  1. Thank you all for the well wishes. Ya have given me some great ideas! I'm jotting them all down.

After 10 years of marriage hubby and I thought we would have to adopt. Although we still might. Too many kids out there need great homes and love. So this was a wonderful surprise.:D

Shakybeef: thanks for the mocktails idea. Never thought to google that!

It seems the Virgin Miami Vice keeps coming up. I didn't know that came in a non-alcoholic version.

I guess I could still enjoy the Alchemy experience by writing down how I feel and explain no alcohol.;)

  2. It isn't on the cruise menu but my favorite drink is an Easy Living (that's what is called at the local bars here) It's equal parts orange juice, pineapple juice and cranberry juice with a slash of club soda on top. I explained the recipe to the bartender and he made it for me. After that he remembered my drink the rest of the cruise

I'm writing this one down. Sounds delist!:D

  3. So excited to be going on another cruise. Excited to be going on a 2.0 upgraded ship, the Liberty! Was so excited to try the much talked about Alchemy Bar. Then Lord and Behold I just found out we will be taking a stowaway on this cruise!:D

Our first and definitely much talked about Blessing. Now I'm of course rethinking my whole plan of attack....ie. Try as many specialty Alchemy drinks as possible.:p

So my question is:What's your favorite non-alcoholic drink that I should try on my Liberty vacation?

  4. Most mass market cruiselines have Southern Routes. Royal, Carnival, and Celebrity are ones that immediately come to mind. Some go to Aruba, Curacao, Dominican Republic, Barbados, Antigua. .etc...

Some leave from ports San Juan, Ft. LAUDERDALE, Port Caneveral, and Miami.

  5. I have had both balconies and LOVE the Cove. The Cove is more enclosed, and if you want to sit out for sun, it's probably not for you. But, I love being close to the water, and the quiet of the lower balcony. Any ship I sail, from now on, that offers the Cove, I will be there instead of higher on the ship. It's just my personal preference. Regardless of what your choose, I hope you have a fabulous cruise.:D

    Ditto:D

  6. I keep asking and no one replies, How do you have an interior window?

It's a 4K cabin....it's located at the front of the ship. They used to be ocean views waaaay back in the day but there is a somewhat "obstructed" view. There is in essence a public balcony outside your window. People complained and they re-caterogized them as insides. Thus an inside with a window!:p

  7. Hello all,

I booked with one of the large online TA's for my upcoming 5-night cruise Aug. 18th aboard the Victory. We originally booked an inside on the Panorama deck; this will be my first Carnival cruise and we are looking forward to it!

After checking for price drops, I saw that I could book a guaranteed balcony for the same rate as the room I had booked before. For starters, is it possible to switch rooms if I used a major online TA and have already paid in full? Furthermore, do you think it would be wise to switch rooms and risk placement on this ship for the perk of a balcony?

Interested to hear all of your opinions-hope you can help!

Depending on the online TA you used there could be penalties incurred. That withstanding if final payment date has not passed and you are feeling lucky then try it. Look at the deck plans and see where is the worse balcony room on the ship. If you are okay if you get it then by jeans switch. :)

  8. Thanks Krystal...so just to make sure I am understanding you. If all my cruise ships line up correctly:) and our daughter comes in after we have booked for 2 persons, she can be added to the booking but not at the standard 3rd person rate.

Yes you did beat me to that one.:p:D

    No...

She can be added at whatever rate it costs at the time for a third person....could be the same or could be higher. Just wanted you not to be surprised if it's more.

If it was me I would just book the room now for all three and just take the $50 hit if she cancels. You ARE going on another Carnival cruise:p so the money wouldn't necessary be a waste. That way you don't have to worry about if there will be enough space for her. Is it worth $50? Peace of mind is worth that to me:)

  9. Back when I used to work for Carnival this is what I would have suggested...

Book a room that could hold 3 for two now. If you do this early enough the ship may not have restrictions. Sometimes if a ship is popular(no matter how far out) or close to sail date this is not allowed.

Now the thing is daughter needs to make up her mind ASAP. See the thing is if though a cabin can hold 3 people you may not be able to add her on later. Think of it like this.....example a restaurant can really hold 100 people but the fire Marshall says only 80. Even though you have 20 empty seats. Now apply this to a ship...you have cabins that hold up to 4 and 5 well this takes up space for a potential 3 or 4 person cabin space. Carnival counts souls not beds. So although booking a room that holds 3 for 2 sounds like a great idea be careful. You could be caught not able to add her.

