Back from my Solo Cruise on the Carnival Splendor …………..
Nice job on the photos, love the Splendor.

I typically make lots of friends on cruises, but I haven't gone solo before. I'm kind of intrigued by the idea.
For the sailing I am looking at, there is a solo discount that makes the solo price close to the same as double occupancy
That’s perfect, all of the sole people will want to party in your cabin and balcony. :)

Hello all,
I am thinking about doing a solo cruise on the Getaway. Price being roughly the same, is there really any kind of advantage to the studio room? Or should I go for the balcony? I guess what I am curious about is the social aspect of the studio room. Does it really facilitate meeting people, or should I just go with a balcony room and make friends the old fashioned way? lol
Are you sure the price is the same? Usually you pay double for solo in a balcony. If the cost is almost the same for sure get the balcony.

Also when they give you the receipt take a photo of the bottle and the receipt on the table. Sometimes they mix up an expensive bottle for a cheap one.

I know some have said you can use OBC to buy chips at the casino (for a 3% fee). Do you have to stipulate using the OBC at the cashier’s office (or customer service desk for tipping) vs them charging the cc they have on file?
Or, will it be automatically taken from the OBC?
They will automatically use it but you can tell them that you have some non refundable OBC that you want to make sure you use for Butler tips. Write down each persons exact name or take their card that you want to tip.
-
Did you use refundable or non refundable OBC?
You can use either.

And a very stupid question - DH cautions me about mixing booze. If I order two or three different types of margaritas is it a problem? I think all are tequila but they have other booze in them, right?
I like the perfect margarita the best. Have fun.

Hope you don't mind one more question. If I considered the bigger balcony on deck 9, what is on deck 8 at the very aft of the ship right below? Is there outside eating right below the cabin? Is that part of Cagney's that is open for breakfast? I love the idea of the biggest balcony, but we also like a quiet cabin :)
This is what you have under you.

Just print what you just wrote and show it them. I bet when they see how much you want them to go they might take a chance. Good luck. :)

That's interesting.... Did everyone send a photo? Just wondering how hard it is to get everyone to participate.
We had a few that didn’t send in a photo and we had the usual that didn’t show up. He had us join the cruisers site where you upload a photo and tell about yourself and then put in the ships name and date to find the group.
We could also Email a photo to him. I think the part that made it work was that it was a surprise. He just told us that he needed a photo for a project that he was working on. I’m sure that your group will have a great time even if you don’t do many extras.

We had a fun and different twist where the meet and greet coordinator had us send him a photo of ourselves. He didn’t say what it was for. Partway through the meet and greet he had his wife put an envelope in front of everyone.
When we opened the envelope in front of us all at the same time he said that we had to go and match up the photo that we received with the person in the room that it went to. We had to bring the match up to the front and we introduced ourselves to the group and said where we were from. The first three people that had a match got a small gift.
There was some fun scrambling around at first to be the first with a match. It got everyone up from their seats and moving around the room for about ten minutes. Then he went back and did the usual ending of the meet and greet.

The coffee makers in the haven and suites are kept filled with water by the butler.
This, and stocked and cleaned daily.

2018 Le Bistro menu (unknown NCL ship) no longer lists the 32oz ribeye (serves 2 people). :(
http://www.beyondships2.com/uploads/8/2/4/5/8245255/cr_235_bistro.pdf
i will be on the Bliss in Oct.
For those who sailed the Bliss, is the 32oz Ribeye still there?
They also took out the Tomahawk ribeye in Cagney’s. :')

Great job, thanks for taking us along with you and your wife. :)

I could never bash Titus and the fish. After the shark went under I signed up with the fish and Titus has saved me a few thousand dollars. Twice on NCL in suites I had hits for $800 that was only up for a few hours. I’ve also had some $400 hits on Princess and a lot of small ones along the way. Where else can you put a dollar down and possibly get $800 or more back on your investment?
I have invested at the most $50 in fish credits. If Titus made a lot of money from his service, good for him. I think that sometimes people get a little too greedy and expect good things to last forever. You know that Titus has cost the cruise lines a lot of money and the site is still working for me. Bottom line is we should all be looking for our own breaks if it is that important to us.

I’m on the Bliss right now H6 12306. The bed is near the balcony
Good for you. I love that cabin but it’s too much for one person now. Have fun!:)

i dont see a bar setup option when i log into my acct?
(i have bliss oct booked.)
If you call the NCL 800 number and ask for the bon voyage bar setup delivered to your cabin, they will tell you the prices or they will email you a price list. Make sure you have them email you a receipt to take onboard just in case. If you are in a suite they will usually give you more mixers as needed. Other cabins the limit is six.
Hope this helps.:)

:cocktail::cocktail:On NCL you can purchase full bottles of Alcohol for $99 - $139, they keep the bottle at the main bar with your name on it & you go for a drink when you like. It seems quite dear, $99 for a $ 15 bottle of rum or vodka but consider 15 drinks at cruise ship prices is over $ 200. This might be a good strategy if you like a drink or two a day and especially for the longer cruises.
:tropical-drink:
This must be a recent change by NCL. My experience has always been that you order a bar setup online before the cruise. Your bottle is delivered to your cabin with six mixers of your choice. You can also go to a bar to pick up a cup of limes or olives. You then mix your drinks in the cabin. :)

99% sure that 12310 is bed near balcony on Escape. Bliss should be the same. I have a list for all aft-facing (H6, B1, M1) on Escape for bed location but I don't have visual conformation for all. Please post pictures when you return.
Thanks, I'm not going until Oct. but I will post photos.

Really?
I looked at the video and it looks like beautiful room with a HUGE balcony, what are you worried about?
It looks nice to me too. I have 12310 and I hope the bed is up by the window like it is on 12308. It does look like the closet is pretty small if you just get that section on the left side for hanging clothes. It’s a beautiful ship and the cabins all look great. I feel like I know the ship already with the three live threads going on right now.
Thank you to all of the posters that have put so much time in taking us along.

Doug, I love that you are taking us along with you. This is one of the best lives ever. I think you should turn around and go back to the cabin with your lady. Tomorrow is another day. I would also do mostly flattering shots of Sue from now on. You have a keeper there don't mess it up. Have fun on the rest of the cruise.
Bliss in October for me.
