  1. are you using a TA or a carnival PVP? I did a group booking for a wedding and used a carnival group booking PVP. Everyone could book how they wanted (early saver vs non-early saver), cheers or no cheers, and we still got the free berths for booking so many rooms. She is still my personal PVP til this day.

  2. I truly go through your posts regularly. Unfortunately due to fiancé falling at work requiring surgery and two deaths we had to push our wedding back. It was just way to much to deal with. We finally booked our date with Janelle. It's March 11th 2018 and I'm very excited. So I may be picking your brain along the way. 💕

Going through everything that life has handed you recently is just proof that you are in a strong relationship. I'm glad you have been able to book your wedding date. I am still lurking around the wedding boards so I hope I will be able to help out if needed!

  3. Somebody might decide to pour some booze in one of those bottles to take off the ship.

I took a little 3 oz flask with me on my last cruise with cheers, ordered a couple straight bourbons at the end of the night and had some booze for on the islands. I was never questioned bringing an empty flask back on the ship. I think it would be easy to take liquor off the ship with the powerade bottles especially since you can just trash the bottle before getting off the ship.

  4. Now that I'm thinking of the weight... if I get in the water with that dress I might not be able to get out with it

I would be really leery about going in the water with a heavy dress. Mine was light with a shorter train and when the photographer asked if I was comfortable floating in the water with my dress I had to say no. It was hard to walk out of the water at only waist deep, I fell a couple of times.

  5. Well im already almost two years past my cruise wedding but figured i would put in my two cents. I purchased a Stella York because i loved the designer and wanted a light dress (all of her dresses were super light) model picture....

Of course looks much different on everyone, my husband didn't want to do the whole day thing but we ended up doing it anyway. We had an island wedding with full reception on the island; got back to the ship around 4:30; and then ended up hanging out out and doing dinner in our wedding garb.

Word of warning - figure out your bathroom situation with your dress, they are really small bathrooms on the ship. I fortunately (have no idea how) went the entire day from about 10am to 9pm without going to the bathroom. which was a good thing because my dress was fitted extra around my thighs to get the shape I wanted. I would have had to take the entire thing off to go to the bathroom. Didn't think of that at the fittings!

We ended up on our honeymoon cruise (was lucky enough to be able to to a b2b) doing a trash the dress on St. Thomas with our wedding photographer. Dress only went into the water. I came home, dry cleaned it and hung it back up in its garment bag, dress is still fine.

  6. Good morning everyone!

My fiance and I are getting married this August in Nassau, the Bahamas and I'm looking for inspiration. We are arriving to Nassau via the Carnival Fantasy but we hired a local planner. We are trying to decide decor and flowers. Does anyone mind sharing pictures of their day to help us get ideas?

I don't know what options your planner is giving you, we did a few DIY projects to accompany the little options we had. We told our planner our color scheme and that was all we could do with her without making our own additions. I made our bouquets (fake) and the planner did the centerpieces (fresh flowers). I made table runners and supplied the napkins because lime green was not a standard color option for linens. here are some pictures, i also have a review of my wedding cruise in my signature below. Happy Planning!

  7. I think the main dining room would be fine for your guests. For our port wedding we did a "rehearsal" dinner the night before in specialty dining (for a larger group this must be pre-planned well before the sailing). I felt bad for the other diners; we did have half of the steakhouse to ourselves but we were still a large group (32 people) that created a larger than usual noise.

I think just having the whole group there after the wedding will be great, doesn't matter what room you eat in.

  8. I did all the research myself for the cruise line group advantage and wedding on island cost. The only real difference i saw with an "international" water wedding was requirements to be able to obtain a marriage licence. This is all dependent on where you want to get married. I know the weddings that my wedding planner offered were priced between a few hundred dollars to 10-15 thousand dollars. It all depends on what you want. I was married on St. Thomas and had no problems with wedding licence (because it is a US Territory) and i have a full blown wedding and reception, which was in the upper price range.

For the deals with the cruise lines.... Most TA don't work with Carnival real well for groups, if that was a line you were looking at. I went through a Carnival Group PVP (their customer service booking people) and booked a group through them. I did early saver so we could get any price drops up until 2 days before the wedding. Downsides to this: 1) cancelling a room became a hassle for whoever backs out because ES rates are restricted 2) we lost all ability to earn "perk points" (free wine, flowers, etc) by choosing the cheaper rate. With a group for every 8 Rooms (16 berths) booked you got a free berth.

There is a lot of information on these boards, and many people are willing to let you know what they went through. Hope this helps!

  9. We were married at Magen's Bay and it was gorgeous. You will love it! We had a larger group and a reception though so I cant help out with the beach planning very much.

I was able to get two steamers onto the ship for my wedding, so never say never; I took on a large and small "my little steamer". All of our guys were in linen, this was a huge help.

We did dinner in the main dining room in all of our garb that night. It was fun. I would second the idea of a specialty restaurant to make it more romantic.

    Congrats!

  10. its charged to your sail and sign account but like any other charge the receipt is brought out to you at the end of the dinner...one so you have it for your records but also, you can tip more if you want. For me the $75 a person is more than enough and tip is included in that just like the steakhouse upcharge. Sometimes you get someone who goes above and beyond though.

  11. Congrats! I was married on St. Thomas April 2014, with the help of Janelle, Stu and Island Bliss. They are fantastic to work with. Had a few hiccups like my custom cake not making it to my wedding. Janelle gave me a few options and ran to the store; made the grocery store cake work without any guests even knowing.

If you want, you can check out my review http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2033447 its of the whole cruise but there's posts and pictures of the wedding in there.

Enjoy all the ups and downs of wedding planning (there will be both!) the day is so very much worth it when it arrives!!
