You cannot book cruises through the app, only "administer" existing cruises. Now, that may all change with the new app that is due out Dec. 1st...nobody really knows what this new app is going to deliver yet.

So, to answer your question,  you will still book via the web (should you desire to book directly with Princess) as you have always been able to do.

And...unless they drastically change the dining reservations (they certainly could) you can use the "web version" in your cruise personalizer to make your dining reservations.

I used the web for everything in a booking thanks to advise on these boards. Am hoping they don't change things and try to push the app on use like Carnival.

Thanks for your reply, getting excited to surprise the family. It will be their first time on Princess 😁 our first time on Majestic.

Maybe I've missed something in this thread....but has anybody given thought to the *possibility* that this new app has been developed by another firm?  Maybe...just maybe Princess has "seen the light" with the current dev team and has decided to go with someone that has a bit more software prowess?  We can only hope...

Hello, you were so helpful with our Oct. 2022 first time medallion cruise. We didn't use the app did everything through the web page on our booking. The medallion itself was great. We like going to get things ourselves and had no issues from boarding to leaving. Now I did have an issue with shore excursions but that was my fault.

Now my question, I am booking 3 cabins for next July and wonder if you know if I can still do everything in the web or with the new app we will be required to go through that? We were forced to do the app on another line but found out once we were on it was only good for dining. They wouldn't take any calls you had to use the app. It was very hard to remove from his phone after and he gets bombarded with ads now. Six of us this time so want all information as this trip will be their Christmas gift.

Thanks as always for your input.

  3. We have cruised Alaska three times but not on Carnival yet. Have been looking at this ship to take pour grandson who will be 14 next month. Question how did you like the balcony cabin? We want an unobstructed balcony as we use this. Was it covered? Would a third person be comfortable a balcony cabin on this ship? We like smaller vessels but because it will be his first trip to Alaska and my last sadly we would venture on a larger ship.

Thanks for your review appreciate your viewpoint.

Not COVID (negative), but a sinus infection. Not fun! Sore throat started Friday morning, full blown infection didn’t hit until Sunday afternoon.

Think I probably lost weight on board, I’ve never eaten so little over the course of a week. I’m going to seriously reconsider any future cruises (none planned, but was looking at planning another).

I wasn't happy with the food either but I died gain 4 pounds, turned out to be fluid 😁. Don't plan to sail out of NY on Carnival again though. Sailed from this same pier on NCL and boarding was nothing like the mess we dealt with for this cruise.

  5. We just sailed on this ship. The lines were long at certain times but it moved quickly. We didn't really think the variety was worth the wait but did like the deli. Omelet station is quick as well. Then you can have burritos for breakfast or lunch, guys burgers, or pizza all fair. We preferred MDR this trip though, Grand Canal had brunch almost daily and we had early seating after the first night just showed up on time and sat ourselves.

Oh and yes the floors around the buffet outside area were very slippery at times wear deck shoes but still be careful.

  6. Just returned from our Venezia cruise, will post a review in member reviews tomorrow. We missed Amber Cove this trip? They did tell us at the port and an announcement as to why was made on board, but we didn't understand a word he said. We could never understand any announcements while sitting on deck 5. Didn't matter to us much took this cruise for the ship not the ports. Understand from others this port would have been better than Grand Turk.

Well it wasn't a horror show others wrote about and we are home.

  7. Finally one more day, this time tomorrow we will be sailing. Today went well train arrived on time 10:50 grabbed a taxi and was at the hotel by 11:15. We left the bags and headed out. Got notice room was ready by three but didn't come back for a while. Had a nice late lunch early dinner at Landmark Tavern. We were starved walk 3.35 miles and didn't eat breakfast just a quick bagel at 6:30.

Well hope everybody gets here safely we are in for the night just going to veg.

    Have a good night, Laura

Ugh, I am a bit nervous as now it is two storms that are circulating.  Do you think we will have any change in ports?  I am most nervous about possible rough seas. I get pretty sick and taking my 3 year old on her first cruise who also suffers from motion sickness.  I have bands and dramamine and ear patches .... crossing my fingers that we miss them!

I'm watching as well. I generally don't get sick however I'm taking extra meds just in case.

Have had rough seas in the Pacific a few time with storms never had to change ports though. Cruise now had to change ports but still in the Caribbean. It looks like we will either go through some high seas and still do our itinerary or go around the bad weather and maybe miss a port and or sea day.

Just hope for the best I figure the line will do what is best for everybody including themselves.

A lot can happen in three days 😁 .

