  1. Gidday fellow cruisers!

Going to board soon, have a few questions for anyone who is on, or has recently traveled on, Ovation.

Are pre cruise covid tests required or do we just do the (pre covid) health questionnaire?

What movies are currently showing, any recent releases?

Can I cast from my electronic device to the tv in my cabin?

Last one, any idea how much the internet package is?

    Thanking you in advance.

    TraceyG    🙂

  2. Gidday fellow cruisers, so nice to hear the ANZAC humour on these boards!

Now Chilli, remember to report on the Johnny Rockets or Fish & Ships matter for me please.

Also, gbenjo, what are the boarding times like?

We are in the Rydges Sydney Harbour hotel & check out at 10am, I think, & have my er, elderly

Ma & Pa with us.  They are Gold & the rest of our crew are lowly Platinum.

What is our best option so that Ma & Pa are not standing too long?

The rest of us can wait if necessary.

    TraceyG 🙂

  3. Gidday fellow cruisers!

Can finally say that, now that we are entering the ANZAC cruise season.

Okay, so, I need an email address to get the $3k, yep, shortfall on my Mum's Royal 2020 cruise sorted.

I have been working on this since 2020...

Keep sending emails & calling the 0800 number but nothing gets done!

Furthermore, no replies to my emails or 0800 requests that the lovely 0800 team send through to accounts.

Am booked for a cruise in January with Mum & she kinda need the cash for a drinks package, pensions aren't what they used to be.

Thinking of sending my request to Royal NZ, but they have no contact details on their page or to Jessie Ortiz the Stateside Finance VP.

    Anyone got anything, please?

    TraceyG 🙂

  4. I totally believe the Op regarding this matter.

Our extended family VOTS cruise was cancelled the evening before we were to fly to Sydney in March 2020.

I am STILL trying to get the FCCs sorted out!

Asked for one of the FCCs to be refunded in early 2021, STILL have not got the money!!!

Royal said it is too late to request the refund for the 2020 passenger, I had to provide evidence that we had asked over a year previosly for the refund?  Now, they want to credit the proceeds directly to the passengers bank account rather than follow their own terms & conditions of refunding to the credit card the proceeds came from, whaaat?

They stuffed up my Ma & Pa's FCC by giving 1/3 of it to someone else, a child & we had to get her Dad (my brother) to sign the child's FCC balance to the original owners of the fare???

Ma is STILL awaiting part of her pre cruise purchases from the 2020 trip, I did a spreadsheet for crying out loud!!!

It seems that the bean counters refuse to correct their own errors & the passengers have to jump hoops to get their own funds back, so rude & very unprofessional.

I reckon the Royal Accounts Team needs some customer service training.

As my Ma says, it just drains your will to live 😔

Used a travel agent for our 2023 Ovation trip, she is sorting the FCCs etc out for us.

Okay, word vomit over, looking forward to January 2023, hey, what about those drinks prices 😄

  5. Thank you Chiliburn  🙂

Still don't have my FFC sorted.

My March 2020 cruise should be a happy memory but the cancellation of it has turned into an administration nightmare with RCI 😒

Looks like I may not be cruising until the 2024/2025 season.

    Will continue to be patient.

  6. Gidday fellow cruisers!

So, our intergenerational family cruise was cancelled in March 2020, the night before

we were to fly from Auckland to Sydney.

    FCCs were issued, allgoods.

Then, another trip was booked for March 2021, using the FCC credit, with a few extra

people added to the mix, also cancelled.

FCCs were issued, but some credit given to people in the party who didn't pay by FCC.

Then a further March 2022 trip was booked, used FCCs again, can-celled!

Again, incorrect FCC refund values & people who didn't use FCC to pay now have FCC credit

that was originally someone else's. 🙄

I have spent 18 months trying to iron out this mess, so fed up! 😒

While I understand that it is not the cruise line's fault they can't sail, they do have a responsibility to refund or reissue FCCs correctly. 🤬

Please, does anyone know someone who can assist? 😢

Thank you all, we will get cruising again, someday.

    TraceyG 🙂

  7. I think there will be many happy tears in airports across Australia & New Zealand.

Our trip was cancelled the day before we were to fly out from Auckland in March 2020 so I am hanging out to see my brother in Sydney.

The open borders have been hard won by both countries, I watch what is going on in other places worldwide with a mix of bewilderment & horror, why governments & individual citizens continue to do what doesn't work & then wonder why we in the Antipodes have such 'good luck' it wasn't luck people!

Still feeling uncertain that my March 2022 cruise from Sydney is a certainty, watching events closely.

    TraceyG 😀

  8. Thank you for the update.

I offer my sincere condolences to David's family.

Our whanau had the wonderful joy of cruising with David on our first family cruise on the Diamond Princess.

David was always gracious, in person & on the boards.

I really enjoyed his photos and banter.

    David will be greatly missed.

  9. Gidday cruise support team!

Just went into the Aussie Royal website to see if late 2022 bookings were open yet

and I noticed that the earliest booking for ANZAC cruises are April 2021.

    Have I missed something?

Mum is booked on a replacement trip for March 2021 for the late notice cancellation

we had this year but has not been advised her 2021 trip has cancelled, any ideas?

    TraceyG😀

  10. Gidday all!

    Chiliburn that is very tempting.

Our whanau (family) is awaiting the late 2022 release so that we can sail on Wonder of the Seas.

We were very blessed to have sailed on Ovation of the Seas in her first season in ANZAC waters, she is a lovely ship.

However, 2020 wasn't kind in that our cruise was cancelled the day before we were due to fly to Sydney.  I am still trying to recover accomodation costs...

Have heard a rumour that there are discussions regarding domestic sailings, would be happy to sail on one of those, although the draft conditions regarding Covid cruising look pretty scary.  All we need is for a couple of people to get sick and we wind up confined to quarters, DH not keen.  Level 4 in NZ was difficult enough, lockdown on vacation would be too much.

Resigned for a long wait at the moment, but very grateful as we are in a much better place than some.

I heard a rumour that the AFL Grand FInal is going to be played at Eden Park in Auckland as its the only stadium on the planet free of COVID 19 and can house 60,000 paying spectators. Noone will understand how the game is played though

I would finally get tickets for an AFL Grand Final yay!

For our 30-Mar Voyager cruise to Sth Pacific our local guy on the ground (tour operator in Vila) advised overnight that Port Vila, Noumea & Mystery Is are open & confirmed that Lifou, Isle of Pines, and Mare are closed until end of March. We are due in IOP on 2-Mar & Mare on 3-Mar, so looks touch & go for us at this stage for those visits.

I expect we will do something close to our scheduled itinerary after that as we are in Vila, Mystery Is & Noumea. the following 3 days. Maybe we will overnight in one or two of those places if we miss the others?

So, it's not clear what may happen with the departures before 30-Mar.

Enjoy wherever we may end up!

I wonder if you will add Louganville, have seen that on some amended itineraries.

Thank you, Buzz Buzzen and Kiwi Kruzer for the information.

    TraceyG 🙂
