Option would maybe see if a suite that sleeps 3 or 4 is available.  Have only stayed in the single and double bed rooms.  At the most there is only 3 of us and son can sleep with me or mom on the bed.

Thanks, frank808. I ended up calling (the Hilton Marina Hotel) to inquire & was told not available.  However, when I booked the 2 double bed tower room online, it gave me an option to request various suites at an additional cost, which I did.  However, I will not find out until I check in whether I will get the upgrade.

  2. We are considering the Hilton Marina Hotel for our December cousin cruise.  There are 3 of us ladies so we need our space.  I ruled out the Embassy Suites due to the poor reviews.  In the past I have stayed at the Hyatt Place for the space but I would prefer a view & easy access to the water taxi.  From looking at the website, it looks like they only offer 2 double beds.  I did not see a sofa bed mentioned.

Any thoughts & suggestions would be appreciated.

  3. Love this place. Last night when I tried to book it on my ipad it showed full. When I was lamenting about it on my Roll Call, someone reported the same thing, but that when he tried again on his desktop he was successful in booking. So I went to my laptop and tried. Voila. It worked. I will not try again to book using my mobile devices. And try to book again but on a laptop or desktop if this has happened to you.

  4. My fav. During high season the nicer hotels are requiring two night min on weekends & upping the rates on weekends. But after Labor Day that should stop except for maybe holidays.

I drive everyone in my party next door to the cruise terminal & drop them off with all the luggage, return to HH parking lot, park & walk back to the terminal. Easy. Fast. No traffic. No waiting.

This is especially convenient during foggy season when the ships might be delayed coming &/or going. This way you can wait at the hotel & are there to see when the ship actually arrives & be the first to arrive ahead of the mob that has been unable to park (lots still full from previous week's passengers still on ship waiting in harbor for fog to lift). Can you tell I have been in this situation a few times?

  5. I am speculating that with the pre cruise specialty dining packages currently providing that your first dinner venue will be chosen for you as well its date being assigned on either night 1 or night 2 (unless you are able to change it onboard), they are able to fill nights 1 & 2 without having to offer discounts.

  6. I must agree with what everyone else is saying about Miami DJ. We were on for their first cruise on the reflection (November 23), and they were HORRIBLE and wonder what celebrity was thinking. I am really not happy with the the entertainment is going, even my 15 y.o. son hates this group and hopes they are not still there when we return to reflection in march.

Anyone know when Miami DJ's contract is up? Hopefully before March 8, 2014.

If you are looking at the 1-2-3 or Pick Your Perk, or other offers from Celebrity which have as one of their options an on-board credit, then no, these cannot be combined with the Shareholder credit

So are you saying that if I have the 1-2-3 Classic Drink Package from Celebrity and my TA added gratuities, I will not get my Shareholder credit?

  8. beaver, tell your wife thanks for the recommendation! Baileys Banana Colada with chocolate? YUM! I don't even drink and that sounds delicious!

BBC is my favorite. Never heard of adding chocolate! Sounds interesting. Will definitely try it on my upcoming cruise. Thanks for sharing.

  9. Fort Lauderdale Dec 24 and 25. Any tried and true suggestions for Christmas dinner on the 25th?? Party of 8 (4 adults 4 teens)

    thanks!

Would like to know myself. We arrive Christmas afternoon and will be staying at the Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale Airport North, which I understands has a shuttle from FLL to the hotel, and from the hotel to the cruise terminal, so we will have no rental car.

  10. I read a post the other day about bringing a certain type of tape for door decorations. Is decorating your door a common practice?

The vast majority do not decorate, but I do. After trying several different things, I have found that duck tape works best to keep the decorations up.

  11. We are cruising the week of Oct 21st and some folks on our Roll Call say that they have heard that Carnival has Halloween Parties on cruises during the month of October. Can someone who has cruised on the Conquest in October please tell me if they did that on your cruise and if they do, what it consists of and if guest wear costumes? Thanks!