    Have a day, Laura

Sorry in advance if someone has mentioned a meet and greet. ive not read through the entire thread. Anyone interested in a $5 pp slot pull meet and greet in the casino? Split the winnings

Nobody set up a meet and greet the person who started the roll call said FB has events. I love slot pulls but they have way to many people who are attending.

Anybody on this roll call want to meet up next week, I do and sweet November is looking? We have some groups on here any thoughts on when and where?

    Thank

I will be on this cruise with 3 of my girlfriends.  A little getaway without hubbies or kids!  So looking forward to it.  We have the 11-11:30 boarding time.  Anybody else doing a girls trip?

Welcome aboard, we are finally in single digits. We have the same check in time because our hotel check out is 11:00 and only a few minutes from the pier. Looking forward to cruising on this ship.

    Have a great week, Laura

    Hi Everyone,

    10 Days woohooo!!!

I snagged the 11am - 11:30 check in time.  Is everyone as excited as I am?  For those who use Facebook, we have a Venezia 8/31 - 9/8 group if you would like to join.  Also on that page, you can sign up for different events such a slot pull, meet and greet etc. 🙂

Great I saw something was told to go to events? Wondered why this board was so quiet, do you think most folks are on FB?

Hello there! I'm on this cruise!

Super late to the party - booked as a free cruise through casino match, going to be in a cove balcony (and very excited for that!). I'm 27F, traveling with my aunt. First vacation as just the two of us, so that should be interesting - we previously went on a family cruise as about 10 of us in 2017 I think?

No excursions planned at this time, we're looking to just lay on the beach, be in a pool, etc. Might still book something, but it's not a priority. Taking it very low key. I like sea days with just lounging, drinking, eating, playing cards, and leaving out of NYC was probably my biggest priority.

We live in NJ (about 1-1.5 hours with a bit of traffic), and I normally drive my parents to the port to sail on NCL (they go to Bermuda out of NYC 2x per year) so I'm very familiar with driving in, but I don't particularly want to park at the port... just an expense I haven't planned for, it's just as much as the cheers package! Might look into the EWR transport to the port if we can get in on that, it's just that much easier to get to the airport via public transportation if we have to.

Just a few more days! Going to start getting my stuff together today. Need to coordinate everything we are bringing. We basically just started planning.... this week.... been booked for a LONG time.

Welcome, this board is quiet but some input through the three pages. Looking forward to this ship, haven't been on Carnival for over 10 years.

    Have a good night, Laura

If you go to the main dining room as soon as you embark, and explain your situation, I am sure they will find a place for you in an assigned dining time slot.  We can done this several times, and have always been successful in getting a switch.  Best of luck and enjoy your cruise!

Thank you that will be our first stop, good tip.

On a Princess ship last fall. They didn’t clear the deck. IMG_3037.thumb.jpeg.ca651fd31f7b4783a1561efef4670c9a.jpeg

Was that the Sapphire in Oct.? We were on this one and they did ask people to stay away. We just waited it out sitting on our balcony. Phones go in the safe and only come out when we are in port.

This is just my opinion, but if you aren't willing to use a smart phone on a Carnival vacation, I recommend you pick one of the set MDR times.  Otherwise you will have to go to the restaurant you want to eat at that particular night, they are likely to be somewhat blunt ("you need to check in on the app", but will eventually add you to the wait list), and you could be in for a long wait, standing near the restaurant waiting for a table to be ready.  Just doesn't seem worth the hassle, especially if you plan to eat in the MDR a few nights.

And in my experience, if you are on one of the Excel Class ships, unless you show up before opening for anywhere but Pig and Anchor, you will be in for a wait - it could be ten minutes or it could be over an hour.  This was true for all five of our MG cruises and one Celebration cruise.  These are great ships, but I would skip anytime dining if I didn't want to use a smart phone (or tablet).

We always have early seating but didn't book until six months out and have been waitlisted. Still on the list but have two weeks until we sail.

The coin pusher machine is where the REAL money’s at. Cha-Ching.

I love this machines 😂I know you never win big but I enjoy seeing if I can get the coins over the lip in the front. Last time with my Aunt was on NCL. Had a whole bucket of coins having won on two different sides and got her hooked we lost the bucket full and had a great time.

I have a set limit so its always fun to win a little so I can keep playing.

  18. All checked in have 11:00-11:30, way to early for me but check out is 11:00 unless we can get late check out on the 31st. then will go to the port after lunch time. Only need to add our passport numbers but the system was down again. That's fine will try again later forgot this line doesn't have this info on record so figured just add later.

Well two more weeks finally. Stay safe, Laura
