  1. I booked an August cruise on the Dream in April. FTTF was already sold out. I was wondering what the chances of snagging FTTF might be on the Dream (specifically) at this point? We still have 2.5 months until the cruise so I'll keep checking. But I've never had such a hard time getting FTTF before. We really don't like to cruise without it, but it looks like we may not have a choice. :(

  2. BTW, not thrilled about letting kids in the Steakhouse. 2-3 hours is a bit of a stretch for a fidgety kid. We book the Steakhouse for a quiet adult dinner.

I've seen the maitre d ask a family whose child was screaming at the top of his lungs to take the child out in the mdr. So maybe the same thing will happen in the steakhouse? I'm sure they will not want to lose business over unruly kids. And before I get flamed, I am a mom of 2....we take our kids on some of our cruises(not all) but with the $35 price tag we've never taken them with us to the steakhouse. Our kids are 10 and 7 though, so with a $10 kids option, we may now consider it.....but our kids are old enough to sit through a longer dinner service. If we had toddlers I wouldn't put myself through that kind of torture. ;) LOL

  3. We weren't on this cruise but were on the September 13th sailing. Our cabin steward asked us if we wanted AM and/or PM service and we simply told him both please along with ice daily and there was no problem. You just have to say what you want.

Thanks for the tip. This is good to know. On the Magic in August we didn't have to ask for anything so this is all brand new for us.

  4. Having sailed on both ships, my vote is for the Pride hands down! If I had sailed on the Fantasy as my first cruise I'm not sure I would've ever cruised again. Thankfully I had already experienced other Carnival ships before I sailed the Fantasy so I knew that there was so much more out there, and in my opinion the Fantasy isn't the anywhere near a good representation of what Carnival has to offer. $1400 is a lot of money though, so if you do choose Fantasy just be prepared to not really be wowed. It's a much older and smaller ship and I just was not a fan. On the other hand we absolutely loved every single thing about the Pride and can't wait to sail her again. She's a great ship and the service we experienced was phenomenal. Our experience on the Fantasy wasn't bad, it was just a basic no frills kind of cruise. You can still have a good time if you choose the Fantasy, but in my opinion you'll have a GREAT time on the Pride.

  5. We were on this cruise as well. I thought it was okay overall. I wasn't expecting so much movement. Granted, I've never been on a ship this small but it really never stopped rocking and rolling the entire time. The food wasn't as good on this cruise imo. But the people on the ship were great. We met some very nice couples throughout the week and the staff was very friendly. I think we have decided that we prefer a bit of a larger ship. We did miss not having the steakhouse as an option. And ordering the steakhouse selections just wasn't the same as having the full steakhouse experience to us. The ship seemed to have an odor to in in the cabin hallways or maybe it was just ours. We were on deck 7 empress. We only had an oceanview and the bathroom seemed smaller for some reason. I felt that the cabin was kind of grimy too, in that it could've used a deep cleaning. But overall we still had a pretty good time, and made the best of the week. I thought the Motor City show was really good, and I loved the interactive aspect of it at the end of the show. The comedians were great, but yes if you didn't get there early it was standing room early. We got there early each time we went, but The Forum where it is held seemed like a makeshift room for it. The embarkation process is bizarre and the little terminal that you go through to get on the ship seems like it was an after thought. The debark process was great, we loved how quickly we were able to get off the ship on the last morning. Still felt kind of silly to take a shuttle across to the parking garage, but whatever we were happy to be heading out. All in all we wouldn't sail this ship again.

  6. we definitely felt more motion than in other ships but it was not a problem. We were very forward (only one cabin in front of us). On docking days we heard lots of noise from the thrusters. It didn't both me since I'm an early riser. Other than that, the cabins were very quiet with almost no foot traffic and hallway noise.

Thanks! Maybe I'll bring earplugs just in case. I already have my Bonine on deck! lol

  7. We jumped on the OBC credit with the 35 hour sale too! We just got our cabin assignment today! We went from the Upper Deck OV midship to Empress Deck OV fwd. I'm a little concerned about being fwd since I've only sailed midship. I'm planning to load up on Bonine just in case!;)

  8. We just switched due to a price drop during the 35 hour sale. We scored a very nice chunk of OBC, but I'm wondering when we will get our cabin assignment since we sail in 6 days!! For those of you who say you have gotten it at the dock, what about luggage tags?? I'd really hoped I could have them printed before we leave home a day before the cruise...

  9. We booked the tour in advance through their website. They also have a FB page and were very prompt with answering my questions.

We have been on several cruises and never felt the ship move like that. In fact our waiter said he hadn't felt it that bad since April. I think we just had bad weather/winds that made the seas rocky.

Thanks! I'll check their website/FB pages out!

I guess you just never know what the weather is going to do. I'd hate to take a chance though and be sick that first night.

  10. Thanks for the concise but descriptive review!! We're heading out on the Fantasy in 6 days. Did you book the Islandz excursion beforehand or when you got there? And I was wondering about the chance of being seasick since I've never been on a ship quite this small. I guess I'll start Bonine in advance! lol Thanks for the tip.
