  1. Hello,

My wife and I are on the Azamara Journey leaving Southampton on Aug 27 and arriving at St-Malo next morning. The ship excursion we want to Mont St Michel  is closed to online sales and I think it will be too rushed to get something once we board. I don't know how many seats will be remaining for those to purchase once on board.

Has anyone been to St-Malo and can advise whether there are any local operators at the dock who have day trips to Mont St-Michel?  Thanks in advance.

    David

  2. Hello to all,

We are 3 star Mariners that have sailed on 8 different HAL ships but never on the Prinsendam. With it being sold and leaving the fleet next summer, we are wondering whether it is worth sailing on her. What are your experiences with the ship? Menu, service etc and what is special compared to the other ships that we already love. We know that it is a very small ship (compared to the others) that sails special itineraries and visits small ports for longer periods, but we are only looking at the Caribbean itineraries (ports we have been to).

    Thank you for your advice.

  3. Hello everyone,

I am looking for advice about disembarking one day early on a NCL transatlantic next April, specifically the Breakway 12 day leaving NYC on April 27, 2019 for 12 days ending in Southampton.

On the 11th day, the ship stops in Le Havre, France and we would like to disembark as we are going to spend time in that northwest region of France. That would allow us to avoid the cruise portion on the last evening (May 8) from Le Havre to disembark in Southampton morning of May 9th, and not have to travel back over the Channel to France. We would pay for the entire 12 day voyage but just want to miss the last 12 hours of the cruise and disembark early.

I called NCL and the representative told me I cannot disembark early as the ship may not stop there. While I understand any cruiseline can cancel any stop for whatever reason, we would be prepared to continue to Southampton if it does not stop in Le Havre. I was recently on the Royal Princess on a British Isles cruise and know they allow it as I spoke to some passengers who were headed to Paris from Le Havre - but I know this is another cruise line and they all do things differently.

We would appreciate any advice on just walking off that last day in Le Havre and not telling them, since they won't "officially" let us disembark.

    Thank you.

  4. My wife and I are interested in circumnavigating the world but not wanting to spend 100+ days on the same ship (and not having the money, to be honest). We are interested in doing a number of cruises on different lines, combined with a few flights, ideally with a transpacific and a transatlantic cruise segments to avoid those really long transoceanic flights, but keeping the entire voyage to about 50-60 days.

Anyone have any ideas and have plans that they wouldn't mind sharing? Therefore, this is perhaps a good opportunity to start a new thread, or can someone direct me to an existing board as the one on special interest cruising/world cruises is not really applicable.

Departure would be from and back to North America.

    Thank you.

  5. Just got off the Star Princess yesterday. In addition to the auto-tip of $12.95 per day per person, we also tipped extra to our waiter and asst waiter for Anytime Dining since we managed to get both of them looking after us all week. We also give an extra tip to our cabin steward.

When we gave our envelopes to the MDR staff on our last night, we were asked for our cabin number as other wait staff from other tables looked on. Our cabin number was then written on the envelopes. Was there a reason for this? I mentioned to our wait staff that we did not reduce or remove any of the auto-gratuity and that this was extra for them for doing a great job. I think I have read elsewhere that they are supposed to declare these extra tips and only get to keep them if the customer has not reduced or removed the auto-tip. Is this information right? Anyone else have knowledge and would care to comment?

    Thank you.

  6. If the upgrade rate is at a new rate code for new bookings only , then Cunard may insist that you cancel and re book .

However no need to change your air schedule?

Call back during the week . Sometimes weekend reps are not the most

knowledgable and supv's may not be around .

Here is where a good Cruise Specialist TA would have come in handy.

Thank you. I have a better understanding of this now.

I do have a cruise specialist TA but he was not familiar with this. This becomes a new booking in order to get the lower rate and no penalty from Cunard but the air has to be be cancelled and rebooked, even though they are the same flights, and the extra fee goes to the airline.

  7. Hello everyone:

I have run into an obstacle I am hoping someone can help. I called Cunard to pay for an upgrade to a balcony on a coming sailing. They will allow me to pay the difference between what I paid and what my new cabin price is but they insist that I cancel the entire booking and also the air booking, incurring an extra $265 fee for rebooking the air, which I want to leave alone. Anyone run into this before and can advise me on the process? Thank you.

  8. Hello to all:

We will be on the QM2 in Sydney when it overnights there on Thursday March 10. We are planning to buy tickets for a concert with 7:30 pm start time at the Sydney Opera House but are currently on the 6 pm first seating, so will likely have to skip the MDR. Anyone know the time that dinner in Kings Court buffet starts? We would like to be off the ship by 6:30 pm.

    Thanks in advance.

  9. Hello everyone:

I asked to be placed on the waitlist for the QV segment from LA to Sydney on Feb 5, 2016. I was told by the Cunard agent that I was #265 on the waitlist but that this number was for all waitlist stateroom categories and segments, so a bit misleading. I am wondering how l can really find out where I am on the waitlist for my particular segment. If it does not look promising, I will have to think about the flight to Santiago, Chile to get on the QM2 also headed to Sydney. I would much rather have the shorter flight to LAX. Can anyone assist me? Thanks in advance.

  10. Thank you! The Sun Trolley sounds like a good option, as I only need half a day to shop, and then can relax. I haven't read a bad review on the Alhambra yet.

    Hi everyone:

Anyone know if public transportation can be taken to access the Sun Trolley from the airport or from the Ft Lauderdale Tri-Rail Airport station? We are staying at the Fairfield Inn at 2081 Griffin Rd after disembarking and want to spend the day on Las Olas or the Beach without renting a car or spending too much on cabs. I think I can take the Tri-Rail north one station ($3.75 one way) to Ft Lauderdale station but is there a transfer point I can take to access the Sun Trolley? Thanks.
