Thank you for that.  Not received the email in the UK yet.  Anyway, it’s running in the background.

They must have filmed it in the winter because there’s snow and ice, like, everywhere!  The beaches must be empty

  2. We sailed that cruise last week (22-29) and we’re underwhelmed by the whole experience. The food was just so so in the restaurants and even the fare at the prebooked Cirque de Solie, Eatily and Butchers Cut failed to enhance our experience.

The buffet was well worth avoiding. The choice varied little daily but it was our fellow guests that ruined the environment with their queue (line) jumping and ‘me first’ attitude.

Having sailed MSC before, we were aware of their daily disembarking and embarking guests so this was not a surprise.

We had vowed, after sailing the Med with MSC in 2012, that we would a, never sail the Med again and b, never sail MSC again and it was only because this was a Christmas cruise and we’d be sailing with ten friends that we relented on our promise.

The only good thing was the drinks package. At €182 for the week, it proved great value for money plus, there was no restriction on he amount of drinks bought in a single transaction. This was especially useful when buying a large round for the twelve of us. One round of drinks would have cost in excess of €80 had it been bought.

The other great thing about MSC is that it’s a wonderful advert for NCL

  3. If you have a tux, by all means bring it. A lot of people dressed up for the Captain's night on our cruise (though very few did for the other formal night!) I've read on the forum that Christmas Eve is a big night onboard and that Christmas Day is more muted. I'll be finding out for myself this year as we're on Orchestra for Christmas.

Oh ................. and bring your reindeer jumper, too! That way you'll be covered whatever the style is onboard! ;p

    Got it!

Thanks once again. You're a gem

  4. You'll find that your Daily Programs will be very similar. Unlike the usual dailies, the ones on Meraviglia don't put the suggested dress code for the evening on the front page. Go to the HIGHLIGHTS/ENTERTAINMENT section on the planners where the theme for the night is indicated when there is one.

    Thank you once again Bea,

I must be missing something. It appears to me that the Highlights\Entertainment section only details events in bars etc. but neglects mention of "Gala\Formal\Elegant Nights".

I suppose my question should be :-

"Should I bring my DJ (Tux) and if I do, will it spend the whole week in the wardrobe (closet)"?

We are on board on Christmas Day, maybe my reindeer jumper will be, de rigueur.

  5. Hi guys,

I've done a search but can only find 2009 or $ info.

Has anyone been on a recent European Poesia cruise?

What were the bar prices like for beer (draught or bottle) and wine?

I'm trying to add up if the meal time all inclusive is good value or not

    Regards,

    Papcx.

We're booked on Sinfonia's Western Med cruise out of Majorca in October and we've taken the AI drinks package at £38 per person per night. Now, that might sound expensive but you don't get hit with the 15% service charge. Or you could look at as £33 plus 15%!!

    Take a look at http://www.msccruises.co.uk/uk_en/ms...ve-cruise.aspx
