Just returned from four back to back cruises on the Celebrity Reflection. Well, three and a bit really as the March 13 cruise was reduced to five days due to the Covid19 situation.
This is not a review of each cruise but a ‘shout out’ to the Captain, Officers, Hotel Director and crew for the way they were keeping the Reflection in spick and span condition as well as super sanitizing literally everything. In particular the Hotel Director and his total staff worked tirelessly to keep things sanitized. They did an amazing job.
Due to cancellations and strict boarding procedures, the passenger complement was only about 40%. Thankfully, not one incidence of Covid19 was reported and the ship was allowed to dock in Port Everglades on March 17, begorrah, where we disembarked and went through U.S. Immigration very quickly without issue. Got home safely and into self isolation.
The decision to return was published to passengers overnight on Saturday, March 14 and a letter delivered to every cabin so it was seen first thing on Sunday, March 15. Celebrity has offered a full refund for those on the March 13 cruise plus a time dependent 50% Future Cruise Credit. In addition, those who chose to use Celebrity’s Choice Air arrangements, contacted Choice Air who arranged for replacement flights without any additional airline charge. An airline charge allowance, I believe, was being offered to passengers  who made individual bookings.
Cannot talk for everyone on board but I cannot say enough for the way Celebrity handled the situation at least from our view point. A very difficult situation handled, IMO, in an almost exemplary fashion.
As Arnold Schwarzenegger said “I’ll be back”. Thank you and well done Celebrity.

I to was on this cruise and couldn't agree more with you. Celeberity were great with us sorting out everything we did nothing even got us a quicker route home back to Scotland. Cheers

I'm going to ask that we give Celebrity (and all the cruise lines) a little bit of a break from being so critical here on Cruise Critic.  This is an unprecedented situation that is changing faster than anything I've seen in my lifetime (and I'm on the older end of the spectrum :-)).  The cruise line employees (stateside and shipboard) have been working endless hours to make decisions, revise them, make new decisions to protect passengers and crew.  They are in a no win situation.  People are upset if the don't sail; people are upset if they do.  Phone lines and websites are inundated.  It's easy for us to sit here at our computers, likely at home, and be critical.  But that's doesn't do anyone any good right now.  These are unusually challenging times for all.  The last thing we need is second guessing and negative comments about Celebrity.  While I am certain that frustrations on many fronts are high, keep in mind how stressful the situations are for those that work for the cruise lines, the ports, hotels, airlines, etc.  There are so many things at stake.  Let's all be a little more cautious in what we say here on Cruise Critic.  We all want to get through this together.

I agree with what you say, we were on Reflection when it turned back I can honestly say that Celebrity were great with us sorted everything out plus a full refund and discount on our next cruise. The 4 nights we had were a blast also with the ship not even 1/2 full never seen so many empty sun loungers to pick from.

I think that the new warning is about people.60+ and people with health issues.  Your best best is to talk to your doctor.

For myself I do not have health issues and I am under 60.  I will be sailing.  My concern is that ports are starting to close up for cruise ships.  I may not get the cruise that I originally booked.

we are sailing this coming Friday on Reflection do you know which ports are stopping the ships docking. Have heard nothing back here in Scotland not even on the news

  5. Hi We are booked to sail Reflection this Friday coming. What i need to know is when taking your 2 blt of wine on board with you do you take it in your hand luggage or put in your suitcase

    thanks

We're sailing together on Reflection in March and let me reassure you that there is plenty of choice with the Classic package without the need to upgrade or pay extra. We've done many sailings with the Classic package and haven't needed to upgrade or pay up charges. You can't get the large specialty martinis at the martini bar, but we order whatever we want, and if the drink we order (only happened once or twice in 15 years) isn't included the server will tell you and suggest an alternative. The package is good everywhere in the ship except room service and your mini bar.

    Hi Luvcrusn

Thanks for the information will now just stick with what we have got and my wife will spend the $240 saved somewhere else. Sail date 13th march never know might bump in to you so looking forward to it

Anyone else want to give us some drink suggestions, were open!!  I'm a gin n tonic guy and craft beer so those will be my drinks of choice but I want to try some others. I downloaded a file from these boards to get some ideas, we only have the classic so keep that in mind 👍

I also took a screen shot of a menu from I think the schooner bar on Rccl that had some drinks that sounded really good. Hopefully Celebrity will have them as well.

The classic package is fine... The Premium is finer...we always take the Premium as we love the World Class Bar and nothing there is included in the Classic.

If you take the Premium, always ensure that when you ask for a cocktail you make clear you want the premium spirit or else you get the less expensive stuff..

P.S. have they fixed Andy`s post box yet?

thanks Govanguy very helpfull so premium it is then, yes the post box was fixed next day pity the council are not as quick fir anything else

  9. Doing Reflection in March we have the classic drinks package included, but was wondering if worth while upgrading to the premium package. Have been trying to find an up to date drink menu but so far no joy. If any body has one could they please post so as we can have a look to see what we get with either package.

    many thanks

  10. One word my friend - Victor Bodden! We are booked with them for our cruise next year!!

Thanks have got him booked looking forward to it very much

  11. Not sure what news source you are reading, but overall the port and the island are reasonably safe. Lots of American and Canadian ex pats lived on the island, full or part time. For good independent excursion providers look at reviews here for Victor Sodden or Rony's Tours.

Hi had a look at at Victor Bodden (think this is who you meant) and have booked a tour with him. thanks for the help:cool:

  12. I believe safety to be far more about who one is than where they are.. anyone can get into trouble if they fail to behave as a guest (one does not flaunt one's wealth, no dripping of jewelry, no flashing of cash,) in another's county. Roatan is an island off the coast of a third world country, the haves and the have-nots live in very close proximity, the have-nots can become very desperate indeed.

As Crewsweeper says, if one hires a reputable tour operator they should be fine no matter behavior. Trip Advisor has a list of things to do: HERE

By the by ~ I would be interested in links to the info about lack of safety.

Hi have read this on SMARTER TRAVEL and th British Foreign Office site but we will still take our tour and enjoy a new destination we never been to before . thanksfor the advice:cool:
