  1. Here's a better photo I found of the cabin I am referring to. See how the bed is stuck between those bump outs on the wall? The night stands are sitting in front of the bump outs and the mattresses are between the bump outs. So, to my eyes, it appears that the mattresses cannot be slid apart to make room for the nightstand in between. That is my concern! I would be booking the cabin for someone who wants twin beds only, so don't want to assume that it can be done and have them find out once onboard that it cannot! Sometimes there will be a written "disclaimer" stating that the bed is only available in the queen configuration but I did not find any mention with this cabin that the beds cannot be separated. I just can't see how they would do it though, based on the photo.

I noticed this also in a video that I just watched. Bonnie, did you ever get a response to your question? I'm traveling with a friend and we want two separate beds, so this would be an issue for me.

No, sorry I have not received any further information about this cabin. My friend ended up not booking that cruise anyway so for them it became a moot point! Good luck! I hope you find out something favorable!

  2. I believe in that situation they remove the night stand, separate the beds and put the night stand in the space between them. Then the beds don't have to slide out so far as to block the balcony door.

  3. Can these beds be separated to make 2 twins? All the photos I have seen have the "queen" configuration and it appears that the mattresses are "wedged" between some sort of bump-outs on both sides. Hence it would appear that they cannot be separated to form 2 twin beds. However, there is no mention of this restriction anywhere. Has anyone been in either of these cabins on any Freedom-class ship and had twin beds? (Freedom, Liberty, Independence)

    Thank you!

  4. Alternately, if you are still selecting a cabin, either forward or aft balconies would have views of both the lava flow and Napali coast. There was no lava flow last year during our trip but the Napali Coast was a spectacular view from our forward balcony!

We were in a fantastic aft balcony but still found the best view of the lava flow and the Napoli Coast was from the promenade deck [emoji3]

We ran back to our aft balcony afterwards to get a longer view though! Win/win!

  5. It was on the starboard side a couple of weeks ago. And the lava flow was big and bright that night! The best place to watch was on the starboard side on the outdoor promenade deck (deck 6). There was a broadcasted narration out there about the volcano and a few of the bar staff members were going around selling a cute drink in light-up cups to enhance the occasion. It was fun and I was glad that we watched from there versus from our own balcony.

  6. Thank you for posting all this great information! After many RCCL cruises we have decided to try Celebrity in December. Hoping what I read on another thread about Richard Spacey being on Equinox soon is correct. He was CD on 2 of our RCCL cruises and he's great.

He told me he thinks he's joining the equinox on the 3rd April [emoji106]🏻

OMG!!!! I hope this is true! I LOVE Richard Spacey! I too have sailed with him multiple times on Royal Caribbean. I would be thrilled if he was the CD on Equinox when we sail in August! I usually don't think twice about who is the Cruise Director...but Richard Spacey is a "show" worth seeing! Ha ha! I'm sure he has toned down his silliness for Celebrity though! Oh please let him be there in August!

  7. Hi Bonnie, last week I went to my regular GP for "regular blood work"

(not part of the cancer stuff)......this was lipids, glucose, cholesterol, etc...

well, today he called me to come back and see him......and guess what,

in between when I started the cancer meds (5 months ago) my sugar was

NORMAL....not even close to being high.....well, now? It has spiked up to

DIABETES:mad::(....he seems to think it may be side effects from the

cancer meds.....because it was in such a good state before I started taking

them. So tomorrow I have to call my Hematologist....need to find out if

these meds can cause this to happen. The GP already called in meds to

my pharmacy for the diabetes. Will start them tomorrow but if it is the

cancer meds....hoping we can find another one that does the same thing

without the sugar side effects.........oh, AND my Cholesterol is high

    as well........geeezzz....

Oh dear! So sorry to hear this Lois! The surprises just keep on coming it seems! Hang in there though! Just keep addressing the issues as you find them! The good news is that you ARE diligent in staying on top of these health concerns and not ignoring them. You are catching things early so you can manage them! Stay strong and keep on cruising girlfriend! :)

  8. Hi Bonnie:)...yes, I am very thankful......no symptoms/side affects from

    the meds either.

Hawaii is on my list....have never done that cruise before. Hope you

have a great time. And HAPPY ANNIVERSARY...40 years is awesome:)

I am going to have the opportunity to sail WINDSTAR.....have you ever

looked at their ships? Some are motor yachts and some are sailing ships.

