  1. We went on the Xploration 1/22.  It was fantastic.  The Xploration is a much smaller ship than the other two.  There are only 8 guestrooms.  We liked the more intimate ship.  The food was a small buffet for every meal, nothing like what I see on the Flora, but no one starved.  Flora looks beautiful but was was twice as much as Xploration, and we were barely on the ship (had hikes/snorkels etc from 8am til dinner with a break for lunch, short rest).

  2. I am assuming with all the cuts there is no longer a buffet extravaganza?  I can't seem to find anything about it in over a year.  We will be on a 10 night med cruise on the Apex end of October and was fine tuning my dining and was trying to see when this might be, but I see no accounts of anyone attending in the past year.

  3. We will be on the Apex 10/26-11/5 doing a Mediterranean cruise.  We will be traveling with another couple who are thinking we should rent a cabana on one of our at sea days so that we have our own space to hang out.  I'm on the fence about this.  We all have a drink package, so the beer and vodka aren't a value to us.  It might just be a place to sit together.  Do you think we need to reserve this prior to boarding or is there usually availability?  I'm thinking they probably aren't as popular as during a Caribbean cruise since it's not as warm.  If we book in advance, what is the cancellation policy once we are on board and perhaps decide it's too windy or unnecessary?  The language when booking says "cancelled packages are subject to full cover charges and there are no refunds for unused amounts".  This is the same language for the specialty restaurants and I've cancelled and rebooked those already with no penalties(though obviously not onboard).  Has anyone here cancelled a cabana once on board?

We had the experience that it had shown on the app, then the day of our reservation it was removed and then the ship received some at a port and we had it for our second reservation. Good Luck.

So you are saying you went to your first reservation and they didn't have Lobster available?  I'd be pretty upset as, like Jim-lain, that's the main reason I booked it!

  5. We were in the Galapagos earlier this year.  For insurance, we booked just the evacuation insurance through Travelsafe.  The cost was $108 for us both.  We have a premium credit card that provides travel insurance, so we didn't need the whole package.  If you have a premium credit card, check your benefits.

Also, we traveled Delta through Atlanta and it was surprisingly easy and efficient.  Our connection was 5 terminals away and we had 1 hr to get there.  I was a bit stressed, but the monorails were great and we had plenty of time.

I totally agree.  I would call the Galapagos Desk and see if they know, or would find out while you are on hold.  Of course, you need to have that in writing just in case.  I know they are saying that if you have a package they will take care of you, but what exactly does that mean?

We do have the 10 day package, but we are on our own getting to Ecuador and preflight testing (require a RT-PCR to get into Ecuador, which isn't as common as a PCR), which is my main concern,.  Once there, Celebrity will test us for the flights to Baltra and the return flight back to the US, as part of our package.

I was just wondering if someone has actually had to cancel their cruise due to a positive result, and if they actually got a full refund, or a FCC.  For us to re-book this cruise with a FCC, we wouldn't be able to get it for the rate we paid, so it would cost quite a bit more 😞

  7. Can anyone attest that this is what is happening, any personal experiences?  The refund comment doesn't seem very specific, like  could it be a refund via a future cruise credit?   I have a galapagos cruise in two weeks that I am a nervous wreck about one of us testing positive prior to boarding our flight to Ecuador (seems like everyone here in NJ has it!).  I was thinking we'd get a FCC if this were to occur and have to use this huge credit by December 31.  I would much prefer an actual refund to my credit card.

  8. to piggy back on this topic, if a NRD cruise is cancelled and a FCC is given, can the FCC be used as a deposit on another cruise later (not sure what I would want to do just yet, definitely not Europe for awhile) or would I still need to put out another $900 deposit (and the FCC would be applied to the balance of the new cruise).

Or if, I make a decision to go to the caribbean instead, can I just transfer the deposit (not FCC) to another cruise, is that just an even exchange?

The picture I showed above is of the two balconies of the 2 SV's 2 decks below yours in same position (10269 and 10271). Yours should look the same.

  10. We will be in PC for a cruise stop (Pride). I booked two rentalcars for 9 of us from Avis to go to Disney (free tickets). What happens when we get off the ship? Do they have shuttles that go back and forth or do we need to call them? I see their hours begin at 7:30, does anyone know when the shuttles start coming? (our ship gets in at 7a,so I'm wondering how close they can get picked up to 7:30 or should we not rush)

Also, should just the two drivers go get the cars and come back for the rest of us?

    Thanks for your help!
