold.

Tendering at Grand Cayman and Great Stirrup Cay. ~ No problems, in fact MSC have the best system. You collect a ticket from the Black and White lounge when and only when you are ready to go. Sorry but we were early birds so always seemed to be on the first tender.

MDR Waiters ~ Argoes and Ricki were the best. Funny and efficient all the time.

Would we go on MSC Divina again? In a heartbeat we would. Didn't have any problems and cant believe some of the other reviews. Can only think they were on the same ship but in a different dimension.

  11.

Also, what is tea like on these Italian ships?!

Sorry cant remember exactly but I think a bottle of Peiligrino sparkling water was about 3 euro and yes you could share.

The Italians are renown for lots of good things, making tea is not one of them. I think they use Liptons or Twinnings. Best bet is to do like SWMBO and take your own tea bags.

    Have a great cruise.

  12. We decided to do the Allegrissimo drink package after all which I have pre-booked online. We will just have to drink enough to make it worthwhile.

Now the MSC website is saying that the payment is overdue but can I still pay for it onboard or do I have to pay for it now?

    Hi Jenjess

Sorry cant help with that one. I have had mine booked since day 1 of our booking earlier this year. I do remember seeing somewhere that they don't like changes on the website within 5 days of travel. Might just be worth a call to you local MSC Rep to check they have the booking.

Allegrissimo is definitely worth it if only to take away any anxiety over the final bar bill.

    Hope you enjoy your cruise.

  13. Is it possible to buy drink vouchers onboard or do you have to pre-purchase beforehand?

The drink packages are of no interest to us as we drink very little alcohol so they seem too expensive.

Is there any advantage to booking excursions before boarding?

    Hi Jennjess

You can buy drink vouchers on board, just be aware they will charge an additional 15% Service Charge. Better to pre order through the website and the charge minus the 15% gets added to your onboard account and you pay at the end of your cruise.

There are no advantages to booking excursions before boarding other than places are limited and popular excursion sell out fast.

    Have a great cruise.

  14. Sue, Don't be nervous, I have booked plenty of guarantees and, often, did not receive a room assignment until I arrived at the pier. Think about it like a hotel, you take whatever room they assign you, there, right? If you don't like the room you get, book an actual cabin next time. Have fun! Is this your first cruise? :)

Sorry to throw another worry in the mix but.... if you don't know your cabin assignment until you check in at the pier how do the porters or the crew know which deck or cabin number to send your luggage to?