Last year I took my first River Cruise and now I looking at this one....

stepping outside the box from "mainstream"......;).....never thought I

would be doing it......long story of how it is possible but suffice to say

I haven't booked yet but seriously looking at their itineraries to Europe.:)

No Lois, I have not looked into doing a WINDSTAR cruise as of yet. But, I have seen their ships in various ports and I think they are visually quite beautiful to look at! I can only imagine that it would be a very special experience for sure! I will look forward to finding out what you think! :)

  9. "Happy New Year" to you too Lois! That is fantastic news that your meds are working and you will be cruising soon! Have a great time on Reflection! Next up for me is a couple weeks in Hawaii with my husband, celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary (in April). We are including a 7-day Hawaii cruise (Pride of America) in the middle of our land vacation! Then, in August, I'll be sailing on Equinox with my other favorite travel companion, my mother-in-law! 2017 is shaping up to be a good year! Here's wishing you continued good health and smooth seas! :D

  10. So awesome!!! Way to go patriotgirl! :D

I think some RCL magic karma dust got spread on to you once Bonnie Voyager appeared on this thread... gotta love the great info and support many of the experienced CC'ers give us here :D

(edit: and regardless of a mistake or purposeful/targeted change, kudos to whomever at RCL for getting this mess back to normal and definitely the way it should be)

Wow! Thanks Hoopster! I'm pretty sure I had nothing (or less than nothing) to do with the change of events here, but I greatly appreciate your vote of confidence...you just made me feel like a ROCK STAR! :D

    Woo hoo! Congrats Patrioticgirl!

  11. Oh no! I'm really nervous now about our upcoming cruise (Jan 7). I'm checking everyday to make sure we still have our cabin listed. I booked through a different internet site, not directly with RCI. But I don't guess that makes a difference anyway.

Did you have "I do not wish to upgrade my stateroom" checked? After reading this thread I made sure mine was checked. Should I call or do anything else to make sure they don't take it away?

Back when this happened to me, they had not "upgraded" their website to include these options at the time. So bottom line...no, there was nothing that told them NOT to move me. So, perhaps you will be spared this agony.

But do let me say one more time...to anyone who has this unfortunate situation occur...don't let it ruin your cruise! I thought my world was ending at the time and now I can't even remember which ship it happened on! ;) And while I may not have had the cruise experience I thought I was going to have, the experience I did have ended up being awesome. :D Otherwise I would remember which ship it was where I lost my primo aft cabin! ;)

  12. Hi Bonnie, thank you for chiming in; it is good to hear your perspective .... and that this has indeed happened to an even more loyal Royal customer than me. I know it seems silly, but I have taken this very personally and been crushed that this happened.

It is good to cross paths again, too. We were on the Serenade together in March of 2008... both in aft balconies. I remember how helpful you were then and know how helpful you are on these boards. I do appreciate your comment so much.:)

I thought that was you! For fun, I just went back and re-read our Serenade Roll Call Thread from that 2008 cruise! Great memories of a great cruise! :D

  13. I also understand...I too had booked a deck 7 aft/corner cabin with 2 passengers (18 months in advance) because it was listed as being an available choice for me! Less than a week prior to sailing I also noticed that they had moved me. Same scenario too! They said I was "upgraded"...to a standard category D side balcony. And they admitted they had already filled my primo aft cabin presumably with 3 passengers, and there was no recourse for me. Ship was full, and I got what I got!

Like you, I went through all 5 stages of grief - denial, anger, bargaining, depression and ultimately...acceptance. Yes, I did eventually just accept things as they were, took the lemon they had handed me and made lemonade...and ended up having a superb cruise. Once onboard, I can't say that I ever even thought about my former cabin. (Okay, maybe a little) But, bottom line, go ahead a grieve your loss of that primo cabin, you need to do that...but in the end don't let this situation turn your cruise into a lemon! ;)

Move forward and have a great cruise! :)

  14. Thank you so much Bonnie! Finally some pictures! I can see the balcony is a tad bigger so I just switched our cabin to 9250. And I like the sofa near the balcony instead of the bed so that was great to see too. I had paid for a balcony guarantee and was upgraded to a D7 on deck 10 so switching to 9250, which is also a D7, was no problem at all. Now I feel like I'm getting the best I can get, balcony wise, in the D7 category :)

We loved 9250 and would most definitely book it again...even with the wifi "dead-zone"!:D

  15. Hello Bonnie, This thread came up when I searched for Anthem cabin 9250, hoping to see a picture of the balcony. Was the balcony larger than others? It looks so on the deck plans but I'm not sure. It is worth switching from a "regular" balcony to this cabin? Also, is this cabin handicapped? It came up that way on another website but no where else. Sorry to interrupt this thread people :) Looks like Bonnie is the only one on CC to have been in this cabin!

