  1. As the voice of Carnival Cruise Lines here at Port Tampa Bay I will add that this is precisely correct. However and sadly Captain Carnival will not be making any boarding announcements tomorrow as my Dad passed away yesterday.

Real sorry to hear that, Cap'n. Will you be back by the 4th?

  2. They do cut people off. Although they don't always check to make sure the person is actually drunk. I have an old sports injury that causes my knee to dislocate (it goes right back in no problem) and I'll stumble. I was on the Splendor last October with a couple of friends and unfortunately, this happened right infront of ship's security. They immediately grabbed me and took me to my cabin, confiscated the free bottle of champagne I'd gotten and the bottle I'd bought (and hardly drank) from Bon Voyage and cut me off for the rest of the cruise. This was day 2 or 3 of an 8 day cruise.

Really sorry that happened to you. I'd have been SUPER upset. It DOES happen, though. I met a lady on our first cruise who'd tripped over the I-don't-know-what-the-nautical-term-for-it-is lip at the bottom of the door to the ladies' room on lido. They'd suspended her drinking privileges for the remainder of the cruise, and she was nowhere near drunk.

  3. Congrats! I haven't seen them in person, but the pics of those rooms are absolutely stunning. We were able to score one of the regular scenic ocean views on the Sunshine for October (6J, I think?) and are super excited. I can't imagine NOT being thrilled with that view.

  4. I did the same thing, and had to call them to get the price drop. Just make sure that your taxes and port fees didn't also increase. I have submitted multiple price drops in the last few months on our two cabins that we have booked early saver.

When I submitted the first ones the taxes and port fees had increased so it was actually just a few dollars less and my price drop was denied. After I called and went thru it with them and pointed out that even though part of it had increased I still had an overall savings, they approved it and I got the new price.

Since then I have had several other reductions and now have over $100 per person in on board credit for the five of us.

    Good luck!

Congrats on your success with the price drops, and thanks for responding. Guess I'll have to pick up the phone and walk them through it

You'd think they'd have a little better system in place for the price protection verifications, given they're pushing the online submission (vs. calling) so hard.

  5. I'm sure this has been asked (many times) before, but hoping someone will be kind enough to answer.

We have an OV cabin booked under early saver. The "Exclusive Past Guest Sale" shows a rate that's $40 higher than the ES rate, but it includes $50 OBC. That sounds like ten bucks to me. Of course, my price protection submission was denied. Anybody have any luck with a situation like this where the OBC results in a technically lower fare?

  6. hmm..... I do have one idea. You could go online and hold one of those cabins. Call back and just tell the rep you put a room on 24 hour hold that you would like to switch to and give them that booking # with the hold. Say nothing about the occupancy restrictions. Don't put any ideas in their heads. See if they do it that way.

Actually, now that you mention it, that's exactly what I did (without even realizing it was a higher occupancy cabin). Give it a shot!

  7. No T-Pool, no Spa staterooms for us. That's a huge reason why we enjoy the spa experience

Yeah, I had a spa cabin on the Dream and absolutely loved it. Was very disappointed when I found out Sunshine didn't have the t-pool. Shame on me for not researching better, but, you live and learn, I suppose. Just got so excited about the itinerary, I booked pretty blindly. Sad thing is, the spa cabins are already up around $80 more than we paid, so guessing if I'd grabbed the 6-J then, it wouldn't have been such a jump in price.

  8. Really appreciate all the feedback, everyone. We're currently booked in 10118, which is super close to all the spa stuff. The gym over the OV cabin part makes me a little nervous, although we're relatively early risers, for the most part. It's a regular scenic OV, not the grand. I also realize that the chances for any price drops with this cabin would be out the (big, giant, beautiful) window.

I'm just afraid if I don't grab it, I'll be kicking myself later.

  9. So, we're booked on the Sunshine in October (4 sea days) in a spa interior cabin. I booked the spa cabin before I realized the Sunshine doesn't have the thelassotherapy pool, so regretting that a little, but what's done is done. I spotted an available scenic ocean view (cabin 9107) last night and put a hold on it.

We really don't mind an interior, and I do like the location of the currently booked cabin, but that scenic view looks pretty tempting. Balconies are priced way out of our range for that sailing.

The difference in fare would be $340 from our current booking, and we'd lose our $50 obc because it was a promotional rate we booked under, so a total negative of $390 (not to mention loss of the spa privileges, but not sure that's as big a deal as it might be on, say, a dream class ship).

    What would you do?

  10. Taking away the match play makes zero sense to me. We're not normally big gamblers, but did earn and use some match play coupons on our most recent cruises. I guarantee we spent 100% more than we would have in the casino without the match play. Even kept playing some once they were gone (and boy, did they go quick!)

Really hope this is just temporary.

  11. I'm booked on a cruise for this april. Im sure I booked early saver but where can I see what rate I paid.????

The only way I was able to find out (someone else booked our upcoming cruise directly through Carnival) was to call Carnival and ask. If you booked through a PVP, you can email them, too.