Now when you add her the ES terms are the same BUT your daughter comes in at the new rate.

For example, when you and S.O. booked your cruise fare might have been $250/pp with you 3rd fare at the time of reservation would have been $150. Well if the rate went up by time of you adding daughter then she comes in at the new rate which could be something like $300 for the third person. Does that make since?

Basically, tell daughter to make up her mind and stick with it OR book her now and she has to finalize everything by your final payment date and at the worse you'll be out $50 nonrefundable and a $200 future cruise credit (assuming a 7 day cruise). And no you can't apply the $200 to your current reservation even though you've paid for it and it's in your name :p Beat you to that one!:D

    Regardless, enjoy your family vacay.

    Krystal:)

  10. It also all depends on the ports of call that your are looking for (if that matters) and the $$ of the cruise as well, I did a Mock booking for a SPA room in September 2014, just like we are already booked for an 8 night/9 day on the Breeze for those dates.......I almost fell off my chair!! The Getaway was nearly 2X more for a 6 night/7day cruise then my Breeze 8night/9day. Plus the Ports of call did not interest me at all.

But if you don't care about the ports of call or the amount of days or the $$Price tag then yes I would try something different too I guess.

This is EXACTLY why I cancelled my Getaway cruise. Saving over $1400 plus I knock two islands off my bucket list, Aruba and Curacao. Not to mention an extra day on the ship. The Liberty is not such a bad ship...high ratings. Don't think I did too bad :D.

Maybe if the Getaway had different ports or cheaper I would go. I do love St.Marteen.:p

  11. I hope I'm understanding you. You booked a TBA under a Early Saver rate? The agent should not have done this. Name changes are not allowed. If you are before final payment date then it's a $50 charge with $200 going towards an cruise credit which you can apply right away(assuming it's a 7 day cruise) towards rebooking. Even if you are paid in full. If it's past final payment date then all cancellation fees apply. Depending on how close you are to your sail date you could lose from your deposit to all the way equal to the cruise fare. If you caught this w/in 24hrs of your reservation the change would be free. If this is the case, which I hope not, then yeah pretty much SOL.:(

    Good luck!

  12. I got the FTTF to help keep hubby who has back issues from standing or sitting in one place for to long. The BEST 50 bucks I've ever spent.

Our luggage was priority tagged right before we got on the ship.

We got on by 11:30, went straight to our cabin, dropped our things and went to eat.

I think we had our luggage by 1:30.

I had to go to Guest Services for a few things on several different trips and it was fast, easy and I was never there more than two minutes.

Our debarkation luggage tags and letter telling us where to go to debark were in our room the day before.

We didn't have a tender port so I can't comment on that portion.

This morning we docked and at 8:20 a.m. Carnival had me pulling my car out of Pier 10's parking structure.

Fast, Easy on Hubby, Easy on Me, Quick Debarking...oh yeah..I'll definitely purchase it again.

Good to hear. Purchased it for our Liberty Cruise this September. So which itinerary did you do? How was the ship?:)

  13. My husband and I just stayed on the Riveria deck (deck 1) on the Valor, which is a sister ship to the Liberty.

We have always stayed in balcony cabins on deck 6 or 7, so I was a bit apprehensive about deck 1. However, we loved the cabin. Has a window that I actually was able to sit in and watch the sea go by. It even seemed a bit bigger than the balcony cabin. Closets, bathroom, and sofa are identical to 8c balcony cabins. We were in cabin 1363. It is midship, starboard side, and two doors down from the laundry room, which I loved. The midship elevator is right there. We were on the Southern, port-intesive cruise, and it was nice to come back each day and just have to walk up one flight of stairs to be back at our room. Less ship movement as well.

We never had any hallway noise issues. We did, however, hear some noise below us on the mornings we were pulling into port. It did not bother us though, as we are early risers. Would def book the cabin again.

Unfortunately, I'm not able to post any pics, but the room looks exactly like it does in the photo on the Carnival website. Hope that helps some.

    Karen

    Thank you sooo much, Karen!:)

I pulled the trigger on 1296. Couldn't beat that for $1300 total for an 8 day Southern. Now I have my window I can plan our pre-cruise vacation day at Disney knowing I haven't broke the bank:p

  14. Looking to upgrade to a OV on the Carnival Liberty. Is there a preferred area or should I fork over the money and do deck 2? Where is the laundry area or staff cleaning closet??

I'm nervous about the aft for anchor noise. Is there an OV area to stay away from? Thank you!:o

As always pics of the room is nice. I tried the search function but nothing is coming up. Again, thank you.
