  1. We also chose port side, deck 9.

Looking forward to seeing the sights after sailaway cruising down the river and then all the platforms/rigs all lit up once we enter the Gulf:D

    Sunset about 730pm 4/23

We are also Port side, accessible balcony deck 9 on Repo cruise. When I asked NCL consultant which side was best for Ports, was told Port side. Like to "people watch"! But then again, could be misinformation!

  2. I have been renting a scooter for cruises for the past 5 years and it has made cruising much easier and more enjoyable. Now I am thinking about purchasing a scooter because it can get expensive for the longer cruises that I enjoy. Normally I would keep it in the trunk of my car and only use it when I have help getting it out and putting it together. But I am worried about using it for travel because I would be unable to lift the heavier parts. No problem when I travel with my family but my travel buddy can't help me. So I'm looking for tips and advice on how those of you who travel alone or without a helper manage. Until now the convenience of finding and leaving the scooter in my cabin has been great. I also want to thank all of you who post for everything I have learned about cruising.

My travel buddy and I both use power chairs and we have gone on many cruises with them, including on airplanes. I am able to walk a little, my friend cannot walk at all. We have never had a problem. Just be sure when you arrange transportation that you specify exactly what you need. We learned the hard way that there is a big difference between "accessible" transportation, and "wheelchair accessible" transportation!

  3. I have mobility issues and must use a power chair to travel. I travel with a friend who also uses a power chair. I am very disappointed by the lack of wheelchair accessible excursions. We are currently booked on cruises to the Carribean, Bermuda, Transatlantic to Barcelona, 7-day Mediterranean, Panama Canal, and Mexican Riviera, and have found very few excursions. I feel there should at least be wheelchair accessible driving tours of all U.S. and foreign ports.

  4. Day 4: Roatan, Honduras

Roatan is a late port in so we took advantage and slept in a bit. We had a FULL day planned. I had booked, Tex, through Victor Bodden tours online to be our private driver for the day. We wanted freedom to do/see what we wanted on our own time and not be restricted by a "tour" schedule. SO GLAD we did. Tex was wonderful and went above and beyond to make sure we got our list checked off during the day and even pulled some "local" connections to make a few things happen to get everything on our list accomplished. Tex came recommended by several reviews I had read on CC and tripadvisor. Our day included: Scenic views of Roatan, zipline, monkeys, rum cake factory, cigar/rum shopping, authentic honduran lunch, and snorkeling. Yep... Tex made it all happen!

Headed to room after breakfast to pack backpacks for the day. Grabbed the extra backpack I had made for Tex and his family. Victor said Tex had 2 young boys and I had read how extremely poor the country was so I packed up some "gifts" for him like school supplies, a set of clothes for boys, and a few small toys for his boys and a couple of other items.

Down to 4 to get off ship.

What a really nice and thoughtful thing for you to do. Would not have occurred to most people.

  5. So, in getting the UDP, not only do we get charged for Illusionarium the first night (when we wanted to go) but we "lose" one of our dinners that night. Win-win for NCL, lose-lose for us. Stinks!

I bought a 3-meal package. Booked Illusionarium f(not for first night). Was charged a reduced rate and it DOES NOT count as room of the 3 specialty dinings. Neither does Ocean Blue where u also get a reduced price
