Hello cruisers

i read the Westerdam came out of dry dock in June 2022. Does anyone know if the rooms and bathrooms were refurbished?  I have searched and can’t locate any information.

Will the dry dock include remodeling the Pinnacle suite?  The PS looks aged with the gold sinks and furniture could use some refreshing. 

Happy thanksgiving everyone... we are thinking of booking either the Veranda suite on Eurodam and we may splurge and opt for the Penthouse. I read the differences online. I was wondering if the penthouse is booked do you get perks at the spa?  Besides the butler, pantry and larger cabin are there other BIG differences that are worth the price?

I read the earliest boarding is 11:30am. When printing your check in documents they assign you a time slot to check in at the port.

i was watching you tube videos and saw the new electronic door entry on the Ovation cabins. Since there is not an actual key slot to put a paper card In it like previous cruises ships have.

How is a passenger able to display a do not disturb sign? Is there something to hang on the door knob?

Can any previous Ovation cruisers confirm how are passengers able to display they don't want to be disturbed. put a do.

I emailed the border patrol dept and ask vey specific questions regarding prescription meds. If the meds your bringing are on the naughty list you MUST have doctors lettter. For meds like allergy meds you can take the chance but they told me I would be best to get a doctors letter if I am to take any prescription drugs. Playing it safe I am just getting the letter.

Thanks for all the responses. My second question is when we render in Auckland how difficult is it to board the tender with a walker? My mother in law is very limited and must walk with a walker. Will this be an issue?

I was on the Ovation with two 8 year old grandchildren and took them to the Character Breakfast - for us it was not a great experience. The two had seen all the characters moving around the ship and already had lots of photos with them- you are allowed to take photos with your own camera/phone rather than having to have the "official" ones. The breakfast did not appeal to two youngsters who had been enjoying the delights of the buffet all week - they had very much enjoyed the novelty of being able to have small helpings of lots of things and the dining room style breakfast did not excite them.

Not something I would suggest doing again,

They absolutely loved Ovation though - such a pity there are no short school holiday trips this summer - we did the five days to Tassie and it was a great experience with so many activities on board.

Glad to hear they still have a breakfast may I ask what was the cost? How many characters were at breakfast?

If anyone has sailed on Ovation can you tell me do they offer character breakfast?

Can anyone confirm if they still print the cruise compass on Ovation?

Excellent if my calculations are right it will be a Sea day and 9am is fine by me. Doesn't matter which two teams are in the Super Bowl we will be there with mamossas in hand

We are sailing on Ovation in Feb 4th next year and that is the same day as the Super Bowl. However since there is a 18 hour time difference does that mean we can see it on Feb 5th on the ship? Also since we are going to be at sea that day will RCCL broadcast the super bowl from Sydney?

I haves sailed during Super Bowls previously but we were near US ports and they televised it. Will it be televised in Sydney?

Fantastic detailed review, the pictures are wonderful. I liked how you posted the daily planner I was under the assumption they were all digital now. Is there an option to get printed copies?

Just wondering if there are unique food items on this sailing that normally would not be offered on US or European cruises. Also does RCCL still serve lobster in the MDR on formal nights on South Pacific cruises?

I hang my clothes on hangers and then cover them with a dry cleaner bag. They don't get wrinkled when they are packed in this manner and it also makes for easy unpacking.

 

I do this also and it really works. Also the ironing service on board is really reasonable and quick. Send out anything that needs needs pressing the first night and you are set.

 

There is plenty of soap, just ask. I take a small bottle of liquid soap in a zip lock for the sink - I don't like slimy bar soap. If there's any left at the end of the week I just toss it.

 

I do the same exact thing... I pack certain outfits in dry cleaner bags and cuts down on the wrinkles. I also pack Downey wrinkle release and it has never stained our clothes and works GREAT. If we are on a 14 day cruise I always pack a small bottle of liquid hand soap and put it in a ziplock bag.

So i am ok taking either take my passport or my US drivers license onshore?

You will only need to show your passports when embarking. First at the RCCL check in desk and then as you go through immigration.

We sail Ovation of the seas 2/4

I booked a car to pick us up to drive us to airport. I did tons of research and found Luxcar to be 5 stars

We did ours online today and was all complete in 10 minutes! We are from Las Vegas as well. I just replied to your thread on the 11:15 flight from Sydney.

Are you sailing on our same cruise?

We are on a 14 day cruise leaving Sydney sailing to New Zealnd then back to Sydney. During this cruise will Royal ask to take our passport on this type of sailing?
