  1. With the new cabins, there is a very tight space to walk between the bed and the wall cabinent. So with this and since the new cabins have the upper cabinetry sticking out, it can cause any tall person to hit their head. You would actually have to duck or move your head to the side when walking past it. And the corner of it is not rounded at all which makes it even more dangerous. DH is 6"1 and he easily cut his head. Thankfully it wasn't a major cut.

We estimated that anyone around 5"8' or taller would have an issue. He hit his head while sober and in the daytime. Can you imagine the impact if it was on the way to the bathroom in the middle of the night - or if he was intoxicated? To further avoid this issue, we changed his side of the bed to the other side and tried to make sure he didn't have to use that side of the room.

I added a pic to cruiselinerooms to show.

Where can you get the Powerade or Vitamin Water at with Cheers? I don't think I ever seen it being sold. I'm sailing on the Victory in 2 weeks if that helps.

  3. Yep!! Me and hubby did it last month on the Serenity deck of the Pride. Hubby had the crazy idea one night so we took our pillows and blanket and off we went. We actually really enjoyed it.. Nice and quiet and the air was wonderful.. A few people popped up every now and then for a sec. A crew member was hosing off the deck and glass & when he seen us he actually apologized for disturbing us.

It was fun to do something we've never done on a cruise before.. And best part is - we were actually able to get into one of those infamous clamshells that we've been trying (unsuccessfully) for all week ;)

  4. Hi - me and my mother are new to Norwegian. We are going on the Breakaway on Oct. 5th and are so excited that it is a girls only cruise. This will be her 7th cruise and my 3rd (I have only been on Carnival). I have a few questions about smoking on board - I know you can smoke in the casino and on deck 15 at the poolside bar - is there anywhere else? We like to sit on deck at a table and relax and have a smoke or two - can we do that??

I have received this cruise through The Rivers Casino and we are only doing the Inside Room since we have a family cruise planned for May, 2015 so we cannot upgrade to a balcony.

Also, has anyone purchased cartons of cigarettes on board, if so how much are they?

I have enjoyed these threads so much and am constantly on here reading reviews and tips. Thanks to everyone for all the great info.

One more question, we will be taking the train into Penn Station and will get there at 10:55 - we plan on going directly to the port - will that time be ok?? I thought I read somewhere that the ones with the free cruise board after Handicap and VIP's - is that correct? Will it matter that we won't be there till 11:30 or so??

Hi, I'm from Pittsburgh and also have a free cruise from Rivers. We're considering doing the 11/9 sailing. If you don't mind me asking, how much was it total with the port fees & taxes? I think I'm eligible for an OV but just trying to get an idea of total cost of this "free" cruise.

Also, are you taking the Amtrak into NYC? I checked my dates but don't see anything that gets me there that early. I'm just trying to check out whatever transportation options I have. I certainly don't want to pay the NYC parking fee.

  5. Fivehole, thanks for the report.

We're thinking about doing this for our May cruise. Were there any activities or games going on while you were there? I wonder if this depends on the whether or not they have a big crowd.

Also, do they still have the trapeze? And is there a cost to try it?

  6. I was disappointed with the Mongolian grill on the Fascination. I like mine over rice and they only had noodles. Only had 3 sauces to choose from, the mild (no pepper) was black bean and I'm not a black bean fan, the slightly hot (one pepper) was Thai BBQ and the hottest (2 peppers) one I don't remember cuz I knew I didn't want the hottest so I chose the BBQ sauce. The sauce was ok. My husband thought it was just ok also. Neither of us went to the Mongolian grill again.

I just got off of the Fantasy and found out that you can also ask for soy sauce to be used. It was great. I ate there everyday. Give it another try next time around.
