  1. Loved the Boatyard, just walked through the terminal and followed signs to Taxi area, asked about transportation to Boatyard, as previously stated $20 p/p gives you taxi back and forth, entrance, lounge chair and free drink, There were vendors there on the other side promoting ski boats and turtle excursions but we just wanted a quiet beach day and it couldn't have been more perfect!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Hey Valerie,

We stayed there last November 2 nights precruise and loved it! If you booked on Priceline you probably got a really good deal, I know I did because we booked again for 3 night precruise Oct 28th through Oct 31st. Service is wonderful and everything is really close by. Spent a lot of time at Embassy Suites next door gambling, and then headed out to the main drag where the beach is and other more expensive hotels, and that's the area that you can catch a bus downtown for .75 per person to Old San Juan. We have stayed many times in the Condado and prefer Isla Verde, jmo.

Any other questions, just ask and enjoy your stay!

  3. We will be Elite on our upcoming cruise next month so I have a question about the party where you receive three drinks or three coupons, is there a limited menu on what you may have to drink? Can I ask for a Pina colada or is it wine, and simple drinks?

    Thanks

  4. Just a suggestion, ask at the hotel desk where the closest bus stop is and for about .75 per person you could take the bus into Old San Juan, verus a cab which would be about $18 or so one way, then once in Old San Juan there is an trolley which is free that will take you around Old San Juan, you are within walking distance of the forts, and return with the bus. I won't say it is the fastest way to get into town but we do it when we are in San Juan!

    Summit, October 31st,

  5. Last week I went through Priceline's Express Deals, 3 1/2 stars, Isle Verde Area, and almost was positive I was going to get the Verdanza for 10/28 through 10/31 and I did, final cost for three nights with taxes was $355.00 and also included the travelers' insurance.

We stayed there last year for three nites and didn't hesitate to stay there again

  6. We have stayed in San Juan many times, we have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and found it to be just fine. I remember instead of taking a $18 taxi one way to San Juan for sneakers that were forgotten we walked up the street and waited for the local bus, a whopping .75 cent fare to town, found Marshall's Dept store, bought sneakers for $29.95, and took the local bus back for .75, which was less than the cost of a taxi both ways, lol, and once you get off the bus in town there is a free trolley that will take you to about 18 different stops, you can get on and off at your leisure, for free. I know I gave you move information than you needed but I loved telling the story, lol~

  7. We have stayed in San Juan a lot, in fact we booked our fifth cruise on the Summit. The hotels we have stayed at are:

Verdanza, Isla Verde, most recently Nov 2014, very nice, within walking distance of beach, restaurants maybe half mile or so,

Howard Johnson's, Isle Verde, rated two stars and I will agree on that rating and would not stay there again

Radisson Ambassador, stayed Nov 2013, very nice hotel, on main drag, also close to bus line if you care to bus to Old San Juan, restaurants within walking distance, no beach nearby

Caribe Hilton, very upscale hotel, beautiful pool area, close to Celebrity port

    Pan American Pier

Condado Plaza Hilton, very nice hotel and within walking distance of restuarants and high class stores,

Good luck and enjoy San Juan!

  8. Stayed at the Verdanza November 5th thru the 7th and loved it! Have stayed precruise probably 7 times in different hotels and rest assured the property is clean, hotel personnel top notch, like the other poster said within walking distance to the Embassy, which has a casino, and authentic Puerto Rican Food at Mi Casita, in the strip mall down the street. The beach is also within walking distance! I wouldn't hesitate to book Verdanza in the future.

We are sailing in three weeks on the Celebrity Summit, we are staying in Isla Verde, the Verdanza Hotel, I did an express bid and got a price of $93 a nite for two nites, had a $100 coupon code from my travel agent so after taxes it cost $143 for two nites but I will have to pay an additional resort charge. Let me know if you need any more info, ps, this is our 15th cruise.

  10. Hi Neighbor,

If you want the beach I would suggest Isla Verde, San Juan, lots of beachfront properties as well as some hotels that are just a block or two away. From the airport I'm hearing it's about a $15 taxi and then to the port on your sail day it's about a $20 taxi ride, Celebrity usually sails out of the Pan American Pier.

    Have fun on your cruise,

  11. Let's see if my memory serves me correctly, when we have taken a taxi from the airport to Pan American Pier (for two people mind you) it has been somewhere around $19 to $21 with the luggage. There is a liquor/soda store in the terminal where they do sell soda, I believe about 3 years ago a six pack of Diet Pepsi cost about $3.00 and yes, you can bring in on the ship. Have a wonderful vaca!