Hi! 9250 was a great cabin choice. Other than being in a "dead zone" for internet, it was a great location for proximity to everything! The balcony was indeed just a tad larger than a standard side balcony. I will attempt to add some photos for you. I apologize for the size, I could not figure out how to make them smaller...

  16. Just booked Oasis today. Cabin 9327, the 2nd cabin in from end. However, Cabin 9729 on the end is available. Is the end cabin that much more spectacular to where I should call and change?

This will be our first Royal Caribbean cruise!! So excited!!!

The biggest benefit of having the end cabin is that you have no neighboring balcony on one side, which is nice! It also gives you a slightly better view of the Aqua Theater and the sea. For me, I'd jump at it before it is gone. If you don't get it, you still have a great location though.

  17. Hi Sandy and Bonnie:)

This weekend my sister and I are going on our cruise:)......flying to

Boston on Saturday and sailing on Sunday......it has been a long few

months for both of us so this cruise should be fun:)

You and your sister should have a fun-tastic time! It's the perfect time of year for a New England itinerary! It will be beautiful! I have sailed on Serenade a couple of times too, and had a lovely experience. She is a very pretty ship.

I will be flying on Saturday too! But from Philly to Ft. Lauderdale (with my mother-in-law) and we board Allure of the Seas on Sunday!

Here's wishing all of us blue skies and smooth water! :D

  18. Hi...I am here and thankfully made it through Matthew without any

    problems:)

We did have a lot of damage around the city but all my stuff and my place

    are AOK:)

So glad to hear you made it through the storm unscathed Lois. My house in Viera (Melbourne/Rockledge area) was fine too, and my father also made out fine down in Vero Beach. My brother and sister-in-law however, who live in Vero Beach near our dad, but was on vacation in the Outer Banks when the storm came, left their vacation home on the barrier island and sought safety at a hotel which ironically, actually got flooded in and they were literally trapped without power in the hotel surrounded by water for several days before they could get out. They are finally on their way back to Vero Beach today though!

  19. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Sherry didn't make it. She went very early this morning. I posted a picture of her from her last cruise on the Recycle thread. Rest In Peace, Sherry.

Heaven has a brand new angel.

    She just got there today.

God thought she was so special,

He called her home to stay.

Heaven has a brand new angel.

I can hear her singing praise.

She is giving God the glory

as she sees Him face to face.

Heaven has a brand new angel.

From this life, she is gone.

In memory, she will stay alive.

    Forever, she'll live on.

Heaven has a brand new angel.

Heavy hearts are filled with pain.

Heaven has a brand new angel.

    Our loss is Heaven's gain.

  20. Hi Bonnie.....good morning....thanks for the link:)........you had it in

both feet? OMG......I thought 1 foot was bad.....not sure how you

walked at all if both feet were bad.:(

I think I may try Vionic's.....they make some very cute styles with

excellent support and I guess I have get used to NOT going barefoot

around the house anymore.....I normally never wear anything on my

    feet here at home.

Yes, both feet at the same time...AND I was pregnant at the time (well over 20 years ago) so the added weight of the pregnancy added insult to injury! I have not had problems in years though, but I learned to NEVER go barefoot! I step out of bed in the morning, into a flip-flop with arch support (of which Vionic makes several)! Birkenstocks are great for relief from PF pain as well! There are loads of choices of shoes with good arch support available these days though! No reason to ever feel like you are wearing grandma's orthopedic clodhoppers!;):D You can also purchase "stick-on" arches at almost any local drugstore, to turn some of your existing flat shoes into something more supportive! Good luck with your feet and everything else you are dealing with! God bless!

  21. Thanks so much........but get this.......I have had a sore heel for the

past few days and yesterday it got really bad.....VERY painful:eek:

Had to see the Podiatrist today and I have Planter Factitious......

My ankle/heel are wrapped and I have to do stretching exercises with

a towel....have a follow up with the Dr next week.

If it is not one thing............who said folks aren't given more things

than they can handle? Or some such saying?

Lois, here is a link to a great video with some tips for your Plantar Fasciitis. I suffered with PF off and on in both feet for years! I eventually got it under control though, and with stretches and good arch support, I have stayed pain-free for a long time now! :-)

Here's the link, there are some good tips here! https://www.healthoutcome.org/condition/5/plantar-fasciitis/recommendation/73?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=Boost&utm_campaign=PRTipDrJo
