The quote was from an article in the Times-Picayune on the NOLA.com site - if I knew how to share and post, I would have but I'm woefully inept.

"Cruise ships will still be prohibited and Cantrell called them "a floating virus."
Doesn't look likely that Majesty of the Seas will be departing New Orleans anytime soon - now what do we do?

I'm pissed off - the prices are reduced only for the second person - when you travel solo it's discriminatory - all the other sales are straight price reduced sales except the beverage package.

I was part of the cruise on the Allure with Dawna and have done over 20 cruises myself and she is not exaggerating the poor service we experienced. It was clear that the two servers did not like each other and did not communicate well. In fact, our assistant waitress was rarely seen. The Head Waiter came to our table one time to see how we were enjoying ourselves - we indicated it was great fun, but we'd like a drink - he left to find a server and never saw him again the week! We had a great cruise as we always do, but either the ship is too large, or the staff is too small - either way, I too expressed my concern with the MDR - if they don't want to know, then don't ask!!

My experience with Royston was not favorable. His van was old, rusty, had a wood block for a brake, cracked windshield and took out the windows to get air. Further, he drove his suspect tour van "off road" into fields, barely a path to be found. I thought his knowledge of the island was excellent and we did indeed circle the island and went from top to bottom, however, his driving methods were very daredevilish. When I expressed dismay with his risk taking driving, he further exacerbated the situation by doing even more stunts thinking he was funny, i.e. driving to the unfenced ledge of a cliff. I was so embarrassed and frightened, I thought I was going to be ill. The excursion was to be 4-4-1/2 hours - It ended up being a 7 hour long, uncomfortable experience.
I would not recommend him, his "van" or his risk-taking driving (especially given the shape of his van)!!

Just booked 7003 for my November cruise - the photos were excellent - lots of space for a solo traveller!!!

Just completed my first Diamond Plus cruise - 4 nighter on Majesty. What a treat - A GOLD CARD!! There wasn't too many D/D+ members aboard (shorter cruise I guess) - but we got all the perks, including a Bridge Tour, that fellow CC members have indicated. My BFF was a 3rd timer so we got a GS so she too could enjoy the benefits (mostly space!!).
I can't wait to sail again with DH - he hasn't experienced the D+ privileges as yet and will no doubt enjoy them.
For those who think the perks aren't warranted - wait until you too get them, you'll change your mind. That said, in order to get a "free" drink in the D/D+ lounge, it probably cost well over $60,000 in cruises!!!

I get it after every cruise. It gets compounded by a flight immediately afterward, followed by an hour or two drive home....once it starts, it truly means the cruise is over.
But on the positive side, it also is an indicator that you need to book your next cruise!!

"In case you feel the urge you may buy me an extra dry martini,Bombay Sapphire, please.LOL "
You're on! But I'll take mine with Grey Goose!

"I'm an old bat who drives a scooter" - I'm thinking your probably a fun old bat and only use your scooter to run into people when they pi** you off!!
Good story!

We had a cottage in the Muskokas where DH tried his hand at a small recovery business. We got two calls!!! One for a pair of sunglasses that fell into the lake (he found them!!!) and one for a diamond ring that fell into rocks near the shore (no luck). He made a whopping $100 bucks that year on the business, but wrote off his dive equipment (new dry suit) on his taxes!!! :D

Aquahound - you touched briefly on the scuba thread on the BP oil spill keeping you very busy right now - what role are you playing? (if you can say)

We were the "pole" cabin on Mariner (room 1388). Great size room, small balcony, never heard a peep above us, but twice we had to leave the room the sewer smell was so bad. Our steward said "sometimes it gets that way". The second time it was so bad, we had maintenance come down to see what the problem was. He said everything was fine, but I saw him a few minutes later working on plumbing lines in the crew stairwell. Not sure what it was, but it was ripe! This was an on-going problem throughout the cruise. Anyone else had this problem in this room on any of the voyager class ships?

Excuse me, but can I butt in - I've been scrolling through websites since my golf game booked for today was cancelled thanks to our latest "covid-19 emergency lockdown" here in Ontario....anyway, I was checking for a hotel room for our night before cruise next February and I'm shocked to see the price tag for our usual Holiday Inn is $451 CDN - yikes!
