  1. Thanks for the feedback. The excursion sounds awesome! Did you get off and go into the town of Marigot or just go by on the boat? How much time are you off the boat on the beach or in the town vs time on the boat?

On Carnival there are 2 options for this tour. One that has shopping in Marigot and one that does not. The one that stops in Marigot you have 1 hr shopping, 1hr snorkel, and 1hr at the beach. The version without shopping has 1 hr snorkeling and 1.5 hrs at the beach.

On Carnival the tours are called

    Power Rafting - Around the island;

    and

Power Rafting - Snorkel, Shop and Beach.

  2. We did this excursion on Carnival and it was AWESOME!!! We snorkeled at

Creole Rock in the French nature reserve and it was by far the best snorkeling we have done in St. Maarten. We then came back around the part of the island that we skipped by going through the lagoon, and went to the most amazing little beach. (water was too rough to go around the island) The boat pulled right up to the beach and you could wear your life jacket or float on a provided pool noodle while the crew served us drinks. You definitely dont need to be a strong swimmer to get to the beach. They bring you in as close as possible with the boat. It was a perfect way to see spend the day in St. Maarten. Even if you don't make it all the way around the island the trip is well worth it and you see more of the island by water then you otherwise would going on a sailing boat. Two thumbs up from this cruiser.

  3. How long did the tour last? How did you get there from the ship? Did they serve any lunch/food? I will be there with my two daughters 24 & 21 and I think they would love the live music. Sounds like alot of fun!! Did you time to do anything else..like shop before heading back to ship? Did you see a lot of people stumbling back..lol

The tour lasts about 3-3.5 hours and the Kon Tiki picks you up right from the same dock your where your ship is. The live music was really a blast and very entertaining. On the way out they give the history of the harbor, point out some sight, and play some games like name that tunes. On the way back after the beach thats when the band really gets going. They also have a limbo contest and also try to get the whole boat up and dancing. I guess it helps if you have a couple of rum punches in you. Hehe

I think you and your daughters will really enjoy it.

On my trip the Kon Tiki went in the afternoon so there was ample time to shop prior to the tour. If your ship is at the WICO Havensight pier there is a shopping mall about 100 yards from the dock.

    hope this helps

  4. So, could you tell us the average age of the guests? Young crowd? Were there a lot of drunk people? (my husband does not like being around a lot of amateurs! :D)

Please see my response to Baglemom6

The Kon Tiki apparently just started back up so it is not as packed as what it used to be. No one seemed "drunk" everyone was just "happy." So to answer your question. NO there were not a lot of drunks if any.

  5. What a great review. It sounds like a lot of fun. Would you recommend going on there with a 5 year old or is it more for adults?

    Thanks.

Absolutely! There were a few young childeren on board and they joined in all the fun dancing and Limbo activities. They no longer give away free rum punch but now have a full pay bar. There is free fruit punch provided. I guess it cuts down on the rowdy crowd. However that being said everyone still had plenty to drink and a lot of fun.

The guests ages were anywhere from 30 - 60 years old. Everyone seemed to enjoy the tour so I would recommend it for all ages and families. It was really great that you could walk right off the boat onto the beach. I would think that feature would attract elderly people and families with small children who wouldn't want swim 50 yards to the beach.

    Hope this answers your question.

  6. My husband and I just came back from a cruise on the Allure of the Seas and finally did the Kon Tiki. We have been there many times but normally opt for a sailing trip. This time we were glad we tried something new. The Kon Tiki was Great! There was a lot of room on the boat and it was very clean. The drinks were delicious and they had a live steel band that played fun local music. The first part of the tour was very informative and gave some great history about St. Thomas and surrounding islands.

There were not many fish to see in the glass bottom tanks but the reef was interesting. The beach we visited was absolutely amazing. I think it was called "Honeymooners Beach" on water island. The boat pulled right up to it so that you only had to get your ankles wet.

On the way back the young crew danced and did the conga line and limbo. They tried their best to get everyone involved and it was a blast. It was a great way to spend the day in St. Thomas. Historical Harbor Cruise, Glass bottom reef viewing, Beach, and Party all in one tour! Kon Tiki gets two thumbs up from this cruiser.
